Where There's Woke
WTW136: Debunking Junior Varsity Anti-Wokist Gad Saad's PragerU Propaganda
Gad Saad, a marketing professor who calls himself an evolutionary behavioral scientist, made a PragerU video called Suicidal Empathy, based on Paul Bloom's book I MEANNNN his own "new" book. This pile of crap has 2.8 million views. Lydia and Thomas go through every single claim.

0:00:03 Clip: What's so scary about the woke mob? How often you just don't see them coming. Anywhere you see diversity, equity, and inclusion, you see Marxism and you see woke principles being pushed. Wokeness is a virus more dangerous than any pandemic hands down. The woke monster is here and it's coming for everything. Instead of go-go boots, the seductress green M&M will now wear sneakers.
0:00:41 Thomas: Hello and welcome to Where There's Woke. This is episode 136. I'm Thomas. That over there is Lydia. How you doing?
0:00:47 Lydia: Yo, yo, I'm here bringing some PragerU nonsense.
0:00:50 Thomas: What's happening? Yeah.
0:00:54 Lydia: That's why I'm feeling pumped. Yep.
0:00:55 Thomas: You know, I was just thinking this is such a regular show. It's regularly scheduled. You can rely on it show. Jesus, what is happening? Are you not a fan or? Yeah. Are you ready yet? Do you want, do I need to redo the recording?
0:01:01 Lydia: Like a bowel movement. Yeah. I'm sorry you say regular and all I think about is poop. I'm a mom of children. I am a mom with children. Oh, no, I am good. I know we've been doing a good job yeah
0:01:18 Thomas: Just commenting on how like relatively on time we've been yeah go us I feel so much for the people who were like not getting our show on time you know I feel for them but then I've just found out that like that's actually a disease that's killing our entire society yeah yeah I'm about to die I'm about to jump off a cliff because I feel slightly some amount of like other people's feelings we
0:01:35 Lydia: Yeah you could call it suicidal potentially oh my god yeah you guys we have to talk about gadzad went on well no no we have to we have two oh
0:01:52 Thomas: We really don't. We don't, I can't, sorry, I can't support you. We don'T have to. We are opting to talk about, he is a worthless knockoff of a knockoff, of a knockoff.
0:02:05 Lydia: We'll get into it yes
0:02:06 Thomas: But I'm just, well, I'm just making it very clear. He doesn't demand being talked about other than he's such a buffoon and he's anti -woke that we're, it's our pleasure really to, of me? No, no, no. But the, the thing that was really funny, I don't know if you're going to bring up, but it was when they did the ridiculous photo shoot for the New York Times. That was the leaves and the trees and the weird shit that the intellectual dork web. Yeah, they do the intellectual dark web photo shoot. You remember that at least, right? That was like Sam Harris and some shrubbery, you know, like, oh, look it up immediately. And then the funny thing was he went nuts, like on Twitter, like hey, why wasn't I in this?
0:02:15 Lydia: Wasn't he on one of an episode way back when no no no okay okay I'm mixing him up with somebody else But yeah. No, I don't remember this. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay.
0:02:42 Lydia: I don'T think I ever saw the pictures. So I'm looking it up right now. Give me a second. Yes. This is so weird.
0:02:54 Thomas: Why wasn't I why wasn't I part of yeah it's Bari Weiss why
0:02:58 Lydia: Why is Sam Harris? Why are the shrubs?
0:03:00 Thomas: Any of that why any of that
0:03:02 Lydia: They're like coming into where his penis is. And then there's like, okay, I'm going to send you this.
0:03:05 Thomas: What okay I don't remember that well yeah I can look I have it bookmarked no I'm just kidding god is so dumb
0:03:10 Lydia: Oh, this is weird. Isn't that one of the Weinstein guys? And that's not Brett.
0:03:17 Thomas: Yeah that's the other one that's uh Eric yeah this is an opinion piece by uh one Bari Weiss this
0:03:18 Lydia: That's Eric and with the umbrella freaking Bari Weiss
0:03:24 Thomas: Was the kind of stuff meet the renegades of the intellectual dark web so pathetic
0:03:27 Lydia: Can you imagine if this were cut off at this point in time what we would have been spared in so many ways
0:03:31 Thomas: God what if they all died from a shrubbery accident. Like the Joe Rogan one. Oh my God. The Joe Rogan one. The Joe Rogan photo is like fast and the furious. Yeah. Like it's some weird motion blur thing. Oh, my God Oh, it's it's both wine scenes. It's both wines scenes.
0:03:36 Lydia: Well no and Bari Weiss too like she wouldn't she wouldn't be in front of like a weird lit yeah yes and his shoes and pants make no sense well yeah but Eric has the with the umbrella and Brett is out in the wilderness yeah Yeah.
0:03:57 Thomas: Yeah, yeah, there are God. Yeah that will the end the Sam Harris when it looks like marijuana kind of like, you know, sort of oh michael schirmer made the cut okay that's so funny god I'm scrolling all the way down I'm done oh Dave Rubin made the cut oh man I forgot how good this was
0:04:09 Lydia: Oh, I don't see him on mine. I'm not on the New York Times one. He's sitting on like coral.
0:04:20 Thomas: 798 comments this was the dumbest fucking thing ever this was Bari Weiss this was why she got yeah well yeah because Brett Brett and Heather together but anyway after this gad sad is such a fucking junior varsity intellectual dark web dork he was all over twitter like why wasn't I in this like why wasn't I included
0:04:26 Lydia: Is that Heather Hying? Okay. Like with the moss and stuff. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So dumb.
0:04:43 Thomas: Like it's like a pick me or whatever like what do you call that it was it was so fucking funny it was maybe the most pathetic thing in the world to see this photo shoot which every right thinking person was like well this is sad and funny like the dumb sad and And funny. And then for Gadzad to be like, what? No one invited. I was busy anyway.
0:05:07 Thomas: Like I was, I wouldn't have been able to make it to the shoot, but like I should have asked me.
0:05:12 Lydia: Who made this decision to do these photos in this particular way? Anyway, Damon Winter.
0:05:15 Thomas: Bari Weiss. And oh yeah, some photographer. I remember some discussion about it.
0:05:21 Lydia: Weird.
0:05:21 Thomas: But anyway, Gadzat is so pathetic that he's not a part of that.
0:05:23 Lydia: Yeah, but we're going to be talking about him today because he did one of the five minute videos with PragerU, something that they are very well known for. And it's called Suicidal Empathy. And this popped up for me and I sent it to a group chat that I have with you and Eli Bosnick. And I was like, you guys, please watch this right now. And we have to talk about it because this is absolutely insane.
0:05:46 Thomas: Unfortunately, Eli is so busy. I really wanted him to come on, but he's really busy. He's a level of busy where I feel bad asking. And not only that we did ask and he's like no which is not normal yeah yeah but we shouldn't be calling him out
0:05:48 Lydia: Zane so busy so you guys have me I asked him multiple times I was like hey let me know when you're available no response because he's never available
0:06:05 Thomas: Like this he's doing a lot so I shout out to Eli for still being amazing I wish we could have him on for this but uh Lydia's gonna do her best Eli impression can I say something brave you're gonna
0:06:06 Lydia: Yeah he's kicking butt oh dear god how dare you never in a million years from your heart so I'm obviously going to link this in the show notes it's only five minutes please folks we will play this video
0:06:24 Thomas: Do yeah play the whole fucking thing
0:06:32 Lydia: Honestly we will We will play the entire thing during the podcast. But if you want it uninterrupted, I'll include it. You can go subject yourself to it. Why not? But basically, this is a promotion for his book is really what it is. Yeah. And it boils down to this idea that empathy as a concept is fine, but that it gets manipulated because it gets applied to the, quote, wrong people.
0:06:44 Thomas: Yeah oh joy I don't know if you know this but there's already this exact book times 20 this
0:07:05 Lydia: Oh, I believe it. I believe that.
0:07:05 Thomas: Is this has been done literally this exact book it's called against empathy by Paul Bloom I read it, it's I mean whatever it's one of those ones it's like okay fine technically when you get through all of his like throat clearings about the definition of empathy then he's like what you need is compassion you're like oh all right so you need a pretty much what people mean but slightly different yeah like it's that kind of thing that already exists
0:07:31 Lydia: When they're talking about empathy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. This is worse though. This is a hundred percent worse.
0:07:37 Thomas: Yeah oh I'm sure but I'm saying not only does that already exist there's like 10 duplicates of it and that's not enough for this idiot in 2026 to write the same book that's it's been done it's been done
0:07:44 Lydia: Yeah. Yeah just under a month ago they posted this. We're gonna get into it. We're gonna get into the nitty-gritty. We're gonna tackle all the claims that he lays out in this five -minute video. I'm super excited about it. But folks before we go to the break just keep in mind that Gadsad is a professor of marketing at Concordia University in Canada. He likes to put it under the framework of evolutionary psychology. And to be fair, to be fair, he did hold a position at Concordia that was the research chair in evolutionary behavioral sciences and Darwinian consumption. So his marketing degree is, you know, not like do marketing. It's more about like how marketing works, right? The research behind it. So I want to be fair. But keep that in mind, his background, he has a bachelor's degree in mathematics and computer science, an MBA in marketing, and a master's in management and a doctorate in marketing from Cornell.
0:08:11 Thomas: He ties in evolution or whatever yeah sure wait so he doesn't actually have any education on evolution like any biology no oh my god not even evolutionary psychology oh my fucking god I'm sure I probably knew that but again he's so pathetic that I haven't thought about him in a while but that's really bad no wonder because it's already bad enough that there's a lot of people who actually should know better who misuse the like, well,
0:08:53 Lydia: No, correct. Correct. Zero. Zero, yeah. So keep that in mind. Yep. Yeah.
0:09:16 Thomas: Evolutionarily men, you know, hunt and women be shopping or whatever. And like, they're just selling out. But it explains why his takes are so fucking dumb is that he actually isn't educated in that field at all.
0:09:28 Lydia: Yeah, no, he co -ops phrases and and vocabulary from that field to further his beliefs, basically. So keep that in mind as we go through this, but we're going to have to take a break before we dive into it.
0:09:42 Thomas: All right. Well, what can people do during that break?
0:09:45 Lydia: They can go to patreon .com slash where there's woke.
0:09:48 Thomas: What would they find there?
0:09:50 Lydia: Amazing ways to support our community, a way to become a Wokey, bonuses from over the years. There's a lot of stuff on there. It has been years that's accurate
0:09:59 Thomas: I know it's just I I like that you caught yourself that like I don't remember if we just released one but over uh time accumulated who knows no one even knows what's on the patreon you could be the first to find out
0:10:10 Lydia: Yes who knows what is time yeah you can be a discoverer you can span the world and find what you find what's available to only the wokies yeah
0:10:26 Thomas: Be the Lewis and Clark of our patreon
0:10:29 Lydia: Exactly not a Columbus because we did an episode or two on him. Don't be like him, but be a Wokie and go to patreon .com slash where there's Woke. Sign up, be part of the group. We love our Wokies so much. And you know, I've been working on a lot of things behind the scenes. And I just think that there's going to be a lot of, a lot of stuff coming up for all of our folks. I'll get there. I'm going to do it. I get there, I'll make my way. I think there's going to be some really cool stuff going on there, but you're going to want to get ahead of the curve, folks. So go ahead and sign up and join us there and then we'll get into it.
0:10:50 Thomas: You should go in front of the scenes okay I just want to make sure you thought of that okay okay here we go press just press play we're just right into
0:11:14 Ad: [Ad break 1 — ad music]
0:11:15 Lydia: Press play. Press play! Just press play. Yes, of course.
0:11:20 Thomas: It there's a weird mood you're
0:11:21 Clip: How do civilizations die? The great British historian Arnold Toynbee asked himself this question. Here is his answer.
0:11:30 Thomas: In sorry yeah great is he I don't I don'T have never heard of him but yeah sure yeah
0:11:33 Lydia: Okay. So no, that's fine. No, pause. Because he actually is someone who is a great thinker and he's co -opting his credibility for his point here. So let's go ahead и keep playing.
0:11:46 Thomas: He's like imagine if whatever the hell I was saying was this guy
0:11:51 Clip: They die not by murder, but by suicide. Side. We in the West, the inheritors of the greatest civilization ever created, are witnessing
0:12:02 Lydia: OK, pause again. So specifically with regard to Arnold Toynbee, he brings him up because it is a real quote that he says civilizations die by suicide, not murder. Right. But he's leaving out the time aspect of this, that this is something that happens, an internal decline across civilizations, regardless of civilization, over a time scale. Right. And Gadzad is going to apply this quote to things like immigration policy. That's insane.
0:12:38 Thomas: Yeah. It's stupid. Yeah.
0:12:39 Lydia: It's so dumb. But like I said, he's co -opting somebody who is a well -known British historian. People who are in that space are going to be like, oh, Toynbee, yes, of course. And he's going to selectively grab this quote and say, can't you see this is exactly what's happening here, too.
0:12:59 Thomas: So like, it's just referring to the fact I'm sure like nobody like took over the Roman Empire. It's like eventually it gets spread so thin and it's more of, yeah, it'S like time and it'S also once you get so big, it' s like you' ve got so many different actual cultures and people. Nobody like conquered it, really.
0:13:07 Lydia: For various reasons, right? Like it could be any number of reasons that it happens. Yeah.
0:13:18 Thomas: That' s what I assume it means.
0:13:19 Lydia: Just kind of falls apart a little bit.
0:13:20 Clip: This right before our very eyes. Suicidal empathy. As an evolutionary behavioral scientist,
0:13:21 Thomas: Okay. Here we go. Ready? Yeah. What? Sorry. All right is he that well how does he say how is he saying that
0:13:27 Lydia: Yeah, you're not. Sorry. No, you are not. You are not an evolutionary behavioral scientist. So what he's leaning on here, again, is that he chaired the evolutionary behavioral sciences and Darwinian consumption position at Concordia University for 10 years, 2008 to 2018. Yeah. So he had a specific position that he was assigned within his university where he teaches marketing. And then he was an associate editor for about three years for the journal Evolutionary Psychology.
0:13:46 Thomas: Shared it
0:14:00 Lydia: But he is not a
0:13:59 Thomas: Huh doesn't have a degree in any of
0:14:02 Lydia: Scientist. Scientist he is not a scientist in evolutionary psychology he's not a scientist in anything I am telling you right now from the review I guess he did a bachelor's in computer science so I guess you could say he's the scientist in computers at the undergraduate level yeah there is nothing in his educational background at
0:14:07 Thomas: That are you sure about this wow oh yeah there's lots of darwinian stuff there
0:14:24 Lydia: Least with degrees conferred I'm not here to say that he didn't take classes in this stuff he might have but Jesus Christ to call yourself a evolutionary behavioral psychologist is so inaccurate.
0:14:24 Thomas: Huh yeah yeah you took some gen ed that touched on it yeah yeah I think he knows that his audience doesn't check
0:14:38 Lydia: Incredibly misleading. No.
0:14:40 Clip: I believe empathy is a noble virtue and a central feature of our humanity. The Oxford Dictionary defines empathy as the ability to understand and share the feelings of another.
0:14:52 Thomas: Oh end of movie it's a essential to our humanity so I was gonna what's the what's the ending theme music of prager you daryl stupid fucking
0:15:03 Lydia: Also, also the hackiest thing ever. Merriam -Webster's dictionary defines empathy as like, come on. Yes.
0:15:07 Thomas: Christophastus yeah yeah and like the graphic design is my passion like dictionary comes in
0:15:14 Clip: Other. It sounds great, and often is, especially when you're empathetic toward the people close to you, your spouse, your children, your friends. But empathy can lead us astray. When empathy serves as the only filter for decision-making, replacing a rational and adaptive calculus of prudence, discernment, and justice, empathy can cause great harm. In fact, it can be fatal. The serial killer
0:15:36 Lydia: Sorry. Do you know anybody who does that? No, exactly. Pause on that. Folks, Folks, if you're listening to this, just take a second to recognize any instances in which you have felt empathy for another human being. Was it devoid of anything else in your mind? Was it solely empathy when you were evaluating whether or not they were a good person or a bad person, whether they made a good choice or a bad choice, whether THEY WERE DESERVING OF HOUSING, FOOD, SHELTER, YOU KNOW, WHATEVER? Or is it more nuanced and more complicated? And your mind uses all these other things to take into consideration yeah
0:16:13 Thomas: Well, yes. And people might do this here and there. Society fucking isn't, you asshole. What are we doing?
0:16:19 Lydia: What's going on
0:16:21 Thomas: You might as well be writing about, yeah, what's going on? This is the rule now. You might As well be riding about like the corporate tax rate being too high in 2026 or like the, you know, the poor billionaires don't have enough money when, when Elon Musk became a trillionaire, fortunately rolled back down to below
0:16:32 Lydia: Yeah yeah exactly elon must just become trillionaire yeah freaking cry babies
0:16:40 Thomas: A trillion, which, which, yeah, because instantly that stock went down, which I appreciate. Yeah, it's like it's not a lot, but I appreciate it. You know what I mean? Like it helps. It helps a little bit for that guy not to be a trillionaire. Yeah, I know at this point. But where are you seeing this? It's just a straw man argument. There's no there's nobody does this to your point.
0:16:41 Lydia: Oh did he good exactly I'll take whatever I can get yeah well
0:17:00 Thomas: Give me an example. Is he gonna? OK. Oh, yeah. Duh. Uh -huh.
0:17:02 Lydia: He is for evil
0:17:05 Clip: Killer Ted Bundy used empathy to lure women to their violent deaths.
0:17:09 Lydia: Sorry what
0:17:09 Thomas: And yeah they love to lean on this oh yeah let's keep going on
0:17:13 Clip: He would pretend to be injured, sometimes with a fake sling or cast on his arm. He would ask his soon-to-be victim for help loading items into his car, and then, when they turned their back, he would strike.
0:17:25 Lydia: Yeah sorry the the graphics fix.
0:17:27 Thomas: What kind of an idiot yeah
0:17:27 Clip: Bundy killed through kindness, exploiting the natural proclivity to be empathetic.
0:17:31 Thomas: And that's why you never help anyone with anything ever you fucking moron because this yeah because a serial killer from the 70s I mean he's not that old is he new relative 80s I I still pretty old, like serial killing is a dying art, you know,
0:17:36 Lydia: Isn't that insane? I'm sorry, because this sociopath decided he wanted to kill people. 70s?
0:17:49 Lydia: No, I think it might be 70s. Let's see.
0:17:54 Lydia: I agree. Yes, the 70s, 74, 75, 78.
0:17:55 Thomas: Because of phones and stuff. Yeah. So because of like the worst person who pretended to be a thing and exploited people being nice and it wasn't. Yeah, I would argue. Oh, sorry. I thought you were saying this. I would argument that what the people that were helping them was barely even empathy.
0:18:05 Lydia: Because it it wasn't informed by empathy. It was informed by psychopathy. Yeah.
0:18:19 Thomas: It's like the most basic courtesy like you wouldn't even go to the oh this poor guy I'm feeling what he's feeling someone's like hey can can I have yeah duh it's not this is nothing you idiot you fucking moron they're so dumb they're SO DUMB GOD so
0:18:26 Lydia: No, exactly. It's someone dropped their books. I'm going to pick them up for them. Yeah, let me hold the door open for you.
0:18:39 Lydia: I knew you would love this. I knew You would love This.
0:18:42 Clip: Suicidal empathy endangers not just well-meaning individuals. It threatens entire societies, indeed, all of Western civilization.
0:18:42 Thomas: Pathetic oh because Because if we all pick up someone's books, there's actually 250 Ted Bundys that are going to kill us all right when we do that.
0:19:02 Lydia: But I love this because he's going to lay out several examples and we're going to debunk every single one of them. Yeah. I know. I know.
0:19:06 Thomas: Yeah. Debunk. We're being too nice to the poor.
0:19:11 Clip: Let's look at a couple of general and then more specific examples.
0:19:14 Thomas: That sounds intelligent.
0:19:17 Clip: In 2015, the Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, instituted an open-door immigration policy, especially for Muslim migrants, most of whom had no intention of assimilating into their host society.
0:19:29 Thomas: And we spread a bunch of propaganda about it, thereby making it horrible. See? Doesn't work.
0:19:36 Lydia: So this is something where because he himself is an immigrant, right, he can kind of say whatever he wants there because he has that plausible, you know, facade. Yeah?
0:19:46 Thomas: Yeah, that would be his best argument. Me. Do you want more of me? Fuck. Okay. Yeah. He's got a point actually. I'm going to subscribe to PragerU.
0:19:52 Clip: Society. Perhaps her suicidal empathy toward migrants was meant as penance for her country's crimes against humanity. But a decade later, Germany, as well as most of Europe, nearly
0:20:00 Thomas: There's a little Nazi flag that like flutters down. That's again, it's like from Microsoft PowerPoint circa 1997. Oh my God.
0:20:01 Lydia: Not nuts. Yep. Yep. And I think I talked about this in an episode way back when. I don't know that they were involved in these videos, but PragerU contracts with Daily Wire and their graphics team to put together these videos.
0:20:24 Thomas: Which used to be like, not that bad from a propaganda sense until they went out of business.
0:20:29 Lydia: Yeah. Ben Shapiro will say, hey, we're doing fine. Leave us alone. Yeah, yeah. He's pushed back on that.
0:20:33 Thomas: Like he is, oh man, never, not, that's not, That's not what everybody thinks, but maybe they're all wrong. I don't know.
0:20:37 Lydia: Nope, nope. Ben Shapuro has been pushing back on it, but he has a fiduciary duty to keep the company in good position.
0:20:44 Thomas: He puts the douche in fiduciary. Yeah.
0:20:45 Lydia: So, yeah, there you go.
0:20:49 Clip: All of whom have followed Merkel's example, is dealing with the consequences — vastly increased rates of rape, murder, and social disintegration.
0:20:58 Lydia: All right, pause. So let's talk about this. He's not wrong that certain crimes saw an increase in Germany, specifically in the year 2015 -2016, specifically with regard to sexual offenses. And German federal data did show that asylum seekers were overrepresented as crime suspects related to their population share. Yeah, as compared to suspects specifically. So it's not entirely wrong, but it's misleading. There's a variety of German criminologists that have examined this data over the years. I mean, we're talking it's been 10 years now, right? People have looked at this data to kind of understand what's been going on. And consistently across these criminologists, they believe that why they are seeing the overrepresentation with regard to asylum seekers, it's related to certain demographic factors and not culture, not religion. That the migrant wave that they saw in 2015 was mostly young men between ages 16 to 30.
0:21:27 Thomas: Crime suspects or perpetrators? Huh. That's interesting. Hmm.
0:22:15 Thomas: Ah. So if you take any selection of... Yeah. Wow.
0:22:16 Lydia: Young men tend to be perpetrators of sexual violence, ages 16 -30, regardless of ethnicity, culture, religion, background. Right.
0:22:28 Thomas: I mean, that's something you could certainly statistically evaluate.
0:22:31 Lydia: And this is the case in every country in the world, not just Germany. And further, when they controlled for age, sex, unemployment, urban density, the crime rates basically disappeared. The elevated crime rates, the elevation of it, right, basically disappeared, it stabilized. Destabilized. And their interior minister at the time said that the higher absolute numbers were primarily a function of there simply being more people. Yeah, which makes sense. And then there was further, there was a peer -reviewed study that came out, and they looked at data from 2008 to 2019. And they said that during and after the refugee crisis, which which spanned the time period of 2015 to 2019, immigration actually had a negative or statistically insignificant effect on crime rates.
0:22:48 Thomas: Disappeared? Okay. Okay. Yeah. The differences. Yeah, yeah, yeah. More people. Yeah Yep. Huh.
0:23:28 Lydia: So immigration did not increase crime as a whole, statistically. Yeah, in 2018 even, their crime rate was the lowest it had been since 1992, even when the number of refugees was at a record high. So what are we doing?
0:23:35 Thomas: Way Fear -mongering.
0:23:52 Lydia: It's literally the opposite of what he just said.
0:23:54 Thomas: I love it too because it's so really I mean, okay. Yeah all that obviously. Yeah good debunk But it's also so much of this is so they think You can let immigrants in but really here's what happens when you let immigrants In we get really fucking mad and ruin everything so you can't do It's a circular argument. They're the ones causing the problems. They fearmonger, they do propaganda, they're xenophobic, and they take it out on everybody and billionaires foment it to take advantage of it to get fucking lower taxes. You know, like, that's what happens. And I love it because it's just so funny. It's like, you can't do that. You Know Why? Because I will ruin things if you do that, so therefore,
0:24:38 Lydia: And here's another angle that I would be interested in looking at. And I don't think this, maybe it had been researched. I hadn't seen it. How often were victims of these offenses refugees? And who were their perpetrators?
0:24:48 Thomas: Mm -hmm, also, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Well, it's also like it's just such a fundamentally different way of looking at the world where even if it were true. And again, in some sense, it is if you're letting in a demographic of, you know, that's more specifically like an age range of men. Like, yeah, it'S going to be true that that will increase certain sexual crimes because men. But my feeling would never be like, better keep all them out because they're the one like it doesn't make sense to me. It would just be like, well, sounds like we'd better do everything we can about that problem because you know what's a worse problem is all of those people dying. So that's worse. Like if they're dying in a war or a climate crisis, you know, it was those two things that created that refugee crisis. It's climate. I remember Bill Nye got in a bunch of trouble for saying that.
0:25:39 Thomas: That was a long time ago where he was like, yeah, well you know it's the climate change is a big part of that because there's no water.
0:25:40 Lydia: Yeah. Simpler time.
0:25:47 Thomas: It's like, yeah, that would make people fight like for sure.
0:25:47 Lydia: Yep, yep.
0:25:51 Thomas: And so for me, it's like sounds like we as humans and as a broader society have challenges that we should work to solve. And what doesn't solve it is fear mongering, essentially concentrating migrants, not letting them be a part of your society, really. Like it's It's it's like, fine, you know, we're letting them in, but then you're going to treat them horribly in a way that predictably leads to like low employment. And then that is a risk factor for the other things, as you talked about, like they just make it happen. They make it true. You know, it's a self -fulfilling prophecy.
0:26:33 Ad: [Ad break 2 — ad music]
0:26:35 Clip: In the wake of the death of drug-addicted felon George Floyd in May 2020, an idea arose
0:26:39 Lydia: OK, pause. Sorry. Drug addicted felon George Floyd. Like the writings on the wall here. This is so rhetorically loaded. Drug addictive felon. George Floyd, anything you say after this gets sad. Like, I can't take seriously because that is an insane way to present the murder of somebody. Even if you feel like he wasn't a good person, that's insane.
0:26:40 Thomas: Shut up, moron. Yeah yeah that guy was convicted by a jury there like it wasn't that wasn't like the woke yeah it was awful what he did like everybody with a with a heart recognizes that
0:27:17 Lydia: Convicted of murder. Like, yeah. Crazy. All right, continue.
0:27:26 Thomas: I love this telling though I gotta go back a sec to get how idiots tell the story or I guess best case he's lying but I think he's an idiot so here here's how he learned uh history he's gonna present us with with how the idea of police being racist, you know how that idea was thought of in 20 -fucking -19 or whatever he's saying?
0:27:46 Clip: In the wake of the death of drug-addicted felon George Floyd in May 2020, an idea arose, namely that a racist police system was murdering innocent people of color.
0:27:47 Lydia: A rose.
0:27:56 Thomas: Yeah, it hadn't occurred to anyone before that. Oh, yeah, easily.
0:27:58 Clip: Though this was easily refuted by the actual data, suicidally empathetic mayors and city councils in places like Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Philadelphia cut their police budgets.
0:28:09 Thomas: And they're all dead!
0:28:11 Clip: The very people who were supposed to be protected. Let's look at a few specific cases of suicidal empathy.
0:28:13 Lydia: Okay. Pause.
0:28:14 Thomas: None of that happened.
0:28:15 Lydia: Yeah, no, exactly. So very quickly, ABC News looked at police budget data and found that LAPD's budget was up 9 .4 % since 2019. Doesn't sound like defunding the police. San Francisco up 4%, Philadelphia up 3%. Of 109 city budgets analyzed in this ABC News analysis, 83 % were spending at least 2 % more on police in 2022 than they were in 2019. In 49 cities, funding had increased by more than 10%. So literally everything he said just there is wrong. It's not accurate at all.
0:28:54 Thomas: Yeah, yeah. Well, but he probably saw on Twitter that someone said that the police were defunded, so that's close enough.
0:29:03 Lydia: What are we he doing
0:29:04 Thomas: Even if you totally disagreed with it, only a fucking moron would say it arose in 2020. That's just ignorance. Now, this dummy is Canadian, right? Yeah. So maybe he's thinking about like the
0:29:15 Lydia: He is lebanese originally but yes immigrated to
0:29:19 Thomas: Mounties over there. Well, sure. Yeah. Yeah. They let him in? Suicidal empathy. Yeah. He really, he really is his own best example.
0:29:23 Lydia: Canada they did I know I know mass immigration it's also just the laziest like he wrote a book about this and so he believes this stuff yeah and and so that that same abc news analysis that looked at police budgets within specific cities that along with a different analysis from washington post
0:29:33 Thomas: Yeah. Yeah. And this is the best you have.
0:29:48 Lydia: Looked back going decades back to 1960 they found no relationship zero between police spending and crime rates they are not related there is no relationship so knock it
0:30:01 Thomas: Yeah I could do your propaganda for you better idiot
0:30:06 Lydia: Off yeah
0:30:10 Clip: Canadian-born Omar Khadr joined the Taliban and murdered an American soldier in Afghanistan. The U.S. gave him a 40-year sentence but turned him over to Canadian authorities after ten Former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's government, which suffered from Stage 4 suicidal empathy, gave Qatar $8 million and apologized for his detention.
0:30:27 Thomas: Oh my god oh my gosh
0:30:30 Lydia: Stage four all right yes pause okay what
0:30:46 Thomas: My God please yeah you're gonna use people who were in a fucking black site torture prison as our example of like too much empathy yeah
0:30:46 Lydia: He leaves out was that his specific case omar qadir his specific case went up all the way to the Supreme Court in Canada, and they ruled unanimously three separate times that his rights had been violated. So basically, he was interrogated after he had been subjected to sleep deprivation. The court specifically described that as torture. Omar Qadir was also a minor when he was engaging in all of this. Yeah, because he had immigrated with with his dad, who was affiliated with the Taliban. So he was essentially a child soldier. They found that evidence that was extracted from him was done in a manner, quote, that offends the most basic Canadian standards about the treatment of detained youth suspects. So Trudeau offering the settlement is not him being soft on terrorism. First of all, it's him presenting the government.
0:31:13 Thomas: Oh he was was oh wow yeah jesus wait did he actually offer a settlement yeah that's stupid hold on that's important because like if it's like the guy won his case and then trudeau was like look man this one's on us uh gets out of canada's wallet sure
0:31:54 Lydia: So Cotter was seeking $20 million and the government said, here's 10 and a half million because they felt that if this went to court, they would be looking at $40 million plus all the legal fees that would be incurred to battle this out in court, right? So they just cut it off and they said, how's $10 million, $10 .5 million? And Omar Khadir said, okay, that's fine. And like I said, he was 15 years old when this happened, brought to Afghanistan by his dad who had the al -Qaeda connections. He was a kid. He was a teenager.
0:32:16 Thomas: Oh my god are you kidding me so just to to clarify here. This guy was born in Canada, taken to Afghanistan by his father at a young age, younger than 15, by the way, and then at 15, wounded during fighting of the U .S. and Taliban. And so captured by the U S 15 years old, a child taken to a black site torture prison.
0:32:51 Thomas: And the Canadian liability to speak legally here is that he was interrogated by both Canadian and U .S. intelligence officers. So they're kind of working in tandem there. So if he was tortured, it was probably by both of them. Now, here's what I want to know. Where's the consequences? What's the hold on? What's a suicidal? And then he got out of prison and bombed the World Trade Center. I don't know.
0:32:59 Lydia: Mm -hmm They
0:33:14 Thomas: It's already after. Hold on. Let's see what the consequences because that's the framing of this problem. Right. So too much empathy did a thing. And then Then what happens? So hold on. Let's go over it again real quick. They didn't give him anything.
0:33:13 Lydia: Settled because he was suing them.
0:33:36 Thomas: He was going to win probably.
0:33:38 Lydia: Yeah, he wanted 20 million. They felt like the court could award 40 million and they said, how about we offer 10 and a half million?
0:33:47 Thomas: Well, hold on though. The Canadian government is powerless and they probably took a plea bargain. If they settled for 10 million, I'm sure they were like, we're going to lose.
0:33:52 Clip: The University of Minnesota Twin Cities Medical School required the class of 2026
0:33:57 Thomas: So anyway, there's that. So it's not fucking Justin Trudeau, you asshole. Lying asshole. Uh -huh. Yeah.
0:34:03 Lydia: All right, that's it.
0:34:08 Thomas: Oh, we'll do a different thing. Oh what what oh okay hold on wait you hey dude you forgot to finish your video because you were supposed to say and then he went and shot up a school because you let him out and he took you know he took that money and he paid to uh what what
0:34:10 Lydia: That's all he says. Yeah. Yeah. He leaves out Omar's age.
0:34:32 Thomas: What did he do what's the what's the suicidal empathy part anything bad this
0:34:32 Lydia: He leave out anything, anything that is actually part of the story. He just uses Justin Trudeau. He uses these little catchphrases and stuff that are going to get people to watch this video. It's so lazy.
0:34:39 Thomas: Is so low effort hey um asshole how much should we pay a child who was detained and tortured at a torture prison like just what's what's the like non -suicidal empathy rate for that you fucking asshole so we're on another thing all right
0:35:10 Clip: To pledge their support for diversity, equity, and inclusion, not to mention honoring all indigenous ways of healing that have been historically marginalized by Western medicine. Because, as they wheel you into the operating room, what you really want to know is that your surgeon, who got there for some reason other than merit, is up on how the local tribes handled medical problems 500 years ago.
0:35:15 Thomas: What? Yeah.
0:35:36 Clip: Under the Biden White House,
0:35:37 Lydia: Pause. Okay.
0:35:38 Thomas: Oh, hold on. We're already on to new things. Now, here's the thing about this guy. He's so dumb. I don't want to put you out of a job, but you actually don't need us because he didn't tell you anything. He's a liar. He just said a hypothetical that wasn't real.
0:35:52 Lydia: That That hypothetical is not real. The oath that he cites, cites that I'm using that loosely, you guys, is real. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The way that he closes it out. Right. Yep. Yes.
0:35:59 Thomas: Oh, I know. Yeah, I'm saying, sorry. I meant to say, even granting all the first stuff he said, he didn'T identify a problem. So they said an oath. Both.
0:36:09 Lydia: They said an oath. So here's the thing. The class of 2026, they said this oath August 2022 as they were doing their white coat ceremony, like as they're entering into medical school kind of thing. And it did contain that language, including the line about honoring, quote, all indigenous ways of healing that have been historically marginalized by Western medicine. But here's the thing. The school's media relations office had to get involved in this. And they said that it's common practice across American medical schools that incoming students work with faculty to write the updated oath reflecting their class's values. So this was reflective of the people who were taking this oath. This was important to those people. Yeah, that they alter the oath based on the things that they value within their class. And this has been a tradition since the 90s.
0:36:54 Thomas: Oh, it's like a yearly thing. Like it's a different. Hmm, Pocrates.
0:37:06 Lydia: And it's basically like an evolution of the Hippocratic Oath, where you don't just take the standard Hippocratic Oath. People iterate upon it and move with it through time and space right like that they they try to make it more relevant for the time that we're talking about they're not stuck in you know the 30s or whatever right like when when the hypocrite I don't know when the hippocratic hippocratic oath was was defined but yeah who knows but it is specifically written by a committee of incoming students. It's not imposed upon students by administrators.
0:37:46 Thomas: It's also meaning like this is one where I'm happy to I'm able to say I think that's kind of dumb. Like, I don't think you should honor the indigenous ways of healing. It's one thing if you want to say like recognizing any instances where that happened. It's weird to be like honoring all ways of whatever. However it sounds like it's just a little ceremony thing that doesn't matter and doesn't affect you in any way and you didn't identify any actual problem you fucking lying asshole yeah
0:38:14 Lydia: Yeah. And then he spins it to try and make you think that the doctor that you're going to see is thus unqualified.
0:38:20 Thomas: Right yeah because they all they had to do is say that oath and they gave them oh boy you get right right after your oath no we're not even worse there's a
0:38:26 Lydia: Here's your medical license. Yeah, they're waiting. Cut them open.
0:38:30 Thomas: Patient waiting they're in the or now yeah you You said the oath. You're qualified because indigenous
0:38:36 Lydia: Yeah here. Here's another thing that you know that this is freaking BS. FIRE raised concerns when they heard about this oath because of course they did. And they said, is this actually truly voluntary? Or are students compelled to recite it? And I just, I'm not interested. I'm no interested at all. And I don't know, like you're in a room with hundreds of other students. You raise your hand and you say the words you want to and you don't say the ones you don' t want to. Who's going to catch it? Yeah.
0:38:45 Thomas: Doesn't matter. Yeah. Tell me. I had to say the stupid fucking Pledge of Allegiance every day. I mean, I didn't, but like, oh, boy, it's it's where. Yeah, actually. Wait, why? You're such a crowd participation person.
0:39:12 Lydia: I stood up and I didn't say any words ever because I never believed in it. Well, okay. Sorry. When I was younger, I would say the words except for under God.
0:39:22 Thomas: Oh, OK. But you were I forgot you weren't raised. Oh, nice.
0:39:28 Lydia: I would drop out for under God and then I would join back in. And then in high school, I think I just didn't say it half the time if I was mad at the country.
0:39:33 Thomas: See, because what I was going to joke about is that it wasn't really for any political reasons that I didn't say it. It was purely on an anti-group participation mindset, which I think is so like, it serves me well.
0:39:47 Lydia: Yep. It's very you.
0:39:47 Thomas: Serves me well, I've avoided so many cults and bullshit from just not really liking doing what all the other idiots are doing. It's not a bad rule sometimes, but anyway, explain this to me again. Let's say this is a real medical school, right?
0:40:03 Lydia: Yeah no it's University of Minnesota
0:40:03 Thomas: It's not like fake. Okay. Okay. So real medical school, someone does a real degree, like the whole thing that they do, medical, whatever, all that school residents, I don't know, whatever you call it. They do all that, right? They learn it all. They're top of their class. Cause there has to be, it's a class. So there, let's say the top everybody. And then they get to this oath and they say it and they're like, fuck, now I can't do medicine. I can only do the fake stuff. Damn it. Damn damn it. What's the process by which that yields an unqualified doctor?
0:40:20 Lydia: Yeah someone's at the
0:40:39 Thomas: God, it's just, you're such a fucking scared little piece of shit. That's all these, oh, I'm so scared of everything everybody else is doing has no effect on me at all or on anything. Yeah.
0:40:38 Lydia: Top and I'm gonna pretend like it does yeah
0:40:54 Thomas: It's so so pathetic, dude. Whiny asshole. I hate this guy so much.
0:40:57 Clip: The Federal Aviation Administration implemented a recruitment program for people with severe intellectual and psychiatric disabilities. Imagine how safe you'll feel when that woke logic reaches the cockpit. No society can long survive such an explosion of suicidal empathy.
0:41:18 Thomas: Wait, what? Did something happen?
0:41:20 Lydia: Yeah no so nothing happened that language about recruiting people with targeted disabilities including intellectual and psychiatric disabilities deafness blindness missing limbs epilepsy paralysis it's been on the agency website the FAA throughout Trump's first term it's been there since 2013 so even their own the trump era faa aviation safety workforce plan 2020 to 2029 they explicitly said the faas office of aviation safety would quote continue to promote and support the hiring of people with disabilities and targeted disabilities disabilities
0:41:30 Thomas: That doesn't apply to fucking pilots. Yeah. Well, and they're doing jobs that they can do. So stupid.
0:42:00 Lydia: This is federal employment equity exactly it's required under a law passed in 1973 that there's a large number of positions across an agency the vast majority of which don't have anything to do with air traffic control or flying a plane so this is something that spiraled because of Fox News, because of the New York Post, it went viral in like early 2024 because of the Alaska Airlines door blowout that happened, that they tried to cite this as a reason that happened.
0:42:21 Thomas: Yeah, duh. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Nothing the fuck. I was just going to say, You know what every single air fatality, anything of any major kind, you know, every single one of them is caused by corporate fucking greed. Yes. Corporate greed.
0:42:50 Lydia: Capitalism. Yeah, exactly.
0:42:55 Thomas: The fucking the Boeing. Yeah. Boeing has killed more people. I think in the sense that everybody's worried about the whole flight control system thing. That was horrifying. Honestly, that was kind of scarring to read about that they had this elevation control system thing in order to get around regulations, to get a round regulations.
0:42:56 Lydia: Shortcuts. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah? Mm hmm. Right.
0:43:15 Thomas: They called it something or just from memory, but it's right. Largely speaking, they branded it in such a way that, oh, it's not a new system. It's just a, it's just like a modification of the system. So we don't have to do the whole training. We don't have to put everybody through new training because it's not a new system. Well, guess what? But it was pretty much a new system. And there's things that you need to know. And we got lucky in the U S because the way we do things is it is very careful. They're extremely careful. Flying is extremely safe, largely speaking. And we got lucky too, that this didn't kill anybody. I don't think here to my memory, but flights, the same exact system abroad. It's not like they're people who don't know how to fly a plane, but it's slightly less rigorous in terms of like how up on all of the systems information, everything that they have to be, slightly less. Therefore, some of these pilots didn't know that this could even happen. It's not even their fault.
0:44:06 Thomas: Like, they weren't informed of it. It's more like we got through it not because we are like the bare minimum and they're below minimum. I think our pilots and our systems are really good. Like, largely speaking, they're incredibly good. And we kind of managed to not have a horrible thing happen. Whereas other, you know, foreign pilots and airlines, they weren't quite as fortunate. And this fucking system flew their planes into the ground because of shortcuts and corporate greed.
0:44:37 Thomas: Asshole! Too much empathy for the capitalist. Suicidal empathy for the fucking capitalist. That's what's doing it. We're too empathetic for the billionaires. You asshole. Asshole. God, you're so dumb and wrong about everything.
0:44:47 Lydia: And again he tries to frame this as a Biden era situation but again as I said it existed throughout Trump's first term. It existed before Trump's third term.
0:45:00 Thomas: There's no example ever of an accident where they're like, yeah, we investigate. It turns out the pilot got up there and he's like, oh shit, I'm blind. Why am I the pilot? I'm blind. None of them are that, idiot.
0:45:11 Lydia: Yeah yeah I shouldn't have gotten this license.
0:45:16 Thomas: Yeah. Fucking asshole. Sorry to interrupt you, but it's like it's so dumb. Fucking lying idiot. It's one or the other maybe both I think both fuck you is there more do we have to do all right we're almost through
0:45:19 Lydia: No no you're good.
0:45:31 Ad: [Ad break 3 — ad music]
0:45:32 Clip: Is there a cure? Yes, but first we must understand where this madness comes from. Suicidal empathy is driven by misplaced guilt. The suicidally empathetic person feels guilty for being born in the prosperous, free West. We might call this privilege guilt, a common
0:45:35 Thomas: Is there a cure propaganda was sorry was that how Ted Bundy got those ladies he was like hey can you help me with these books and like ah I'm white I'm so lucky to be I would say fuck you no you know like a normal person would do in this situation but I've suicided because I'm white and guilty I'll help you with your books damn I'm dead so stupid fucking moron
0:46:18 Clip: Affliction among Westerners, especially affluent, highly educated ones. To inoculate yourself against this parasitic idea, you must take at the very least these three actions. First, never shut off your rational mind. Suicidal empathy tries to override your capacity for reason.
0:46:37 Thomas: Oh my god these graphics
0:46:38 Clip: It hijacks your desire to be kind, misdirects it to the wrong recipient in the wrong amount,
0:46:42 Thomas: Wait wait hold on why what are you talking about so this incredibly stupid graphic is a computer chip shaped like a brain essentially with the paths and it says empathy and normally guys it's pointed to there's there's so tough we have a victim cpu unit like a victim chip
0:47:00 Lydia: Victim is in the frontal lobe yeah
0:47:03 Thomas: In the frontal lobe and then we have victimizer chip
0:47:05 Lydia: At the like the base of your
0:47:05 Thomas: Which is bigger it's bigger just because victimizer is a longer word it's a more complicated chip that has more connections because victimizer is a longer word you see yeah
0:47:11 Lydia: Brain also like victimizer lives in the same place that your involuntary bodily functions live like breathing you know
0:47:20 Thomas: Why would suicidal empathy make you switch your empathy to the victimizer this doesn't even make sense
0:47:30 Lydia: Now I will say he did put empathy in approximately the area that you would see like the amygdala right so we're talking about emotion and things like that I know I know know yeah yep
0:47:37 Thomas: Oh that's lucky it's like the middle of the brain 100 got lucky there's no chance that was intentional but I love the idea like even on your own argument terms there should be people who are like oh my god I'm way too empathetic for the police and I'm way empathetic. Like why would, in his view, why would suicidal empathy necessarily gear you toward the victimizer? It doesn't even make sense. Why?
0:48:02 Lydia: Suicidal empathy means that you're geared towards Ted Bundy what
0:48:08 Thomas: Why would that mean that? And you weren't actually, because he was pretending to be someone who actually needed help. So that was just someone being empathetic towards someone who they thought actually needed help this
0:48:11 Lydia: And also as a system as a as a government they perceived to be a victim in some regard yeah I know
0:48:23 Thomas: Is the dumbest idiot fucking stupid idea Jesus
0:48:29 Clip: And in so doing harms you and others. Second, always ask, what happens next? Cause and effect is an immutable law. Actions have consequences, sometimes very bad ones.
0:48:31 Thomas: Yeah second
0:48:41 Clip: Third, don't be tolerant of all viewpoints.
0:48:39 Thomas: Oh man
0:48:45 Lydia: God and we get an apple and a rotten apple all
0:48:45 Clip: Not everything is as good as everything else. Some ideas are better than others. Some cultures are better than others. Some religions are more peaceful than others. These actions were once the default operating system for nearly everyone born in the West, now they are a matter of civilizational survival. The good news is this: suicide is a choice.
0:48:52 Thomas: That's of course yeah
0:49:08 Clip: Choice. The West still has time to save itself, but not much. I'm Gad Saad, author of Suicidal Empathy, Dying to be Kind, for Prager University.
0:49:03 Lydia: White
0:49:07 Thomas: What Oh Boy oh my god 2.8 million views
0:49:18 Lydia: People unbelievable So yeah so this last claim that he makes some cultures are better than others some religions are more peaceful than others like he doesn't say which cultures are better yeah but he does spend a lot of time talking about the West the West saving itself so I have an idea of what culture he thinks is better what religions he finds to be more peaceful than others. He also doesn't cite any specific, I mean, he doesn't really cite anything throughout the
0:49:30 Thomas: Yeah how do you know which what do you use to find out yeah I
0:49:48 Lydia: Entire video about where he's getting his data or his information or anything like that. And I also kind of don't believe that anything he cites in his book is going to actually be accurate.
0:49:57 Thomas: Doubt he even cites anything
0:49:58 Lydia: It's probably going to be misleading. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and I feel like he'll probably have, yeah, I agree with you. Call me empathetic you know this is suicidal empathy so I'm gonna say that his position is that western culture aka white culture is better and that christianity is the most peaceful of religions and you know it's just all of these things that just kind of feed into this classics education that prager you loves to rally behind you know we're talking hillsdale college we're We're talking like, honestly, public education in Florida now, like it's so depressing. That's just kind of the way that it is. So he tries to be scientific, even though he has no credentials in that area,
0:50:03 Thomas: He sure hasn't earned it yeah this is suicidal empathy right here yeah
0:50:49 Lydia: And then starts lumping these other things that are entirely unscientific. So then again, he can feed off of this credibility that he has stolen from other places for himself. So you can believe what he's saying. It's unbelievable. Unbelievable. This entire video is such it's like this house of cards and it's so clearly ready to fall. Yeah.
0:51:10 Thomas: This isn't I it wishes it was a house of cards it is one of the decks of cards that our fucking kids got into and ruined and there's like five cards that are even still left and they're bent and they'RE IN A PILE it's not a house yes it's not even a
0:51:19 Lydia: And I'm going to throw them in the trash. I'm just going to buy a new card deck.
0:51:26 Thomas: House oh this guy's so dumb 2.8 million views and you see all the comments too like this. This feels really not, this is entirely speculation. Look, I have a dim view of Earth, but I don't feel like it's possible that this many people are this into it. It feels very astroturfy to me. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. It's like, they're all the same dumb shit.
