0:00:02 Clip: I'm the cool dad. That's my thing. I know now what I can offer you that no one else can. Complete and utter dependence. I'm a man. I'm sensitive. I need to feel loved. I need to be desired.
0:00:22 Clip: Telling is the only part of being a father that I enjoy.
0:00:29 Tom: To Dear Old Dads, the podcast that tries to pay its taxes without Thomas' fucking help because he's a bitch-ass commie-ass bitch. I am Tom Curry and I'm joined as always by Thomas Smith and Eli Bosnick. Hello, gentlemen.
0:00:39 Thomas: Man yeah
0:00:43 Eli: Intro by Eli Bosnick, everybody.
0:00:47 Thomas: Tom I think you should keep doing those.
0:00:50 Eli: I think that was pretty good. I think there's a lot of buzz, a lot rabble on the old Discord about people really liking it.
0:00:54 Tom: Welcome
0:00:56 Thomas: Not, not much poetry to it. Not much, you know, I feel like Tom's.
0:01:00 Eli: Disagree. Disagre. Welcome to our parenting show where we're...
0:01:03 Tom: To our parenting show where we're gonna bitch about not being able to pay our taxes to the state of california
0:01:06 Thomas: This is the amazing. Oh, this is the best.
0:01:09 Eli: Did you guys get the Good Pods email?
0:01:11 Thomas: I get those all the time and I throw them away. What are they?
0:01:12 Tom: That we're yeah I
0:01:13 Eli: So Good Pod's is this podcast ranking service. They're actually very sweet, very good people. I've had conversations with them before to make sure they're not a scam. So to curtain
0:01:18 Thomas: I just assumed it was a scam.
0:01:23 Tom: Just assume it's nothing like I'm just like well that's nothing
0:01:27 Eli: A little bit, podcast listener, we get 150 emails a day being like, Hello, my friend. You have been featured on Podchat. It is the number one Podchat in the Podchativerse. Universe I believe that we could get you over one billion dollars in fuzzy cat toys please go to my google calendar for like my secretary you apparently work for me now and you find a 10 minute slot where I can explain to you you only give me a hundred dollars a day and then I put you on the pod shed so 99 of the time you gotta forget those things but some percentage of the time you're like okay let me check and see if this is real and so we are on this thing called called GoodPods. And GoodPods is basically the whole point of their organization is the iTunes is in navigable, right? Because new and noteworthy is literally hand chosen by a secret staff who iTunes won't reveal. And by the way, they're honest about that, right. That's not like me being like, here's the goss. If you ask iTunes, like how is new and note worthy chosen? They're like, we have a secret man who does
0:01:37 Tom: You're not wrong yeah
0:02:30 Thomas: Yeah it's a smoke system like like the Pope, kind of.
0:02:33 Eli: It. Exactly. Yeah. And wonderful. So there's no way to find new podcasts that aren't by celebrities who are being chosen by the same pope committee right good pods was like hey we're actually gonna like aggregate download numbers using the public iab fixtures and also we're gonna like listen to the podcasts and make sure people aren't like racist and sexists and like not put fucking ben shapiro number one in his slot because he also simulcast to youtube and uses rss spiders and all that stupid shit right they do really cool good stuff. Citation Needed, one of our other shows that Tom and I are on, is almost consistently number one, top 10 in their humor category, which is how I found out about them.
0:03:12 Eli: Yeah, they really fucking love Citation Needed. They put us up on the top of their charts all the time. But this month, my stomach dropped because we are now in their top 50 for the children's and and parenting category so it's like us and the fucking doc mcstuffins podcast and I just I need them I literally wrote them an email being like have you guys listened to this and one of the people at good pods wrote me back and they were like yeah love your stuff and I was like that I can tell you haven't because of the words you
0:03:12 Thomas: Good Pods. Oh, wow. Huh. Oh no.
0:03:28 Tom: That's not good news.
0:03:32 Thomas: Oh no. What does
0:03:45 Eli: Said just now you need to I need you to listen and put a big red label so someone's not like good
0:03:46 Tom: Dear
0:03:52 Thomas: This have to do with the subject of today's shows? Our taxes.
0:03:55 Tom: Old dad's the only top 50 good pods parenting podcast with a lot of annual analingus involved for
0:04:00 Eli: A lot of anal because I said welcome to our parenting podcast and so I always think about me
0:04:05 Thomas: Okay. I was really curious how Good Pod's was going to get worked into this scheme.
0:04:07 Eli: I always
0:04:10 Tom: There doesn't need to be a connecting thread. I feel like after this many episodes, you got to understand there's
0:04:12 Eli: You one yeah
0:04:12 Thomas: That's fine. I just, I was scared. I'm, I'm a little bit, I'm a little bit gun shy about this whole thing for reasons you guys might understand
0:04:15 Eli: Bitch I just whenever I open a show with bitch ass commie ass bitch I think about someone being like okay so we'll add the bluey cast and oh look at this dear old dads this is probably it's probably about some fun memories for them I'll just add that to the next and then leave the room and leave my kid alone with this uh this podcast so uh come back in the room no no gentlemen here here to talk about our tax journey so this
0:04:44 Thomas: How long has this been a year has it been a year that we've been into this shit this is the best
0:04:47 Eli: Has been a a year it has been a year so
0:04:47 Tom: It's been more than a year it's been more than a year yeah that
0:04:50 Eli: We found I'm gonna take you all the way back podcast listener to when we created this show me and tom were like hey you know what's a fun goof to do on our friend thomas let's call the company daddy issues llc and indeed it is and at the time to thomas's credit thomas was like hey guys know that if there's ever a serious situation we're gonna have have to tell a series of government servants and otherwise important people
0:04:53 Thomas: Please oh that's great yeah yeah
0:05:02 Tom: Was that was a good goof yeah
0:05:15 Thomas: No joke within a week of this I was like well I think we should start a PayPal for like some sort of billing for something PayPal was like no the fuck you aren't not doesn't It's not like, hey, we need to look into this or send us an email, give us a call. It's like, no. And if you ever come here again, yeah,
0:05:34 Eli: If you text me again I'll delete your personal paypal I'll reverse all your venmo transactions from the last year
0:05:35 Thomas: I'll kill you. There's no, there's absolutely no recourse.
0:05:41 Tom: To be fair when that happened I became very flexible on our company name I didn't just laugh uproariously and double down on it
0:05:41 Thomas: Nothing. Oh, no, it's too late by then. We were already, we were already done. It was daddy issues.
0:05:49 Eli: I did laugh up laurie's the end again so
0:05:51 Tom: I did Did laugh uproariously. I think it's great. I'm like, fuck PayPal. We got a good company name.
0:05:55 Thomas: So So I was like, I guess I'll add the account to like a different PayPal. I don't know what, or we didn't end up needing PayPal. It was something.
0:06:02 Tom: We didn't need a PayPal.
0:06:04 Eli: Here's what we now Now, no. Last year, we paid our taxes. So I've mentioned this on our other shows. My personal accountant, and I'm going to go ahead and say it, my favorite person in the world, is our accountant, Tony Dean. And podcast listener, you've probably listened to enough of me to know that anyone who has had to do my taxes is like watch levels unhappy with the world.
0:06:25 Thomas: The just the questions I'm not even the questions just the ways eli will talk about his tax or money situation I'm like there's I I don' t know what it is but that's wrong whatever it is is wrong
0:06:36 Eli: I don't know what what Anthony D was like before he saw into the abyss. That is my financial management, but I
0:06:43 Tom: I'll tell you what. He was my accountant up until this year as well. And I think you must have fucking ruined him when I met him. You must have ruined him because, not a normal guy.
0:06:48 Thomas: Hey
0:06:49 Eli: Think I ruined, I think he was a normal guy. And then he saw my, he was, uh, he was got a guy.
0:06:52 Thomas: Do you want do you wanna say how'd you get uh uh, hooked up with, with, you get hooked? You hooked up with this guy?
0:06:56 Tom: I'd rather not say. It referral. It It was an referral.
0:06:59 Thomas: Do you, how did you find, uh Yellow Pages? Sky, uh
0:07:02 Eli: It's a referral.
0:07:03 Tom: I didn't know any better.
0:07:04 Eli: It didn't go well.
0:07:04 Thomas: Yelp.
0:07:05 Tom: We should move on. We should move on to other more important conversations.
0:07:06 Eli: We should move on. Thank you. Yeah.
0:07:08 Thomas: You can make all kinds of jokes about companies stealing and all It's so funny now. You can make all the jokes, but now you, now you, oh, now all of a sudden
0:07:09 Eli: So no longer associated with that person trying on this accountant anyways point is tony hates me me let be very clear there are people on the internet who hate me right mentioned me on twitter and they're like no no no if tony thought he could get away with it he would murder me and with justification the first year of our working relationship I just sent him tiktok scams that were like you can hire your own kid and then pay them and that's a secret college fund that you get to write off on your tax and he was like stop texting me at home but that's neither here nor there so that's my personal account and thomas has real accountants because he's a grown -up or so we thought we file our taxes in 2022 right then a couple months later Both Tom and I get a form from the California state government being like, what's up, dudes? You owe us nine hundred dollars.
0:08:15 Tom: That is exactly what it sounded like, by the way. It's perfect.
0:08:17 Eli: And so Tom andI make the mistake, make the error of going to our friend Thomas and being like hey, Thomas, we think you might have made a mistake. Because Thomas is like, fuck you both. You slattern-eyed gomards, you dare to speak to me about how I might have possibly made a mistake if you ever open
0:08:35 Thomas: It's not how it happened no the first time I was like jesus christ what did I do and I went and no real I have this paper trail the first time I I I worst thing that could happen to me in my life is if I cause someone else a problem with their taxes like I it's a perfect um you know the the circly circles, whatever that is.
0:08:56 Thomas: Why can't I remember what that's called lately? Venn diagram. This is the second time this happened to me.
0:08:56 Tom: The Venn diagram. Gram?
0:09:01 Thomas: It's the perfect Venn diagram of like things I can't have, which is, you causing anyone trouble. That's already too much. And also money and a thing I specifically, and I'm in charge of because we're doing it. We're a California based LLC because you it's know probably not like the best way to do it but also it's the way where I am here and I'm handling it all anyway and first thing I was like oh shit and I send it to my guy well eli wants to tell take a fake version of the story so I'll make sure
0:08:56 Eli: Venn diagram target I
0:09:03 Tom: Boo,
0:09:29 Eli: Want
0:09:29 Thomas: Yeah
0:09:29 Eli: To tell if no but if you're gonna tell a real version the audience can get the real version boo
0:09:32 Tom: Boo,
0:09:31 Thomas: I I verified I was very very nervous about this and to the point where I waslike what the did we fuck up what happened and you know as usual I think I sent the check like a day late so I waslike oh maybe that's it that didn't fucking a matter.
0:09:32 Tom: Real version. Boo.
0:09:33 Eli: Truth boo I
0:09:45 Thomas: Um, and so I, I checked with my accountant.
0:09:45 Tom: That's the problem. Now the truth comes out.
0:09:48 Thomas: They're like, everything's completely fine. Totally fine. It's It's, what they have to do. California has a dumb ass system where I have to withhold because it's a California based thing. I have to withhold their income a little bit. And what I do is I send that into California and they're like cool money. We love money. And then that's nothing though. Like it can't just be like, cool. They paid their taxes. Is Tom and Eli. It looks like they're on a form that says they paid their taxes, obviously. So end of story. No, no. Tom and Levi, apparently the way California works is they have to file their return with California. Like a part of their return has to be California, even though they don't live in California. And they have like claim that money and say like, Hey, you have in your desk drawer or a check for $900.
0:09:44 Eli: Knew it check your wallet is that your nine of diamonds yeah exactly that's what we have to do so
0:10:35 Thomas: And it was the first year dad's was in in business. So I was like, no money. It doesn't matter. And so my accountant says, and I'll, I'll let you take over with the fake story. My accountant says no, we absolutely filed all this. And he's like, assuming you sent the check. I was a guest. I sent the check. You can see, I went and looked, I was, like, yeah, they took the money. There's check is cashed and it's like California. Yum, yum, yum. Thanks for the money raw. Like it says that on your bank.
0:10:39 Eli: Thank you rah
0:10:57 Thomas: And so I was just like, well then that's there's, bulletproof. Like they cashed the check. So they have it.
0:10:56 Eli: Rah rah yeah you can see that they signed it over to their surfing instructor like in all tracks that's
0:11:05 Thomas: And like my accountants are like looking at their records and like, we filed the thing. And so once I've checked, you several different ways that like, okay, this this is not a me problem. And I was trying to explain, but here's the thing that is going to not, Eli's going to tell a version of the story that, will that probably paint me or my account in a bad light. You have to understand what you have to understand what trying to explain any of this is like to Eli like what it's like say Eli okay oh god um money do you know fuck uh so there's a form and I'm it's like impossible and the way and the way
0:11:24 Eli: My point it's true nope nope you lost me there's just pornography at full volume played in the background during the phone call
0:11:44 Thomas: Or Eli will reply something completely incorrectly you're like that's now I feel like we're further away from it and so I did my best to explain that no no you don't understand it's two separate things it's like yes daddy issues has to pay the withholding yes but also you guys then have to like claim the withholdings I checked with my accountants 50 times my accountings are based in california they do work this all the time it's their job they do this exact thing and eli and tom you they're in a different state that isn't a weird surfer communist thing that does this stuff don't blame them and their accountants aren't in this weird state so okay I'll let you fucking okay you do your version
0:12:21 Eli: Thomas and his accountants they do everything right but here's the problem right whenever I have to and this was tom's case until recently now tom has a normal accountant apparently but whenever I Have to change my taxes right like if you can imagine showing up at your ex's door and being like can I have a place to stay tonight that's what it's like for me to change or alter my taxes what
0:12:39 Thomas: My god I'm sorry I actually remembered hold on eli
0:12:41 Tom: I got to chime in on this.
0:12:42 Thomas: I remembered what happened um totally forgot something happened last year around the time when I would have been getting the fucking taxes ready for you guys so I was a little late in the k1s I wasn't catastrophically late. I I was still before the tax deadline.
0:12:48 Eli: Could
0:12:58 Thomas: I know.
0:12:57 Eli: You possibly have gone been going through last year, Thomas.
0:13:00 Tom: A lot of, I'm hearing a lot about what you can't do right now thomas yeah it's
0:13:01 Eli: That's an excuse. Yeah, exactly. Quitter.
0:13:00 Thomas: I was a little distracted. Me, when is AA con? That's Easter, right? I don't know when dates are. Easter, would that be before the text? I was cutting it close, but I remember because I was on the phone with my accountant during AA con that year saying like, hey, I think I'm slightly late on this or I'm going to be late. And so what happened was I go to Eli at some some point I'm like dude I'm so sorry here's here's the here's the tax stuff for dads and eli says oh I already did all my tags I'm all done and I was like
0:13:07 Eli: Easter. Yeah.
0:13:09 Tom: Always easter yeah oh
0:13:30 Eli: Nope.
0:13:30 Tom: I do remember that and I was I remember that because I was like I was waiting for the dad's tax stuff because there's no reason to send it in if I wasn't claiming a portion of my income because I'm just gonna have to redo it and yeah I do Remember that that was funny yeah eli was like no I'm not redoing my I'm just
0:13:45 Eli: Undone.
0:13:37 Thomas: And so I totally forgot about that so so yeah I waslike how could you I'm done and then he's like no I'm not gonna do it I waslike I think you should do it he'slike yeah whatever I'll just not do it yeah
0:13:50 Eli: Didn't want to do it. So let me explain podcast listener. And I feel like you've already picked this up. If there's a possibility to do fraud, I'm doing it. The it's like click, the way Thomas feels about a vasectomy is how I feel about fraud, right? Which is like, I'll do all the fraud a maximum amount of fraud at least moments notice but I call tony right who hates me he picks up the phone he's like what and I'm like oh sorry
0:14:14 Tom: But hold on. Hold on a second, because it's the exact same thing when I call Tony. I call Tony or email Tony.
0:14:20 Eli: But that's because I broke him right
0:14:22 Tom: And hey, I'm so nice. I'm like, Hey, Tony, quick question for you. I don't have time for your question. Well, I'll just, you the question. I know they'll treat you like you are the dumbest person that has ever communicated with another person.
0:14:17 Thomas: Maybe oh I know maybe Tony fucking sucks anybody oh
0:14:38 Eli: Has P-E-S-D post Eli stress disorder and how dare you so
0:14:44 Tom: Met met anybody so furious in my entire life, no matter what, no matter what.
0:14:49 Eli: I'm like tony thomas is being a real commie bitch he says that I got paid some money and I've I've got to tell the government, but I think we can keep that between me and you and Jesus. And he's like, fuck, you're so stupid. No, we can't. What are you talking about?
0:15:07 Tom: No.
0:15:07 Eli: You have to tell them all the money you make. And I was like, shh. And he was like. No, you can't, that's fraud. You go to jail and so do I. And I'm like, oh, God, what do we do? And he said, I'm going to fix it. I have to write the government a letter saying I'll fix it!
0:15:19 Thomas: We're not even close to the letter writing time there's
0:15:22 Eli: No, he's writing the first letter. This is just the Eli's a fraud letter.
0:15:24 Thomas: There's many oh he has a correspondence
0:15:25 Tom: Okay. Cause he was going to try to fix mine with a letter too.
0:15:25 Thomas: Going yeah
0:15:27 Eli: This is just the Eli's a fraud letter so he writes the government a letter being like hey sorry
0:15:29 Thomas: He had that one already pre he has that like a template that
0:15:33 Eli: Eli is pretty sure he was allowed to keep secrets from you um don't live in his house so I missed this one here's the refile please don't send my client to jail so that we think it's all good yeah
0:15:45 Thomas: In reality this shit happens all the time it doesn't matter like people redo their times
0:15:48 Eli: So I'm like good fixed I get another letter from California Tom Tom gets another letter from the the California, right? Now, to be clear, the only reason we know this is an issue outside of my own incompetence is because it's also happening to Tom.
0:16:03 Thomas: And when that was true when it was tom also I was like fuck something's wrong
0:16:07 Eli: Something's wrong. Yeah. So we get another letter. I go to Tony. I assume he's like standing on a stool someplace with a noose around his neck, right, waiting for an ice block to melt. He's like, look, they just didn't get your stupid, you made a mistake letter. I'll send them a letter, Tom right. Writes him at the same time and is like, hey, Tony, he's like, fuck you, too. Jesus. I'm writing him a letter. I'll write him a letter. Please, please leave. I have children. Leave me. Stop texting me TikToks. How do you have my personal Facebook? But I don't stop because that's my right as an American. If he doesn't like it, he can block me. So we just continue to ignore it while we wait for the letter to go through, which may or may not be on me. I'm not willing to accept responsibility for it. So I'm gonna say no years
0:16:49 Tom: But to be fair, fucking Tony's like, yeah, the letter takes like 10 to 16 weeks before anybody's going to read it.
0:16:54 Eli: To get to him yeah
0:16:55 Thomas: And then he's right about that california like it just takes forever we have a lot of taxes to pay
0:16:56 Eli: He's an american hero I always say this he's
0:17:02 Tom: So mind, I'm like, all right, well, my accountant got all the information and then he's communicated with California and it's going to take months. So I'm just going to just sit and be like, yeah, that's why I pay an accountant actual money for this.
0:17:08 Eli: My accountant tom you fired him like a quitter he's not your accountant anymore he's mine accountant and my best friend right
0:17:15 Tom: But I've just fired him recently
0:17:19 Thomas: And so here's here's what happened at that point because again it's It's both Tom and Eli. I'm like, oh, fuck. Something's wrong. I must have done something wrong. There must be something. I go to my accountant for what is at least the second time, if not the third. I can't remember. And I'm, like, hey, they both got this notice. Like, what's happening here? What could have possibly been going? And double checks again. He's, like. No, we sent it all in. And he's ,like. All Did they cash the check? I was, like,. Yeah, California cashed the check. The money's. They have the money. And he, like., well, we just sent the form. There's nothing else to do. He told me like, this must mean that those, is there out of state, as in like not California accountant, probably isn't understanding that California is dumb because California has a weird rule with this. And he's like, they probably just don't get that you guys have to also like claim the money in a weird way, like that it's like waiting for you, but you have to like do some shit. And I was like, okay, sure. And I sent like all the instructions I could find about how you guys are supposed to do that with this specific form. And I just assumed that like okay I guess Tony D because he's you not in California decided to write a letter instead of doing the right thing and then until this I guess the second letter then Tony D's on the email with me and this is great because Eli leads off the email in case you're wondering you Eli does this he literally leads off the email of like Thomas is fucking someone idiot made a thing I'm not even exaggerating like someone idiot accountant messed this all up And so, you know, naturally
0:18:44 Thomas: I'm like, well, I don't, you can tell when Eli's not joking. I don't think, oh,
0:18:44 Eli: Humorous it's a humor it's obviously humorous I I will I give you my legal permission to read that email on air right now and tell me I am not joking Okay, because I definitely call your accountant an incompetent idiot.
0:18:59 Thomas: Yeah. I thought you were not joking, I really did. Are you telling me you were joking when you called it? Oh, okay. I exactly.
0:19:00 Tom: My god oh
0:19:06 Eli: Mean, I thought they messed up, but I definitely wasn't seriously accusing of
0:19:11 Thomas: So there's, what's the joke part then?
0:19:11 Eli: Them being an idiot. It's a fun way, because if you write someone a serious note being like, I'm really gravely upset about this error. No, you're like, I'll kill your accountant and his whole family. That's the fun way. That's fun. I'm fun.
0:19:26 Thomas: Now it all makes sense. And I was like, I've checked so many fucking times.
0:19:27 Eli: Thank you. I am fun.
0:19:30 Thomas: I've check so many times. It's this thing. And here's the key. What I think is one of the key moments in this whole debacle that we're doing an episode on for some reason. Taxes are a dad thing, right? Yeah, we got a dad's.
0:19:27 Tom: I'm fun taxes
0:19:41 Eli: Dads do taxes, and you pay taxes on your dad.
0:19:41 Tom: Are a dad thing
0:19:43 Thomas: And so so I says to Tony, I says, and I in that email is like, here's what my accountants told me. They swear we've sent it. We've checked. They have the California has the money that Tony even asked. He's like, well, send the copy of the check. I was done. Done here's the check it's gone out you can see where they took it send a copy of this send a copy of that I was like here it is all done you can have whatever copies you want because I've made extra sure that this is not my fault because I do not want to be the reason why my buddies my good business partner buddies taxes are fucked up even though I'm going through a life fucking ending goddamn legal thing at the time and the company's just been stolen from me and I'm stressed out of my mind the last thing I needed was to also fuck this up and then not fuck it up up and be accused of fucking it up when I didn't. So there's all that. And Tony D, because he's not a human being, says, I'm just going to write him a letter. I was like, well, but didn't so you didn't listen to everything that I just that my accountants just said where you
0:20:37 Thomas: Got a file of this form and that form.
0:20:37 Tom: Now let let me chime in from my side too I'm not on this other email email
0:20:41 Thomas: This is with Eli.
0:20:42 Eli: We don't let Tom be on emails.
0:20:43 Tom: I'm not on this email even though I'm as equally affected by this I don't even know this email this is the first time I'm actually finding out that this email has taken place I
0:20:46 Eli: It's not important. Tom, there's no point in bothering you. You're on your little lad bicycle.
0:20:54 Tom: Have no idea that that this this email or this exchange with tony on it is taking place so when I reach out to tony he's just like I wrote a letter and that's the extent of the communication he will even have with me right like like I get one set this is why I fired him I get one sentence answers as if I was like completely unreasonable to be worried about the multiple letters from California telling me that they're going to start placing a levy on me here.
0:20:57 Eli: Of course not. He's the notebooking you. I wrote you a letter.
0:21:23 Tom: If I don't pay them this money, you
0:21:22 Eli: Also, left out a section, which I have to tell you, podcast listener, which makes this super funny because it affects everyone that isn't me and it's entirely my fault. So Thomas's instructions for filing the form are incredible. They are literal step -by -step highlighted like hyperlinks like you're gonna go to this website screenshot here's a copy of the check again even though I already sent it to you here's the fucking form again even though I said to you this I said I immediately lose that email he might as well have not sent it to me what
0:21:51 Tom: Didn't even send it to me. So I could follow that email.
0:21:54 Eli: None of nobody got that email I literally just emailed tony and thomas and said oh and our bookkeeper for a different company and was like hey thomas julie and tony this is a notice right about the same thing that thomas has already fixed got this in the mail today is this from last year's fuck up with the guy doing our taxes wrong should I pay that's very funny should I pay it no sign off come on that's great you all don't think that's funny that's fucking great anyways so thomas is like no remember the thing tony and I can see it now in the thread which is is great tony is like hey man you need all these instructions and stuff and then thomas is like I can't do these instructions here they are again it's like literally two full paragraphs with all the attached stuff again and I'm just like I never got that thomas didn't send it so
0:22:15 Thomas: Ha ha. Japes guys. Very funny. Oh, sure. Yeah.
0:22:47 Eli: Cut to this past weekend we leave poor sweet tom out of these things because we don't need to bother his pretty
0:22:52 Tom: I have no idea. Any of this has happened. I'm literally finding out about this right now
0:22:55 Eli: Well we're about to learn how competent you are on the phone
0:22:58 Thomas: Yeah, well, Tom, I just assumed Eli was totally fucking something up and you were just handling it correctly. That's what I assumed. I didn't know I needed to, ah,
0:23:04 Tom: I the the only people I have to help me figure this out are you thomas and tony tony will not communicate with me and you've communicated all of this to eli but I don't know any of it
0:23:15 Thomas: It's possible. I didn'T know you were doing Tony at that time or something, or I didn't think about it. I don'T know. Sorry.
0:23:18 Tom: So I'm I am totally in the on the left side like I don't know who I should everybody I ask is mad at me for bringing it up I donT know what to do if
0:23:24 Eli: We don't need to bother you we don' t need to bother you that's
0:23:27 Tom: I even bring it up I get I'm like I everyone's angry with me that I brought this up okay I
0:23:31 Eli: You just ride your little lad bike you just jump on your little bike you shock yourself awake you go for a beautiful brisk ride in the morning sun Tom
0:23:33 Tom: Have no way to fix this
0:23:37 Thomas: Tom, Tom, I don't think I knew you got the second one, too, or something. Because I don't remember why we would've. I don't t know. I don remember Why we would'' ve done that.
0:23:43 Eli: Was getting all of the same letters and he was like I guess I just
0:23:46 Tom: I didn't reach out to you because I that when I got the second one I reached back out to Tony and got yelled at that he'd already taken care of it and I should just shut my fucking trap and wait and I'm Like all right I don't I should shut my fucking trap I guess and wait cuz like that's what my accountant said to do Friday
0:23:51 Thomas: So, I didn' know... Gotcha. Gotcha.
0:23:53 Eli: Cause you should so to this past weekend. Friday, right? Friday?
0:24:03 Thomas: I don'T remember.
0:24:04 Tom: Friday it was Friday because you know it's Friday before a holiday weekend which is the ideal time for this to happen well
0:24:07 Thomas: My God. Yeah, of course.
0:24:09 Eli: Tom, lived experience of Friday, and then I'll jump back in.
0:24:12 Tom: So Friday morning, Donovan comes to me and he's like, Hey, why does my chase first? He's got a, what's called a chase first account. So it's an account for kids that are under 18. That's technically an offshoot of his mom's account, right? You gotta be 18 to have your own checking account or some bullshit. So it''s, it'' 's really like a subset of his Mom's account. He's got money in his account. He''''s trying to spend it. And it says on the Chase thing that he's got X amount of money, but $0 available to spend.
0:24:35 Thomas: Wait a minute. That's not attached to you?
0:24:38 Tom: No, it's not, it's attached to his mom. His mom and I file jointly so what happened is he's trying to spend money and his his bank account basically is like you have a bunch of money but you don't have any available so I'm like well that's got to be a mistake and I call Chase and Chase gets me over to the legal hold department and then I got to begin the room with Haley because technically it's her account not mine they won't talk to me so now it's me and Donovan and Haley we're all in the room together with Chase on the phone on speakerphone and then they move us to the legal holds department and And I'm like, what in the actual fuck is going on? And Donovan's there. And they're basically like, hey, you deadbeat piece of shit. You don't pay your taxes in the state of California. And we levy, we put holds on all of your accounts. And
0:24:50 Thomas: This is fucking insane. What the fuck is happening? Yeah. All
0:25:21 Tom: We're going to take this money out. Yeah. So like Aislinn, $900.
0:25:22 Thomas: Of them. This is for $900 $900
0:25:28 Tom: And they held a lot more than $900, yeah,
0:25:28 Thomas: They I look this is insane this is absolutely insane I cannot believe that this happened even if you thought in some world that this was justified wouldn't you say okay as long as we put a hold on an account that has at least $900 that's good enough
0:25:45 Eli: Know how to solve this puzzle.
0:25:47 Thomas: Not at least not like oh no your mortgage your house belongs to us you just take $900 that would have been better had they just taken $900 I mean I don't want to speak for you Tom but would you be more happy if they were like we're just taking it right now just to be sure and they froze
0:25:47 Tom: So, right. Right. No, I know. Oh, yeah. Well, I mean, like we're trying to explain to him that. So we finally like we talked to him. They're actually super reasonable on the phone, like shockingly reasonable. We're like, well, this is a kid's account. Can't you just hold a different account? And they did agree to hold a difference. Different account and like release Donovan's funds. But like that's going to take a day or something.
0:26:01 Thomas: Your whole life
0:26:16 Tom: And it's Friday.
0:26:11 Thomas: Fuck they're like no the sins of the father must be
0:26:18 Tom: Right. Yeah, right.
0:26:19 Eli: Three generations visited. Exactly.
0:26:22 Tom: So then she tells me what the hold is for. She's like, it's from the state of California. And I'm like, mother. Now I'm blisteringly angry. Because now I have already asked my accountant a million times, can you please help me fix this? And he treats me like he's already fixed it. And even asking him is the most asinine thing I could possibly do. Even bringing it up in polite company is only for the biggest asshole to have ever asked a question in America. Because I'm like, no, I got to fucking thing. So then you call the state of California then you are on hold.
0:26:37 Thomas: He sent a letter forever for the rest of your life
0:26:56 Tom: Yeah, that is it. And then meanwhile, I'm messaging back with Thomas and Eli because now I'm worried that this is going to happen to Eli too. I'm, like, oh, shit, like they are holding our accounts or they might hold Eli's account too. Eli should know this. And then whatever I learned from this experience I could share with Eli because I don't want this to happen him too.
0:26:57 Eli: Got in in like 10 minutes. I did. It's great.
0:26:59 Thomas: He didn't
0:27:14 Tom: So I am on the phone did you say you got right through with california I
0:27:13 Thomas: This is insane he's
0:27:18 Eli: 10 minutes max.
0:27:18 Thomas: Lying there's no way there's
0:27:19 Eli: 10 minutes, Max.
0:27:21 Tom: Swear to god I hate you more than I've ever hated you in my life 10
0:27:22 Thomas: There's fucking way he's lying there's he has to be lying they
0:27:25 Eli: I'm not. I'm telling you. Max.
0:27:27 Tom: Minutes okay so I got I get a hold I
0:27:30 Thomas: Told you tom that you couldn't get a hold of him until the next week they literally told you that though
0:27:35 Tom: Well what they told me is like you know like the thing comes on it's like estimated hold time is like an hour and a half to two hours we could put you in a queue and call you when the fucking moon is blood or some bullshit and
0:27:46 Thomas: What happened is in their little work center that and eli light went on they're like fuck there's all shit all 50 states are trained for this eventuality eli bosnick's on the phone fuck Fuck.
0:27:57 Eli: It's like nuclear shutdown things that they have in all the states. How, like, you can push it and all the power grids will be susceptible to an EMP or something. It's, like. That. Yeah. So, Tom. Tom is texting us. And Tom is good on the phone the way he doesn't hate his ex-wife. Right? He's like, gentlemen, I have found my way into the depths of the labyrinth, but but I do not know if this minotaur will yet fall at my hands. And I'm like, let me handle this. It's time for E -Boss to get on the phone. I push two numbers on the phone. Two single numbers. Beep, boop. I get an answer from California. They're like, rah, what's up, Eli? What's going on? And I am like, listen, girl, it's your boy, E-Dizzle. And she's like, obviously. I have you on speedies. I was like, what is going on with the taxes? And they were like, Eli, you were right all along. You have never made any mistakes. It was Thomas' fault this entire time.
0:28:46 Eli: And I was like, this is great. Let's, yeah.
0:28:48 Thomas: To be fair, that's what Eli hears during every conversation. It doesn't even matter what it's about. Yeah.
0:28:52 Eli: I'm so happy that this isn't my incompetence because you have to understand, podcast listener, if listening to this 29 minutes of audio has taught you anything, that in a universe where there's a God, this should be my fault, right? Somehow I managed to unfile Tom's text. There's like, my incompetance is a black hole that should have sucked in the competence. But we're trying to figure out what's going not hearing that it's my incompetence so I get thomas on the phone now I know what you're thinking eli aren't tom's banks accounts the ones that are frozen don't you want to get tom on the phone no I don't bother tom with this stuff tom is texting us and tom's doing this great thing where again tom never is like put me on the fucking phone he's like if you guys would like me to jump on I can hop on I am also available to hop on the call if you need me to hop on the car let me know I didn't get a call from you because I'm just not adding him to the call because he doesn't need to bother his pretty Irish head about this.
0:29:44 Thomas: Well in in fairness I happens for eli will be
0:29:48 Tom: The same solution is fine yeah I I did try to call thomas directly but he was was just about to hop on to record so we literally had three minutes for us to talk so I wasn't able to get be like hey let's get on a conference because he literally had 3 minutes
0:29:54 Eli: He was busy on a call with me.
0:29:56 Thomas: That's true and and all I could tell tom again was like hey man I checked for the fourth time I don't know what to tell you like I went back and looked and what is crazy is again it's one thing when it's eli when you tell eli I did something tax-wise he responds a series of chirps and and beeps and words that aren't money.
0:30:17 Thomas: And you're like, I have no confidence that you did any of what I said, like at all. And that's fine. But Tony fucking D, I went back and checked the email that you just read. And I was like, yeah, I told Tony D what to do. I told him my accountant's told him that it wasn't like I was telling him as a guy, I was Like, Hey, here's what my California based account said. And he said, Well, tone was like I'll just write a letter. That's fucking nonsense. And so I'm still convinced like, well Well, it sounds like he didn't just do the thing that my guy said to do. I don't know. I've checked with my guy 50 times that it seems like Tony D didn't do it. And then we finally are on the phone with the lady in California and Eli who patches me in.
0:30:18 Eli: It's nonsense. I patched him in and we find out, glory of glories, it is not my fault.
0:31:00 Thomas: No, we out. And by the way, I want to, again, poor Tom and Eli, like they have had to tell me several times.
0:31:07 Eli: Not me at all. I'm
0:31:09 Thomas: They're saying, here's here'S another problem with it. The whole thing that needs to happen is a form 592. There are 16 different form 592s. There's one that you guys file. There is one that we give to you to tell you that we filed ours. There is a 592Q that you include with a check. There is a 594 that you could send. There is literally 10 of them. And so when they keep saying, yeah, they don't have the 592 from Dear Old Dads, I was like, well, there is no way that is true because we filed it and I have the proof that we have filed it. And they must be talking about it. I keep saying like, there must be a misunderstanding. They must be talking about like your copy that you didn't do or something. Cause I'm looking at the one we gave them. And finally we get on the phone and and I'm like, yeah. Okay. So we filed a 592 PTE. Like she should be right there. She's like, we don't have any 592 for Daryl deaths. I was like, what? You don't have any, just nothing. You don'T have a 590. You
0:31:09 Eli: Fine.
0:31:59 Thomas: DON'T have 592 PT.
0:31:59 Tom: Were were saying they didn't have a 592b either oh
0:32:02 Thomas: Uh, well, the B doesn't get filed. That just goes to you. You can attach it, but it doesn't really, it doesn't really officially get filed so that was that one you guys could have attached you don't even have to attach it but you you probably attached it to your return and
0:32:13 Tom: I'm glad that this makes so much sense I'm Glad that this is like not at all yeah this is this is good this is Good
0:32:16 Eli: All worked out.
0:32:17 Thomas: And she and of course I am sitting there just shitting bricks like are you fucking telling me that somehow this was me or my account's fault the entire time eli eli's what can you say that
0:32:24 Eli: And I'm loving, I'm so happy. Happy. Sorry, Holly, could you just repeat that one more time? I'm just setting up my mic for my external record. Can you say one more times? Because again, we for me, it's now Thomas's accountant's fault. And I'm so happy. I'm fucking happy because this is anyone's fault but mine. I'm loving it.
0:32:44 Thomas: Well and so naturally I'm shitting myself because again this is my worst nightmare I don't want to be the reason that tom's entire family's bank accounts got fucking yeah I'm like I'm so I am so embarrassed right now I'm going through my my mind. I'm like, Oh dude, I, Oh my
0:32:52 Tom: It insane
0:32:56 Eli: Tom's in line for government cheese and I'm dancing.
0:33:00 Tom: Dude I'm seriously while this is happening I'm like I'm texting with Cecil I'm going to pull money out of Cog Diss for a minute I don't have access to money and I don' know how long that's going to last this
0:33:10 Thomas: This is my, this is my nightmare. I have 75 recordings. I can't, uh, fuck. And so I go, I look through all the tax return information. It's still 2022, by the way, we haven't gotten to 2023. We'll see what happens there. But I look through all of it and I'm trying to, I'm rocking my brand. I'm like, what did I do? They have, I know they have the check. Did was like, maybe I, there's something I was supposed to do. I checked. So I checked four times with my guy and and it's not even a guy. It's a whole ass company. It's not one Tony D. It's like these are several licensed accountants and I just have one point of contact. I asked him like, hey, I'm so sorry. I know I've asked you probably six times at this point about this same issue. But I just got on the phone with the California person and in super embarrassing fashion in front of my business partner. She was like, we don't fucking have anything for D.O.D.s. so I'm dying right now and he's like okay step one do that they have the money and I was like they have I fucking we've done that 50 times they have money it's not about the money they totally have the and he was like okay well step two uh like he was like I'm going back I'm looking at our electronic filing and he checked the paper trail there he's like well it did it I don't know what to tell you like it's I'm showing you where we sent it we've I've all had the like copy the whole time that was in the package that we transmitted in And so I'm like, I don't know what, the only thing we can think of is that literally someone just fucked up somewhere in a mystery way that I'm dying here. Cause I thought I fucked up until my accountant shows me that kind of like proof that I sent you guys. And then finally I was like, well, I guess what? Somebody just ate it at California. Like somebody just like took the form and put it in their mouth and went, num, num. I'm going to eat this form instead of finally, I, I that's the only think I could think of. Is that what we're thinking?
0:33:14 Tom: Worst
0:34:49 Eli: That's what we think must have happened. Someone num -num -numbed it. The thing that matters most of all is that it's not my fault.
0:34:56 Thomas: It's not it's and oh
0:34:57 Eli: Against all odds.
0:34:50 Tom: That's it that's what
0:34:57 Thomas: Oh here sorry here's the, here's the thing I want to tie up the loose end because get on that phone and I'm like okay so they you telling me that Eli filed the thing where they that claims the money that thing I told you and she's like oh yeah he filed that I was like wait what because this whole time Tony D is making like the way he's responding is I'll I'll write a letter. I'll just write a letter. So I'm thinking this idiot just wrote a letter instead of doing the simple thing that my accountant still didn't do. No, no. I think what happened was Tony D did file the correct thing, but instead of, you know, ever mentioning that a single time throughout this entire controversy, he just said, I'll write a letter.
0:35:27 Eli: He did.
0:35:34 Thomas: He could want any one time. He could have said, hey, yeah, numbnuts, we filed the thing. That's why we think it's your fault. And I would have been like, oh, fuck, I will take that very valuable information to my accountant. And then we would, I don't know what we would have done. We still would have been like, well, we filed it. So I don'T know, but at least then maybe we would've thought like, well, there's something wrong. We'll send another one or something. But instead Tony had his dismissing tone of we'll send a letter and he ended the email with, yeah, there'S some mistakes made, you know, tactical mistakes. And I was like, do you, Oh, what were they? Do you want to tell? Never responded.
0:35:34 Eli: He's been driven to madness.
0:36:05 Tom: No, he'll never tell us. He'll never say he wouldn't look. Here's the thing. Let me, let me also chime in real quick. Cause like Tony refused to provide me a copy of the letter. I asked him like, I asked them like three times because if somebody would just tell me what the letter said, then I would be able to understand the problem and the solution. I but real quick, here's, swear to God, why won't anyone just talk to me? I fuck you guys.
0:36:15 Thomas: All signs were that Tony was the asshole.
0:36:24 Eli: Now, Tom. Tom, would you like to know why Tony didn't give you a copy of the letter? It's because he gave me a copy. He gave me the copy of The Letter for you.
0:36:32 Thomas: Really? Oh my God.
0:36:35 Tom: Guys, I have no, I don't, I'm not on the emails, I don't get copies of the letter. All I get is the angry missives from the state of California telling me I owe money and then my kids can't use their fucking checking accounts. There's whole conversations I am not a part of. Why?
0:36:40 Eli: We don't want to bother you, buddy.
0:36:43 Thomas: And frozen children's accounts. Yeah. $900. $900 for this. All
0:36:54 Tom: Why won't you guys just loop me in so I know what's happening?
0:36:54 Thomas: This for $900? It's crazy.
0:37:01 Tom: I am a good problem solver. I can't do this.
0:36:59 Eli: No that's not necessary I don't think that's nice okay you're
0:37:04 Tom: I am
0:37:04 Thomas: This is an unsolvable problem.
0:37:05 Eli: Not a good crop okay you know I
0:37:06 Tom: An excellent problem solver if I have even any of the information no
0:37:10 Eli: To call the state again because you were sitting there mumbling murder words and they could tell for on hold for nine hours
0:37:15 Tom: I I am super good with people on the phone eli bosnick I get paid a lot of real actual w2 american money for being good on the throne that is 99 of my life
0:37:25 Thomas: Well, and what's amazing is, Tom, you eventually talked to somebody and they said it has to be a $592. And they swear up and down. And
0:37:32 Tom: They swore and I clarified and with them like aggressively because this is something I do all the time in my real life is I will always say day, I'll say, no, no. Not aggressive.
0:37:39 Thomas: Be aggressive. Yeah. I'm just kidding.
0:37:42 Tom: Super polite. But I will make sure I'll say, I need to repeat back to you. And forgive me. This is just my misunderstanding. But, I'm going to repeat that to you to make sure that I understand so that I don't make any mistakes, you know, just on my end. And people love that And because then, I say back to them exactly what they just said to me. And I did that twice.
0:37:59 Tom: And, I said, it's a 592, not a 592B or T or any other letter combination thereafter. Absolutely, sir. It's a 592. I said, cool. I'm looking at it online. So I just need to have the withholding entity fill this form out and this goes away. Yes. Okay. So, I thought I understood the problem. I'm like, great. The withholding entity just needs to fill out form 592 and that's what I'm texting to you guys.
0:38:11 Thomas: And it's yep
0:38:23 Tom: I am like, hey, I think I figured this out.
0:38:23 Thomas: Yep yep and I was like well we did but it's a 592 pte and
0:38:29 Tom: And then that made me want to kill myself because I just asked somebody
0:38:31 Thomas: Yeah and I don't blame you I don'T blame you yeah and and I'm really believe me I am very worried at this point so I again I go back I ask my accountant hey they're saying 592 not 592pte and then we both look, my accountant and I separately look up the fucking instructions black and white on the form that says, hey, if you're a pass -through entity, which we are, you do not file a 592. You only file a 592 PTE. And so it's like to underscore how fucking stupid this is. You could have people on the phone telling you the wrong information and somehow you're supposed to do it. I can't tell you how dumb this is, this means that for this whole time, even though impossibly they don't have our 592 PT. I can tell you what they do have. They have the dear old dad's tax return that has your names on it and says, Oh, you owe him $900. They Have the check for $900 for each of you attached to it was a little fucking 592Q or whatever that says, Hey, this is $900 that is for dear old dads. They they also have your return. They all have your returns in which you guys both, Apparently, Tony D did the right thing and just decided to never tell anyone out of kindness of his heart so we'd never have any fucking idea. He filed the right things. You guys both. So, imagine that.
0:39:32 Tom: They have my return yeah he
0:39:44 Thomas: California has the money.
0:39:38 Eli: Told me
0:39:40 Tom: Told eli all he told me was to fuck myself
0:39:48 Thomas: Three different ways that the money goes to tell it where to go. But you know what they don't have? The fourth fucking way to tell them where the money is supposed to go, so they have to freeze your child's account. That's the only thing they can do. There's nothing else they can doing. Too. That's what else are they supposed to do? Fucking insanity.
0:39:45 Eli: Donovan's
0:39:59 Tom: And then I'm downstairs trying to explain to donovan that I'm not a deadbeat right I'm like I pay my bills I just this is just a mistake and like yeah
0:40:11 Eli: Like no I have another dad who does this kind of stuff I get it do you want to you know what he does is he buys he buys beer for kids outside of like liquor stores do you wanna do you I'm gonna show you how he does that he's got like a cool sometimes setup he sells the rims off the outside of his tires but he's not a good a good pawn guy do you wants to talk to my other dad's pawn guy he could probably hook you up you could sell your little boy bike but look the important thing is it wasn't my fault and it never affected me and everyone
0:40:13 Tom: I know right
0:40:15 Thomas: This makes me feel worse. Oh no. No. Oh my God.
0:40:24 Tom: Oh, my God. It
0:40:35 Thomas: Amazing. It wasn't Eli's fault. Yeah, it wasn't crazy.
0:40:44 Tom: That it ever affected
0:40:45 Thomas: Well, they did freeze. I don't know. Did you mention they did freeze your accounts too? I I don't even know if he said it.
0:40:47 Eli: Was so here's the best part right because I'm an incompetent embezzler they were like oh we we tried to freeze your account we don't have them and I was like that's right because my I'm always on a swivel you never know which way I'm coming you never know whichway I'm going state of california that's
0:40:56 Tom: Me. That's. Well.
0:41:02 Thomas: My God. A year later.
0:41:03 Tom: And I can't even look until tomorrow because they froze it on a Friday. They got to fax it over. And then it also was a holiday weekend.
0:41:07 Thomas: Of course, some fucking asshole is like, hmm, what should I do? Should I maybe just, I don'T know. I can save this for Tuesday and freeze some poor guy's account for $900 fucking dollars. Or should I send it over at 4 .55 on a Friday before a holiday weekend? Ah, I think I'll do that. It's insane. What,
0:41:28 Eli: Mean what are the chances that this guy has received all these letters and received no communication about them, right? Someone has obviously been keeping this guy in the loom the whole time.
0:41:35 Thomas: It's $900. Hundred fucking dollars. Come on. Oh my God.
0:41:39 Tom: I want to add too that I fired tony but so here like cecil and I both used tony for years for years and years we used them but we we got some bad advice from him list this last year and I we went to a different account who was still terrible and we have fired that guy I got so like I'm I'm between accountants at the moment but it's
0:41:51 Thomas: Way. Crazy. Jeez.
0:41:43 Eli: Rude. Still use Tony. Love him with my whole heart. Disagree. No way. Sounds like you guys are the problem to me. Tony seems to have worked out perfectly for the Evos.
0:42:01 Tom: Fucking horrible he's horrible so but But like I fired Tony, but I also paid him. Right.
0:42:04 Thomas: Knows what Eli's taxes are. Yeah.
0:42:08 Tom: So we did our taxes. I paid him in full. And then he asked me about the filing. And I said, hey, we're actually going to go with someone else this year. And he blew his top over email. He actually was just absolutely lost it. And I didn't respond to his like bullshit.
0:42:18 Thomas: Very professional. Very dry.
0:42:20 Tom: Right, because I don't need to respond to that. And then later, though, I get another one of these letters and I ask him about it in the email thread. So I find the email threat where I had paid him to help me with this problem. Him and I replied to it and he's like oh pretty cool of you to respond asking for help now after you fired me and I'm like I already paid you for this service this is actually in the email thread you know
0:42:32 Thomas: A secret letter that only he could see and not you.
0:42:42 Thomas: That's unbelievable. That is so unprofessional. Can I just tell you a real accountant? What what happens if I, no,
0:42:47 Eli: Crazy unprofessional of you, Tom.
0:42:49 Tom: I was unreal it was unreal I
0:42:52 Eli: Go easy Easy on him, Thomas. So easy on him. His bank account's got for us.
0:42:54 Thomas: A real account. That is insane. That isn't saying,
0:42:56 Tom: I purposely found the email where
0:42:58 Eli: You should call and apologize to Tony.
0:43:00 Tom: I paid him for this surface to fix it to reply to and he was basically like Like, you can fuck yourself sideways and I'll never talk to you again. I'm like, cool, cool.
0:43:07 Thomas: My God, Jesus Christ.
0:43:08 Eli: He would never do that to me.
0:43:10 Tom: So when all this happens, I literally have no idea who I'm supposed to go to because I don't have an accountant. The guy who represented me in 2022 will no longer talk to me. It was horrible.
0:43:22 Thomas: That's like, you could report him for that. Like he ha that's not, this guy has no professional anything at all. We, my brother, um, had to leave our, so he was the one who found me my accountant. He had to lead because his business got so complicated that they were were like not they had someone leave and they couldn't keep up with it and when he left you know what it like an actual decent accountant does they're like oh yeah sorry we okay we have so much fucking work that like yeah we get it we weren't quite keeping up sorry you know like that's what a real accountant does like jesus all right yeah our bad like we just because when they're a good accountant they have so much work that one client isn't make or break for them but But Tony D is like, no, you're my last client. You and Eli Bosnick.
0:43:38 Tom: Comfortable doing it. Yeah.
0:44:07 Eli: He's perfect. In every way, you guys are just afraid.
0:44:08 Thomas: What an asshole.
0:44:09 Tom: Paid him in full, though. Paid them in full with a very nice, thank you so much for all your time like you know
0:44:11 Thomas: What a fucking asshole. Yeah. Thank you for your letter writing and not just telling Thomas that you filed the form that he asked you to file 50 times, which would have saved like a lot of this trouble.
0:44:24 Eli: I think it was you guys.
0:44:25 Thomas: That was an episode of Dear Old Dads or something. I don't know. That was a year of our lives, everyone. Sorry that you had to sit through the story.
0:44:26 Tom: That was an episode of dear old dads
0:44:31 Thomas: Unreal.
0:44:29 Eli: Dear old ends. You're welcome, everybody. The point is, it wasn't my fault and everything mattered.
0:44:34 Thomas: Auto ads. No, I don' know.
0:44:31 Tom: Though we didn't even we didn'T even like intro the auto ads this
0:44:39 Thomas: It's okay we didn't do an episode it's fine tom oh
0:44:41 Eli: It's perfect there. Loved it. Well so if you're a competent accountant uh reach out to tom he needs your help but I I'm here with my good friend tony and I always will be t -dog always will be
0:44:49 Tom: Jesus Christ.
0:44:43 Thomas: God I illinois yeah he's not Eli's not, this isn't a bit, Eli's still staying with Tony, everybody. Like that's, that's insane.
0:44:58 Eli: Always will I
0:44:58 Tom: Jesus, what does he have to do?
0:45:02 Eli: Still see dick seaman and he gave me a third ball it's about loyalty
0:45:07 Thomas: Maybe that should have been a lesson to you.
0:45:09 Tom: There's a, I will say, you could say a lot about Eli, but you cannot question his loyalty. Like, you should question his royalty, but your loyalty is not. You can't.
0:45:17 Thomas: He, no, he should question
0:45:18 Tom: He should definitely question his loyalty.
0:45:19 Thomas: His loyalty, but everybody
0:45:09 Eli: Thank you I should that's true and by the way if you're wondering if you'RE worried about my other podcasts um I have so little financial control over my other shows that uh when puzzle in a thunderstorm started its bank account we all had to be there and we signed and we were all there and we signed and they gave us our debit cards and as they were handing me mine he took mine folded it in half snapped it into several pieces and threw it in the garbage in front of our banker he was like oh no he doesn't need this and they were like oh we have to and he was okay now it's in pieces now you have it they
0:45:21 Thomas: Else doesn't need to. Oh my God. What did that poor banker think? They're like, geez, this is like some weird sexual situation.
0:45:56 Eli: Were they were oh god they haven't in some conservatorship or something all right gentlemen before we go elmer fudd and bugs bunny are robbing a liquor store And what is this, whiskey? And Elmer says, oh, it's whiskey, but not as whiskey as wobbing a bank.
0:46:00 Tom: Jesus christ I

0:47:14 Thomas: Great sure what
0:47:19 Eli: Was like, what is going on with the taxes? And they were like, Eli, you were right all along. You have never made any mistakes. It was Thomas' fault this entire time.
0:47:27 Tom: Why won't anyone just talk to me?
