0:00:02 Clip: I'm the cool dad, that's my thing I know now what I can offer you that no one else can Complete and under-dependent I'm a man, I'm sensitive I need to feel loved, I need part of being a father that I enjoy
0:00:28 Eli: Welcome to Dear Old Dads, the podcast that's not afraid of missing Tom Curry. I'm Eli Bosnick, and I'm joined, as sometimes, by Thomas and Lydia Smith, hosts of the Where There's Woke podcast. Thomas, Lydia, welcome back to the program.
0:00:43 Thomas: Oh, hi.
0:00:44 Lydia: Thomas, welcome to the program.
0:00:46 Thomas: Eli, welcome to the program. No, you, you welcome to the program, yeah.
0:00:48 Eli: Thank you. That's right. I am welcome. And now we have some good news for you, podcast listener. As you know most of the time when tom is not on our show it is because a sort of uh lovecraftian horror has visited him his neck has popped out of his throat yeah
0:01:05 Thomas: And that's also true again this time. So, the good news is it's exactly what you think and he's in a swamp somewhere. I don't know.
0:01:14 Eli: I would love that a swamp made of gasoline and he only guides himself by torch that would be the usual tom affair but what happened this
0:01:20 Lydia: Is he at Heath and Anne's wedding that we're not invited to? Too. Just Tom.
0:01:21 Thomas: That would be so funny.
0:01:23 Eli: Week no yeah he's he's actually doing the ceremony yeah yeah to the wedding yeah Yeah, he's doing a Thor. And then when she pulls back the veil, it's going to be Tom. We're just tricking Heath into marrying Tom. I do. Gotcha. But no, we're actually we're really pleased to announce that this week what happened is Tom got a call about whether or not he could make a doctor's appointment. He looked at his calendar and saw that this is when we record our show. And he said, yes, he can make that doctor's apartment. Appointment. Because look, usually we sort of have to be careful about like Tom's health or well -being or his family or his divorce or his life. He's gone through all this horrible stuff. Not this week. This week he was like, I have chosen to do a different activity during that time and place. So that's where Tom is. I'm going to give you his cell phone number. And when you hear this episode, call him and tell him to get back to work.
0:02:09 Lydia: Like name
0:02:10 Thomas: This yeah we can dox his ass we can reveal his medical record he's fine with it so which prescriptions is he on
0:02:24 Eli: Yeah, he's on all of them.
0:02:24 Thomas: Let's just go through his medical record right now
0:02:26 Lydia: Some. Yeah, all of them.
0:02:27 Eli: Yeah. Yeah, exactly. But guys, do you know the only thing worse than being abandoned by your...
0:02:30 Thomas: It's phoebe having a tantrum let's was this intro shenanigans we got we should or should we wait until after the ads oh okay guy right because they really want to get to
0:02:34 Lydia: I think we should wait till after the ad so people aren't waiting 10 minutes to get to the first ad break.
0:02:40 Eli: That's fair. The love of the ads. But hey, if you don't love the ads, why not head over to patreon .com forward slash dear old dads where you will be giving Tom money for this episode. Isn't that fun? Isn't it fun that Tom's still going to get paid this week? It's crazy. You would think he wouldn't, but he will. He will. Patreon .com forward slash dear old dads pay tom no matter what he chooses to do rip it to tom that was how I used that intro to rip it into tom so
0:02:53 Thomas: That yeah yeah
0:02:58 Lydia: He will yeah rip into it pretty
0:03:20 Ad: [Ad break 1 — ad music]
0:03:22 Eli: Smiths we were about to get on to talk a little father's day I think we're gonna get to it but then disaster struck and we yeah we started to talk about it off air and then we were like wait wait wait it's something terrible happening to our families. That means it belongs right here on Dear Old Dads. Yeah, exactly. Fill it in.
0:03:29 Thomas: We were literally
0:03:29 Lydia: Much yeah save it for the people people. Yep.
0:03:39 Thomas: Late content baby uh no but it is actually really helpful to talk about this stuff and get we get a lot of good feedback and tips, but yeah, we're literally late for this recording. Normally would be fine because Lydia, like a hero can handle these things when I'm set to record, you know, she can handle this kind of things, but we were both going to record and she got, yeah. Once again, it is all Tom's fault.
0:04:01 Lydia: Thanks, Tom.
0:04:05 Eli: What's he supposed to do? Go to the doctor on any of the other hours on any other day? Any of the others days?
0:04:05 Lydia: Yes.
0:04:05 Thomas: I hope we can. It's a very important appointment for the kid and it's, it's important, but anyway, Lydia got all the way to
0:04:14 Lydia: Let me set the scene.
0:04:16 Thomas: School with Phoebe. Yeah, go ahead.
0:04:18 Lydia: Let me set this scene first. So I took Daisy to her dog daycare. I took Remy to his daycare, yeah.
0:04:23 Thomas: Please, his dog daycare. He pretty much needs one. Yeah.
0:04:26 Lydia: And I messaged Thomas and I said, all right, I'm heading back. This is kind of my ETA. If you could get the kids dressed, tell them to go get dressed so they're ready to go when I get home, that would be great.
0:04:36 Thomas: To which I did. And I said, hey, kids, get dressed. And I saw Arlo go get dressed I saw phoebe wearing clothes. So I figured phoebes always ready. She's always ready she's always set I saw her wearing clothes I was like cool they're both dressed I'm going to continue to try to sleep because I'm dying and I need to be awake enough to record in five seconds and then it turns out phoeba was not dressed she was she was wearing pajamas that looked like clothes and every time I say get dressed and she's wearing pajamas they look like clothes she goes I am dressed this is what I'm so I don't I just figured she was ready like I was like all right she looks ready no yeah she figured she was on a break yeah
0:04:52 Lydia: Well, well, yeah, yeah. Yeah. But notably, notably she didn't have her brace on yet and she didn'T have something right. And she didn'T HAVE something over her brace. So she gathers her stuff. They climb in the car and she puts on her brace once we park. And then the dress that she picked out to wear over her brace. Well we just got a new brace because she's been growing like a weed and she needed a new new brace and the dress that used to cover her old brace does not cover her new brace because it's shaped slightly differently cue meltdown cue melt down it was I don't either it just went from perfectly fine to a full freak out because you could see a tiny little bit by her armpit it It really was not noticeable.
0:05:28 Thomas: Bigger and yeah yeah well I don't I mean yeah I don't even really blame her it's like yeah it doesn't matter but it's yeah yeah
0:05:54 Eli: It's about not seeing the brace.
0:05:54 Lydia: And everyone knows she wears her brace. Yeah. Yeah.
0:05:57 Thomas: And it's also about her control of situations situations. Like I think, cause I tried to tell her, I was like, Hey, everyone knows you have a brace.
0:05:57 Eli: Okay, got it. Yeah, got him.
0:06:04 Thomas: Like you, she, it's not like she hides it.
0:06:05 Eli: We all talk about it when you're not around. We laugh so hard. Our tummies hurt yeah oh
0:06:08 Thomas: No, like she takes it off at school.
0:06:10 Thomas: It's not as though she always keeps it under like a, one of those dresses that I don't know, the Mennonites wear the, whatever the, the, what are those big, those ones, the weird, and then they wear the head things. I see. I'm too fucking tired. I know that's yeah, that's true. Yeah. You know, the one that makes the women wear weird shit. That's not helpful, is it? Probably really sexist.
0:06:21 Eli: You're talking about so many religions honestly I there's literally only one that I don't want you to be talking about. So you could be talking about Mennonites, Hasidic Jews I'm fine with you being talking about those I bet there's a couple of the Asian ones that they have a monk who mm -hmm we're gonna take on all but one of those religions today sort of
0:06:44 Thomas: Oh boy. They're terrified of modernity. Gosh, this isn't helping. Yeah. And so just to clarify, like, cause I think people might assume from that tantrum that it's a secret at school that she's always kept her brace hidden under her clothes or something, which it's just not like she, but this is about, this is how she is. Yeah.
0:07:03 Lydia: I'll pick her up and it's sitting on a desk. If she's taking a break, like it's out in the open. In you know all of her best friends know about it so
0:07:09 Thomas: It's not a secret. This is about her control of the situation, which I get. But this is the kind of thing, and there's probably a million things like this where we've worked it into our psyche of what's going to set our terrorist child off, which I have all the sympathy for, but she's a terrorist. It's sort of like when terrorists do terrorist stuff and you're like, well, I get it. You're like I get get it. You know, conditions are not great where you are. So I understand why you're turning to terrorism, but at the same time you've just blown up my car. Yeah. But it's really hard. Like she turns into the Tasmanian devil. She turns into the, you know, the horror movies that Lydia can't watch because she's too scared with a, where a kid will like turn around backwards and watch spider walk. It's like that. Like it, it literally was like that she did a, I was trying to talk to her and she did it of like she just yells like and then tries
0:07:28 Eli: Like those religions where they cover people and it's like they don't want to be covered up like that yeah the people of pennsylvania are long oppressed yeah
0:07:51 Lydia: Scary it is very scary her
0:08:00 Thomas: To she clawed me like she yeah it's she goes insane and so we're like well okay this isn't being resolved within four minutes until recording so thanks to Eli for delaying I was like um we need a minute
0:08:00 Lydia: Face contorts it's really really intense
0:08:13 Eli: And you're both such chill people like have you ever considered how ironic it is to have a kid with these wild emotions considering that you are both among the chillest most calm even -handed human beings I've ever met because I've watched you guys go through the worst part of your lives almost certainly and you were both like yeah no it's not great it's disappointed pretty disappointed pretty disappointed in this house being on fire
0:08:41 Thomas: I think if you look under the surface there's different kinds of not chill I'm just tired
0:08:46 Eli: And they combined to make Phoebe you guys front pooped out all your not chillness when you had
0:08:48 Thomas: Yes, yes, absolutely. Because she has my performance anxiety type thing, like getting anxious at a new situation. I don't really have that as much, but I feel like it's that same acute kind of anxiety that I have or is in my family.
0:08:53 Lydia: Yeah and she
0:09:03 Eli: Phoebe
0:09:05 Lydia: Has my impression management issues it's
0:09:07 Thomas: Yeah, Lydia may seem calm, but in her brain, there's no telling what's happening. It's it's there's things that I'll never know.
0:09:16 Lydia: In there I just keep it to myself yeah yeah I don't
0:09:17 Eli: She's cupcake dog we don't know it but she's Cupcake
0:09:21 Thomas: I don't know what that is. What's kept you there?
0:09:22 Lydia: Either
0:09:22 Eli: Dog the meme where it's It's the dog is looking at the cupcakes with the candles on them, and then it's the music from Platoon in the background.
0:09:28 Lydia: Oh yeah oh yeah that is me
0:09:32 Thomas: I don't know. Yeah, it's it' s so there' s a lot. There' s lot going on. Occasionally, it' ll come out. Lydia will express a crazy Lydia thought, and I' ll be like, what? That' s that was weird.
0:09:44 Lydia: Yeah I'll know I'll be like did you ever experience this like when you were a kid and I'll explain something he's like that is not something that
0:09:50 Thomas: And it'll be a thought pattern that's sort of except it's a bit it's more about psychology yeah it's like thought patterns that I think lydia doesn't maybe didn't
0:09:51 Eli: Oh, that's a Tom thing. Oh, no, no. It's a thought pad. Yeah. It's not like a, so you're left in the bear cage at the zoo because it's a Tuesday.
0:10:04 Thomas: Realize yeah but then the funny thing about that and we've talked about this eli I know you've had some experience with this too which is so she comes in she turns inside out and spider walks backwards inverted
0:10:05 Lydia: People yeah
0:10:14 Eli: Mm -hmm. Yeah. Throws up pea soup at you. Right. Yeah, exactly.
0:10:15 Thomas: Up the stairs and then crawls on the ceiling and you know screaming clawing me yeah does all that stuff you know stabs herself the cross exactly
0:10:18 Lydia: I hide under a blanket yeah yeah
0:10:21 Eli: She's in the corner, but then when you look, she runs real fast at you?
0:10:23 Lydia: Oh my god like you guys are freaking me out right now like I'm imagining this in my head I
0:10:26 Thomas: Yeah we're actually making Lydia too scared speaking of being quietly insane Lydia thinks movies are real life so it's um no and like again it's hard it's harder to blame her she has a new big giant brace and it's
0:10:29 Eli: You could totally take phoebe lydia believe
0:10:33 Lydia: Just accept it as reality it's
0:10:43 Thomas: Summer so it'S a million degrees so she keeps she'll complain but it's also so fucking weird. Like, I don't know how to deal with it when it's obviously crazy, but also kind of reasonable. Like she'll be totally chill. And then we'll say she has to put on her brace and she'll put on her brace and then she'll go, I'm hot. Like you'll just scream. I'm hot. And it's like, well, I get that it's warm, but there's no way you just put it on. You know, like literally I watched you put it in this walk-in freezer we're in just now now and there's no, you're not hot. Yeah.
0:10:44 Lydia: Fine yeah really hot
0:11:07 Eli: Yourself that we call our home sure
0:11:15 Thomas: It's like, yeah. And it's like I don't know what to do because you're like, okay, yeah, it's hot.
0:11:20 Lydia: You've even tried telling her like hey when other people get hot they usually just express wow I feel really hot right now get
0:11:25 Thomas: You start to try all kinds of things when you're faced with a terrorist. I was like, hey, Phoebe, if I'm hot, I'm just like, whew, I am hot. Like man sure it's hot and what yeah whew give it a good wheel you
0:11:35 Eli: Like that hadn't occurred to her like you know you could just have a you just be like oh scorcher today what if that had been the thing that worked how much would it fundamentally change your psyche if she had just been like oh I don't have to scream and and then had never overreacted to anything ever. I think it would have torn your marriage apart. I think you would have been at a divorce court shaking with tear -stained papers in your hands, and that's when I realized we just needed to explain there could have not been yelling.
0:11:53 Thomas: Know again yeah oh man are you kidding the amount of stress that would get out of our relationship if this very the phoebe stopped yeah yeah
0:12:07 Lydia: Creative I feel like we would write a book and then we would be rich and famous
0:12:15 Eli: Oh, yeah. Whenever anyone's like, you're gonna miss it, you're gotta miss it. I'm like, am I? Because I've taught teenagers. You know what I'm saying? I feel like I've seen the gamut of teenagers.
0:12:28 Thomas: And and so the thing oh sorry the thing I was coming to too, that I know you've experienced, Eli, was so she did the I'm hot thing. And then I've done a thing lately where I'm like, hey, why don't you go in my room? Because it's the room that I record in with all the equipment and I keep it, you know, a cool 33 degrees in here.
0:12:44 Eli: Negative four, yeah?
0:12:44 Thomas: And yeah, as I was like, oh, you can go in there. Don't stay too long. You'll get hypothermia.
0:12:49 Thomas: But if you go into my room and so that's been the thing like giving her an action to do, I think is helping, you know?
0:12:54 Eli: Yeah
0:12:49 Lydia: The studio also gives her a chance to be alone like get some space without us telling her like go take takes some alone time.
0:12:57 Thomas: Yeah, exactly. Because if you tell her, hey. Hey, do you need to be alone? She's like, I'm spider walking again. I'm crawling on the ceiling again.
0:13:05 Lydia: Yeah. It makes it worse
0:13:06 Thomas: And I'm screaming, I'M clawing you like that doesn't work. So I let her go in there first. And she, she was like ,I don't know how to turn on the ceilng fan. I was like well, yeah, it's cold down there anyway. Like I'll be there in a sec. I get in, she had moved a chair to turn on the celing fan and that had like, I think made her happy or something. So then I was like, are you good? Can you change? And she said, oh, I am still hot. And so I said, all right, well, if you're still hot, why don't you go get your school clothes and then you You can change in here, you know, where it's cold or whatever. And so I'm just sitting there for a minute or, you know, maybe two minutes. And I was like, what's going on? And then I go out my door and Lydia and Phoebe had left.
0:13:41 Lydia: Because she, she just, she just got her clothes and then came straight down the stairs and she was a joy and
0:13:42 Thomas: They've gone to school. As though nothing had happened.
0:13:49 Lydia: Literally nothing had happened at all. She was like, Oh, can you help me with my sandals? And I was like sure. And she's like, okay, one, two. So I had bought a neck fans recently when she was saying that she's been getting hot with her brace. I was Like, Oh maybe she can wear that at school and make more comfortable. And I had offered that when she was having her freak out and she screamed about that too, that it's not going to work. And then she was like, mom, do you think I could bring this neck fan to school? I could put it in my backpack and then use it. And that was like yeah, that sounds great.
0:13:49 Eli: They're just gone
0:13:54 Thomas: The music was like. Sure. Sure, kid. Yeah, just do that. Sounds like a great idea. Wow. Why didn't I think of that? And then it was like nothing had ever happened
0:14:22 Lydia: And then we just got in the car and drove over and yeah, she was perfectly pleasant.
0:14:26 Eli: Yeah the ongoing trauma that you have to let go of of your child's moods I actually don't know how to deal with it right like because I know what not to do right which is everything that was done before
0:14:39 Thomas: Look who decided to not be a piece of shit that's what you can't do that's What My Parents Would Have Done
0:14:43 Eli: Exactly yeah oh and every time they they did that you were like I'm never gonna do that when I'm a
0:14:48 Thomas: Oh are you not infested by demons anymore all of a sudden hey try to climb up the wall whoa you can t now well that's weird you lose your
0:14:50 Eli: Parent yeah did someone return that skull to the burial ground yeah I worry that I'm gonna be mad about it forever like Matt so Max's hitting is so much better the last
0:14:58 Thomas: Powers yeah oh
0:15:01 Lydia: Yeah, oh that's
0:15:06 Thomas: Good oh good I thought you were gonna say it was is worse but
0:15:10 Lydia: Good
0:15:10 Eli: Couple of weeks I mean it's no no it's so much bad it's night and day obviously he's still five he still has big emotions there's still you know good days and bad days. Right. But like, right. But the, the bad day
0:15:20 Thomas: He's down to second degree murder which is good which is an
0:15:24 Eli: Version is unlike anything like what we were seeing before, but I'm still there. Right? Like I'm not, right, I'm still ready. I'm still demon hunting. It's like, I imagine the Amity family, like occasionally things must have just fallen over and they must've been like, holy shit. And then, oh no, just wrong house. Right? Like, that's how I feel. Oh, he's going to be 18. He's going gonna be like, can I take the car out? And I'm gonna be like, no. And he's gonna be, like, what? And I'm going to be like yeah, you punched me in the face. Because you punched be in the face. And if you look at this big chart, flip flip flip flip flip, here you can see here's all the punches in the face. And every time I say no to you as an adult, I scratch it off and punch you in the face
0:15:29 Lydia: That's good yeah yeah
0:15:32 Thomas: Improvement oh you're the same character they haven't recast you oh yeah Yeah.
0:15:47 Lydia: Yeah yeah yeah
0:16:07 Eli: And you're only 700 punches away from trust. Yeah. We can't do that.
0:16:07 Thomas: A sandwich. Yeah.
0:16:14 Eli: Can't do that. Otherwise they write on forums about you.
0:16:17 Thomas: Yeah, I'm trying to embrace it like I'm trying to become as insane as she is maybe like because I because if she if or just match her Groundhog Day thing where I can and just be like, Oh, we're done being insane. Awesome. Great day. I'm trying, I'm like, just trying cause you're, it's insane. It isn't saying I'm to just be that goldfish or whatever, where I'm great. Good day now. Awesome, we are having fun. Cause I don't know how else to try to deal with it, Eli. That's all I got. I am just trying to just blank slate. Yeah, that's coping. Oh boy. Do you have, do people have normal kids?
0:16:22 Eli: Ooh match her energy yeah
0:16:34 Lydia: Yeah, the reset.
0:16:45 Eli: That sounds good hey it sounds good yeah
0:16:55 Lydia: Speaking
0:16:55 Thomas: Does anyone get to just have kids that are like, like, hi, father. I don't know. Or they play the stick and loop or stick in the hoop game. I don't. What did normal people do?
0:16:58 Eli: Good have a lovely lunch today stick and hoop yeah
0:17:05 Lydia: Of crazy kids, I do have an update because I had let well, yeah, I had let the Facebook group know that Remy is experiencing the same very early morning wake up that we had with Arlo for a phase and then Arlo got over it and he's perfectly fine.
0:17:07 Thomas: Oh, we have another one. It's the best kid of all time
0:17:19 Lydia: But Remy, Remy me is like five something every single morning. There was one morning he woke up at like 430 and he walks over to me and he's like, watch Mika. And I was like, absolutely not. You are going back to bed. And just like this back and forth of me trying to put him back to bed, then he'll scream and stuff. Now he's learned not to come to my room when he wakes up because he'll get put back to bed. He also knows he can't close his door or I'll hear it and then I'll go get him and I'll put him back to bed so he leaves his room leaves the door open quietly opens the big kids room and goes into their room and bothers them and tries to wake them up and then phoebe comes to get me and she's like remi's trying to wake us up please help is bad sleep
0:17:43 Thomas: Because he'll get put to bed. And, you know, what's great for our demon infested Phoebe is not getting enough sleep. That's also great. So it's like in one hand, you'd be like, great, serves them right. They're getting woken up, those fuckers. But that's worse for us, too. Like that also ends up being worse for us or not. But then the whole day for Phoebe will be impossible.
0:18:06 Eli: Sleep is yeah right it's just a it's just a two minute lead up to you being woken up
0:18:23 Thomas: You know, it's like it's it's a it's a catch 22. Eli, have you experienced the nonsense that is fucking Mika and fucking Blippi? I thought that was a prank. Like I was like, what? They're just doing
0:18:30 Eli: Right meek and blippy yeah absolutely Absolutely.
0:18:30 Lydia: Blippy yeah Yeah. I like Mika much better than I like Blippi.
0:18:39 Eli: Interesting. Take me there, girl.
0:18:40 Thomas: Both
0:18:41 Lydia: Blippi, I don't know what it is. It's his pattern of speech. Both of the actors, I'm going to be honest, both Blioppis, their pattern of speech, it's really hard for me to listen to it. It is almost like styrofoam rubbing against itself for me.
0:18:47 Thomas: Blippi. Yeah, yeah, yes. A hundred percent.
0:18:58 Lydia: Whereas Mika feels a little more realistic. Maybe this is is this sexism I don't know oh my god is this sexism you guys
0:18:58 Eli: Hey, grounded.
0:19:01 Thomas: It's really squeaky. Is that because you infantilize women I do infantilized women you need to see a man be a man but you can handle it when a woman is acting like a yeah sorry
0:19:13 Eli: Well, first of all, because I'm excited to dive into this. Do you guys know that Blippi made a video where he shat on his friend's face?
0:19:17 Lydia: Yes the second Blippi or the first Blippi there's two blippies
0:19:21 Thomas: What
0:19:25 Eli: Is there another Blippi? Is this a Gallagher situation?
0:19:25 Thomas: There's two blippy actors at
0:19:27 Lydia: So there's 2 actors because from what I understand I did a little deep dive on this when I was like let me figure out what happened here blippy has so many things he has to do so they hired a second blippi so they could like there are 2 mika's but the first mika left first Mika left yeah so So Mika was replaced and
0:19:32 Thomas: Least aren't there two mikas there's too many because as well oh
0:19:38 Eli: Gallaghar 2. They Gallaghr 2'd him.
0:19:45 Lydia: Blippi has been cloned. That's kind of the difference.
0:19:47 Eli: Okay well one of the blippies I didn't even realize they had been cloned and I I watch it with my eyes but first blippy used to make like shock videos on youtube before he made blippy including one where he shat on his friend and they were like hey man did you make a video where you shat in your friend before he was blipping he was like yeah sorry about it and everyone was like fine my kid likes you whatever 100 100 google it
0:19:58 Thomas: Way no way no way well that I don't think that makes it any worse I'm going through in my mind I'm like no it's still the same yeah I was kind of like yeah anywhere
0:20:07 Lydia: Oh, my God. That's crazy. That's great. That's amazing.
0:20:14 Eli: If anything it makes it better for me it means that he tried a bunch of different content and settled on kid stuff and was like, okay, cool. I can't tell if it's the ones my son watches or if this is all the content. He just goes to like indoor playgrounds all over the country. Yeah.
0:20:28 Thomas: Yeah he just goes to things and points at them and is like oh this is a squeaky voice no it's not of course it's what do you mean you're convinced
0:20:36 Lydia: I'm convinced it's not scripted either because like, like, it's just, well, I don't know.
0:20:41 Thomas: You think they scripted that
0:20:41 Lydia: I've, I felt very, okay. So here's the thing. I felt Very Strongly about it. And then at a certain episode, I was like, well. I don' t know. Like like there were elements of it where like they're interacting with other people yeah but it's it's just oh yeah
0:20:49 Thomas: Yeah they might plan some of it yeah they plan parts of it it's very larry davidian in that way it's that yeah yeah I saw that blippy crap when it was like a couple times I was like oh that's some low effort crap that I'm not gonna have the kids watch because that's dumb and they and furthermore my brain was like there's no way they would like
0:20:57 Lydia: Yeah exactly larry
0:21:00 Eli: Too many free samples. He just starts yelling at a kid for the free samples of the ice cream.
0:21:16 Lydia: Davidian yeah
0:21:16 Thomas: That anyway because like there's nothing's happening but then now remy at least is obsessed and the big kids kind of like it too and so I'm mystified by like what is the process what are kids brains if you wear a weird hat that's colors and some glasses that are colors that are too big then you could just do and say anything and they're like this is fucking amazing this is the greatest thing I've ever
0:21:22 Lydia: Yeah they think it's funny oh interesting
0:21:39 Eli: So Max has discovered his first acceptable Let's Players. Players and I think that blippy is a let's player for children who can't play video games yet
0:21:47 Thomas: Seen because it's like they're going to the playgrounds and doing Doing the things they want to do. Yeah. Boy, that's a good point.
0:21:52 Eli: Right they just go to the playgrounds and do the things they want to do and have a lot of fun doing them and they comment on them and especially for a kid who has like socialization problems like max does right because max desperately wants to play with other kids and he just doesn't get it yet yeah it's truly he's like blippy fox look at this dude he shows up everywhere
0:22:06 Thomas: Max is like blippy fucks. I just, I respect that.
0:22:12 Eli: And he goes to the playground and he says what he's doing and then he fucking does it yes exactly he fucking gets it but yeah no he's recently discovered there's a family that play mario together they play the 3d
0:22:15 Thomas: Women want him, men want to be him.
0:22:24 Eli: Marios together and he watches them constantly and they're very sweet like they're laughing and they're talking it's obviously family oriented programming it's on kids youtube and he adores it so he was watching mario deluxe right then play maria deluxe and he was like can we get that game And I was like, man, we can get it right fucking now. Look at this. And he was so excited, but he was like also do it. Cause I've watched that video approximately 84 million times.
0:22:50 Eli: He was doing the commentary that they do.
0:22:55 Thomas: That's awesome. Oh, that is. That's so awesome.
0:22:56 Eli: Cause that's what you do when you play that game. It's phenomenal. But yeah, I think that's What I think it is. I think Blippi is just a let's player for parks and indoor playgrounds. Now I'll tell you a fun thing as someone who live tours their podcast and occasionally makes the mistake of bringing their young child whenever they go to such and such place in las vegas nevada why are they always in las vegas navada that's my question but
0:23:19 Thomas: LA or Florida sometimes, I feel like.
0:23:21 Eli: They're always in las vega nevadas at least as far as I can fucking see it so when they do that he'll be like can we go there someday and then I go and check and I'm like oh yeah we might have a live this show there someday so I have a list of playgrounds that blippy has been to and the cities that they're in
0:23:37 Thomas: Super depressing weird places in reality probably
0:23:40 Lydia: The kids have started asking me to go to certain places that Blippi and Mika go to as well. They're like the play lab in Orlando, Florida. I'm like, sure, we will do a family trip to Orlando, Florida to go to this one place. I don't say that, but yeah.
0:23:47 Thomas: Yeah oh my god there is nothing we're gonna do less than that that's the there's we might go to mars before we do that yeah it's amazing remy says the same phrase over and over too he says like what is he oh I can't remember well no but he'll be like we should go to that like I want to go yeah I can'T remember but he has his weird remy's talk to say the same thing essentially what you're saying max says where it's like he He wants to go there and the color factory and the whatever.
0:24:03 Lydia: Watch Mika. Oh, yeah.
0:24:16 Thomas: And the other thing that I love about it is the kids think if this is on TV, it must be a thing we all know. Where Arlo will be like, hey, dad, have you been to the color factory in Glendale or whatever the fuck? And I'll be like I don't know what you're fucking talking about. I have no idea what this is.
0:24:32 Eli: They finally went to one in New Jersey. They went to the play school in the fucking Westbrook Mall here in New jersey, which is just a big ad for all of play school's toys, which can I say not an a squad lineup. So it first of all, it was eighty nine thousand dollars a person. When the woman said the price, she also fisted my fucking asshole is what she did. She was like, and you're my puppet. It. And I was like, yeah, sure.
0:24:57 Thomas: You can be the new Blippi, I guess.
0:24:57 Eli: We go in and I got to watch. Cause my son, he's a pretty positive person. Like he's pretty cool dude. Like of all the ways that I have messed up, he feels safe. And so he, he loves the world and that's really wonderful to see. And, I think it was the first time I saw him go into a place for kids and be like, this fucking sucks. Right.
0:25:17 Eli: Cause they're supposed to be a big foam ball pit where they had like foam cubes instead of balls, but it was just like a corner but the way they had exactly it was like 10 cubes the way they had shot it made it look bigger and so he was like is this it and I was like yeah that's all of it I saw him be like oh if I had the language for this fucking sucks how do you say this fucking sucks and little kid
0:25:18 Thomas: It's like one cube yeah oh I know there's nothing sadder than like you as an adult know this is a very low effort low budget worked by like a high school kid who doesn't give a shit about it in reality but like they can't really tell they just see a couple colorful things and they're like this is magical land and you're like I can't treat this like it's
0:25:57 Eli: No because that happens all the time is that he's like we're in a magical land and I'm like we'RE in an old gymnasium where a guy fell on a barbell and died and the lawsuit is ongoing so So they're temporarily leasing the space.
0:26:03 Thomas: Real yeah
0:26:04 Lydia: Hey,
0:26:11 Thomas: Yeah, oh boy. So have you been to the Color Factory in Glen... No, I'm just kidding.
0:26:22 Ad: [Ad break 2 — ad music]
0:26:23 Lydia: Last weekend, Father's Day.
0:26:26 Eli: Father's Day!
0:26:27 Lydia: Yeah, well, I know what Thomas did. You tell me what you did, it Eli and then then we can get into Thomas's really exciting Father's Day yes
0:26:32 Eli: So as our listeners know, I was a poopy pants husband this Mother's Day and I went to a board game convention with my friends, with my fellow nerd dads. I abandoned my wife and my son on Father's
0:26:38 Lydia: You weren't the only one who was a poopy pants husband yeah
0:26:45 Thomas: Abandon my boy.
0:26:45 Eli: Day, on Mother's day. I abandoned my boy. So when Father'sday came around and there was a fiddle workshop, I was like, fuck yeah, take it. Good. It, because also it means we're square, right?
0:26:56 Thomas: Yeah, exactly.
0:26:56 Eli: Like not not only do I want my wife to experience joy days are just days and I don't give a but also it mean that the part of my brain that's like you couldn't have even given her father's day you pieces like that part of my brain has to be quiet if we're exactly
0:27:08 Thomas: There's a ghost version of her, like Aragorn gets that ghost army, and then he's like, you're released. And then she like the ghost, her leaf takes her fiddle and goes.
0:27:12 Eli: Yes you're really so sunday pretty normal right drop Max off at the babysitter I bought myself a special bur I was like I should do something for me because there's a fun thing about having depression for those of you who have normal brains depression is just someone in your ear saying the meanest shit all the time right just the worst most horrible shit if anyone said it to me in real life I'd be like I guess we fight like this is crazy but it's also unpleasable so in my head I was like okay I'm letting anna do her thing so the you're a piece of shit ghost will go away but then the piece of Shit Ghost was like like you don't get anything special on your day so I was like fine I'll buy myself a burger so I went and got
0:27:39 Thomas: And you do fight you. Yeah, yeah.
0:27:55 Eli: Myself a very nice vegan burger for dinner had a lovely little time but me and anna celebrated father's day on monday uh and I requested what I love the most which is I just wanted a day with her so we dropped the boy off at school we went and Got breakfast at our favorite place and then we came home and we watched the devil's plan together have you guys watched the Devil's Plan this show fucking rules it stars phoebe and she's right behind lydia and lydia turns around but when she stands up from the mirror lydia's behind phoebes behind her in the mirror no so it's a korean game show if you're not I promise I will not talk too much about korean game shows because I could truly fill all the podcast time we have together just talking about about
0:28:20 Thomas: What's that? Is this one where Phoebe is going to be crawling up and down the? Yeah.
0:28:21 Lydia: No, absolutely not. Oh.
0:28:43 Thomas: Oh, is this like all the things you used to send me where I was like, Eli, stop sending me something where a kid falls into. I feel like it's going to be all those.
0:28:46 Eli: Them no no no that's that's no I would just send people getting severe head trauma if not death
0:28:56 Thomas: That's not these Korean game shows. Okay.
0:28:56 Eli: Until thomas was like and stop no this is no so korean game shows are largely long -term strategy games I mean they have dating shows and stuff like that as well but the culture is very different it's a lot closer to like mastermind or taskmaster it's a lot more like task mastery where they have these tasks it's a whole subculture basically like reality shows are for smart people in korea or at the very least in korean there is a genre of smart people and the genre is always the devil's blank so the devil plan is pretty simple they just get smart people smart people reality show celebrities chess masters there's a go master master. There's a lady who's a lawyer and also went to MIT for engineering. They're all fucking nerds.
0:29:43 Eli: There is a science communicator, right? Like there's all these smart people and they have them play games and they're like, Hey, just so you know, you can't hurt anybody. You can't commit any crimes, but that is the only rule for these games. And they're trying to win this currency. If they run out of currency, they get kicked off the show. But it's basically what What it is, is it's 11 heaths, all heathing a board game at each other. The reality show. And it fucking rules because literally everyone there is smart. And whenever you're watching the show, you'll be watching the show and you'll see a typical reality TV moment, right? Where it's like, Brett is really upset at Ashley because she stole his totem of the gun. But it turns out that Ashley's a nuclear physicist who was only faking crying to distract Brett so that Hikaru could climb the wall and disguise himself as a window to use his special power which he gets if anyone looks through him like a window.
0:30:06 Thomas: Oh, I want to do that. Wow. I might need to watch this.
0:30:38 Eli: It's every single inch of it. It's great. And also, they're all smart enough to know, like, it's a fucking game. It's fine. Like, there are several moments throughout the show where someone's like, hey, I'm really sorry. Are you okay? And they're like, yeah, no, it was great. You fucking pretended to be a window and I looked through you and you used your laser power.
0:30:56 Lydia: That is like such a difference between american reality shows and any other country any other countries like yeah
0:31:00 Thomas: And I can't, that's why I can't watch them. Like, I might be into this, because I can't watch the reality shows where I know they' re trying to do a reality show all the time. No, we did watch, we wanted to make you watch that. It was great. That one was good. It's only a good one. Maybe, yeah.
0:31:08 Eli: Except for what's that show we want to make Thomas watch? Couple the Thruple?
0:31:11 Lydia: Oh well he watched all that we want aren't we gonna make tom watch watch that? Yeah. Yeah. Yes.
0:31:14 Eli: God, I love Couple the Thruble. I loved it so much. Yeah. Alone. He has to do an episode by himself where he just monologues about Couple thethruple. That's his vacation post next time. Okay. So this looks bad. Couple thethrouple. If you haven't watched that, Hey, if you're bored of hearing about Korean reality TV and you need something great, Couple the thruple is what Tom thinks polyamory is the television show it's just a bunch of people who got to I I'm not convinced that it isn't just tom made a reality show and was like well I guess if we just look around oh would you look at that a television program that proves 100 of my points about
0:31:20 Lydia: By himself. Yeah, yeah. Yeah... yeah...
0:31:37 Thomas: Yeah. Yeah. Yes. Precisely. Who aren't really polyamorous, except for like one of the couples.
0:31:56 Eli: Polyamory so yeah we had a lovely day together we watched some reality tv uh she got me a couple more t -shirts with muffin on them which I love from bluey and yeah it's just you know it was my idea of an absolutely fantastic time what about you smiths what did y'all
0:31:57 Thomas: Yeah. Oh, so bad. That's great.
0:32:12 Lydia: Father's Day this year for me as a non-father was actually really special because my parents just recently moved. So now they're only 15 minutes away from us instead of two and a half hours away. So we decided we were going to do a barbecue at their new house and took the kids over there, gave Thomas some alone time while I took all the kids.
0:32:22 Thomas: Yeah, it's pretty great. Yeah. It was supposed to... Well, okay. Lydia has a way of telling stories.
0:32:36 Lydia: We'll get there, but you can tell your...
0:32:39 Lydia: Hey, let me finish my story. All right. No, it's fine. It's all right.
0:32:39 Eli: Do she has
0:32:39 Thomas: So, yeah. No, you already did... Okay, sure. That is fine. That Is fine. Yeah...
0:32:42 Eli: Not seeded her time senator
0:32:45 Thomas: No that's fine go ahead she
0:32:46 Lydia: But yeah, we had a lot of fun. Just like swam in the pool a lot and like goofed off and barbecued and hung out. And yeah, it was just really nice. So I love my family and I love spending time with them. So I, my parents and my sister, I
0:32:56 Thomas: Means her um she doesn't mean us she means our parents and our sisters just she's trying to clarify for everybody but no she was talking about
0:33:01 Lydia: Love you guys, too. I love you guys too. But yeah, no, I had a wonderful Father's Day. Thank you for asking.
0:33:09 Eli: Yeah excellent all right so thomas what's your side of the story where you stayed home like a gremlin while the rest of your family went to a barbecue
0:33:13 Thomas: That no it's not it's nothing it's something bad except I I just was like you know I was a poopy pants boy for mother's day but I did tell lydia I was like here I booked you a massage and go get out of the house and be away from the kids and truth be told I was kind of needing that And Lydia was like, here's what I got for you. Let's go be around not only your kids, but my family all day. And it wasn't bad, but it was just like, yeah, I know. It wasn't anything that I was upset about, but I was like not feeling great about it. And then I don't know if it was because Phoebe gave me something that triggered my depression or what, but Phoebe gave me a one of those all about dad things that they do at school where she had to write just things about me or whatever. I think your thing is different. I don't know if our things are different, but there was something that I found really touching. I was very affected by it, but I also think I'm just so exhausted that that so So then I started crying and then my brain broke for the day and
0:33:53 Lydia: Yeah all about dad mm -hmm yeah
0:34:18 Thomas: I was like, oh, man, this sucks. And I don't know if it was because the thing was nice. It was a nice thing.
0:34:18 Lydia: No
0:34:23 Eli: Was gonna say how hard did she roast you sure
0:34:26 Thomas: It was really nice. She said it was just one of those things, you know, and I feel like you relate to this where just certain things just kind of catch me. Maybe it's different for you, because for me, it's I just have certain triggers around, like realizing the difference between how I grew up and how Phoebe's growing up, you knows, or any of the kids and little things like there will just get me. And then I just like somehow my brain broke that day.
0:34:40 Lydia: Lovely mm
0:34:47 Thomas: And I don't, again, I don't know if it was just because of like having that crying reaction. I don't know if it was something else. But then, and again, I was actually excited to go to her parents' house and do the pool and the barbecue and stuff. But after that happened, I was like, I just, I need to be alone for a sec. And also I'm, I'm really, really overwhelmed and stressed about everything. And I just wanted to fucking clean this disgusting house.
0:35:08 Thomas: I just want to clean the house. So my father's day was great. It was mostly, I got to be by myself and clean the house.
0:35:15 Eli: Wander the house crying and cleaning the house. Yeah.
0:35:15 Lydia: -him shampoo the carpet
0:35:16 Thomas: Yeah I shampooed the disgusting carpet it's everything because we have someone who cleans the house and is great but she can only keep up with the day-to-day stuff that I was kind of doing before that I can't believe I was doing because basically she could work a full -time job and not finish and I was the same stuff and I'm like how was I fucking doing all this I wasn't doing as much she also does the laundry which is great and she makes some dinner yeah she makes dinner or some nights. And so that's awesome. Yeah.
0:35:34 Lydia: Yeah and she
0:35:40 Eli: You made a disgusting breakfast. I think about that all the time. And whenever, if there's ever a meal, not perfect in our house, I want you to know, I don't know how I feel about the term vocal stim, which has kind of gone viral online. But if you want to know one of the vocal stims in the Bosnick household, you made a disgusting breakfast is 1000 % one of them.
0:35:51 Thomas: But importantly
0:35:59 Lydia: Makes oh I'm so glad
0:36:00 Thomas: Though, what there isn't, there wasn't malice behind it. That's what you got to capture the like, yeah, but you made a disgusting breakfast. Like it's matter of fact, you know, it was like, mom, but here's the thing though. Like, here's the thing we all know right now in this situation, you made it disgusting. She's was almost like stating the background exposition of the movie she was like yeah you made a disgusting breakfast like
0:36:12 Eli: Here's what you need to understand. Let's clarify
0:36:20 Thomas: Hey you're my mother as your daughter
0:36:20 Eli: What happened here. Step one, you made a horrifying breakfast yeah
0:36:23 Lydia: Yeah hours
0:36:23 Thomas: Yeah um and so yeah it was great I got to stay home I got to non-stop worked on cleaning projects and organizing crap for I don't know seven hours six hours never stopping and was like cool I'm 0.3 percent done with what I would like to get done in this fucking hellhole. And that's, I was like, can I, how many more father's days can I have so I can just do this all day?
0:36:47 Lydia: Yeah but then you came over to my parents house and then you played pool. Yeah. Yeah.
0:36:47 Eli: It sounds
0:36:50 Thomas: I finally came over. It was really fun. Yeah, it was nice. Good times. I did want to come earlier, but it was, so yeah, it wasn't, it wasn't anything bad or anything, but it was like I need, I just would love to be by myself for a minute. It's just, yeah, yeah.
0:37:01 Lydia: And all you had to say was that. And I said, done. And I took the kids and I left with them. Yes. Yeah.
0:37:05 Eli: Great father's day hell yeah that's good yeah look you gotta do look we're in the trenches now right this is something that Anna and I talk about quite a bit which is that like sometimes it's just bad and you just gotta fucking wait it out you just got to wait
0:37:21 Thomas: Not all our kids can be Arlo.
0:37:24 Eli: It up yeah exactly and just not make a big bad choice right because here's the problem. Something like 50 % of people, they go through this time and they just do a stupid thing. They try a little bit of meth. They start drinking before and after dinner. They fuck their secretary. They fuck Their boss. And all you have to do to have a life that you consider happy as you are dying is not fuck up during the hardest part of your life. During this segment, you just don't fuck up. And then when they're teaming everything else, you're like, oh that was kind of hard but I don't really remember it and then you're good you're all good
0:37:24 Thomas: That's the thing. Huh interesting
0:38:04 Ad: [Ad break 3 — ad music]
0:38:05 Thomas: This morning I had this thought of like well how much more of Phoebe climbing backwards up the stairs and vomiting and her head spinning around 360 how much more of this do we do until we are like I guess don't wear your brace but then I had that thought and I was like but we just can't we can't and I had that thought of I bet that some parents would do
0:38:20 Eli: Arthur miller oh yep
0:38:25 Lydia: We can't. We can't give in. Yeah. And
0:38:30 Thomas: This and then she would have really rough scoliosis that would be essentially a deformity like I have for her whole life and I know how much I hate
0:38:37 Lydia: She'd probably have to get surgery. Yeah.
0:38:39 Thomas: That and I'm not going to do it like just for the instant relief of the stress of the situation you can't make something that's going to be a long-term bad decision you just can't like it just you just have to stick to it it fucking sucks yeah oh yeah hard now or hard forever and it's unalterable you can't fix it once it's done with scoliosis like I know some things aren't like that but that is like you can't the surgery is if it's so bad that you wanted to get it to be like manageable that doesn't fix anything so it's like once it's grown in it's done and I'm like I have to I know especially since she's a girl like I know how it feels to me as a dude but as a girl like I bet it's gonna be like with all the body image issues that comes with and all the you know
0:38:51 Eli: Hard now or hard later
0:38:56 Lydia: And worse. Yeah. Yeah.
0:39:23 Thomas: Scrutiny on bodies and all the feelings that girls are gonna have about how much they're yeah and And it's just like, I know that she's going to fucking hate this if she doesn't do it. And so it's like, I guess we just have to be the Amityville, whatever Eli said.
0:39:26 Lydia: She doesn't need more to make it even harder. Yeah.
0:39:36 Eli: Yeah you're just the Amityville horror
0:39:36 Thomas: We're just the, just a demon lives in our house.
0:39:39 Lydia: I think also because she's actually like responding well to the brace, like her body itself. Right. Her scoliosis is responding well to the brace. Not every kid is like that. So there are some kids that maybe. OK. That being said, yeah,
0:39:49 Thomas: Well, I think the kid's parents don't actually make them wear it. I swear to God, that's what it is.
0:39:53 Eli: People it's like sudden infant death syndrome
0:39:55 Thomas: I honestly, that's what I said when we first had this thing and I was making her wear it 22 hours a day. And the doctor was like, I've never seen such progress. This is amazing. This is the best thing. It's like I think everyone's lying about it. They can't be in their houses because it's not easy. We're not heroes. We're not the greatest people of all time, but we're better parents than most people. At least, we'll say 50% of people.
0:40:14 Lydia: We're trying. Dying.
0:40:15 Thomas: Like, imagine how many parents there are. Imagine how many parents there aren't that are like, yeah, oh, she wears the, we have her wear it, you know, like on Tuesdays. It's like, it's hard to have a psychopath who's a
0:40:16 Eli: Way more than 50 yeah exactly we wear it for the hour before we go to the doctor's office
0:40:30 Thomas: Demon like
0:40:30 Lydia: That was me with my braces.
0:40:32 Thomas: Brushing your teeth before the dentist.
0:40:33 Lydia: Like I would never wear the rubber bands on my braces the entire time. And so then I just like loaded up four at a time in the parking lot before I went into the dentist's office, hoping it was going to make a difference. What, what toothbrush?
0:40:33 Thomas: Yeah. Yeah. That'll do it that'll make it work yeah it's probably worse what yeah
0:40:44 Eli: Do you know about the GPS toothbrushes so they did a study a few years ago this is probably like 10 years ago now where they were like, hey, I don't think people are brushing their fucking teeth, but when we ask people if they brush their teeth, they're fucking lying so they gave them toothbrushes that have motion sensors in them, and they were, like, okay when brushed teeth is normal, we want you to use this new brush as a kind of bristle do not use any other toothbrush, they came in they removed the other toothbrushes from everyone's houses then they checked, and of course nobody brushes their fucking tooth, nobody
0:40:56 Lydia: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, wow.
0:40:56 Thomas: Four times a day really well that's shocking to me
0:41:15 Eli: Brushes their fucking teeth, nobody brushes their teeth. And so they brought them in. They were like, hey, your toothbrush didn't move. We think you don't brush your teeth. And do you know what every single fucking person said? I bought another toothbrush. And they literally had to go to people's houses with full -grown adults who have agreed to be part of a study. Right? This is an adult. A drove there. Drove back. And been like, great, where's the other toothbrush? And the person had to be like, um, it's gone.
0:41:27 Thomas: Oh okay yeah it was like what I always wanted to do when Andrew lied I wanted to like oh show me where the thing that you just made up is I wish I could have had that power to do that what oh really you didn't know San Francisco is close to Sacramento? Really? Take me through that thought process of yours.
0:41:29 Lydia: Yeah. Yeah Oh no. Oh no Yeah. Yeah Yeah
0:42:00 Thomas: Why don't we all get the opportunity to do that? Speaking of dentists, that shocks me though, because I'm the kind of person who, if you did that to me, you would find that I brush my teeth every single night without fail, but I only do it once. And every time at the dentist, I just went to the dentist and they're like, hey, really would be good if you got that brushing up to twice a day. And I say, no, I do once a day, I will never miss a day the rest is on you. You're the dentist.
0:42:20 Lydia: The rest is on you
0:42:24 Thomas: That's your job to keep my teeth. Yeah. But here's the thing. There's a tax. This is the tax that I pay as the person who actually brushes their teeth and flosses every single night. Never miss a night. Lydia, hand to God, she knows. Never miss a night because it's a thing I need to do. And I have to build things into routines. Otherwise I'll forget to do everything because of ADHD. So I literally have to bill my whole life into routines and then I don't, I also just hate shortcuts. I hate anyone taking any shortcut about anything and especially me. And so if it's a thing like that, where it's like, well, but that's a shortcut where if you don't do it, you're just lying to yourself and you should have done it, then I will just do it. And so I figure the people who say they're brushing twice, how often are they brushing you? Based on this data, zero times apparently, but maybe half a time a day on average. And I'm like, so if the person, well
0:43:09 Eli: Never nobody's brushing their teeth they can't do a study on the consistent benefits of brushing and flossing their teeth because not enough percentage of people brush and floss their no because they're going to need you to do it twice a day they're gonna say all right hey thomas and they're and they'll say no we need it twice today we recommend twice today thomas you're the person ruining the study lydia
0:43:20 Thomas: I'd be your experimentee right here. Every single time. Nope. I'll do it once a day. Hey, they need all kinds. They need all kinds, Eli.
0:43:29 Lydia: Yes, a control group yeah
0:43:30 Thomas: Nope, I know how science works. They need all kinds. You need a twice a day person, once-a-day person, a three times a day, person, you need an OCD person who does it like 14 times a day to also be in the study to see if it has any benefits. Yeah. Oh, if only. You know, there's different kinds of OCD. We'll cut it. It's fine.
0:43:48 Lydia: Okay oh my
0:43:52 Clip: DEAR OLD DADS
0:43:58 Eli: All right smiths one more thing before you go a cheese factory in France exploded this morning there was debris everywhere

0:44:09 Thomas: Good times
0:44:54 Eli: What's he supposed to do go to the doctor on any of the other hours on any other day
0:45:01 Thomas: Oh look who decided to not be a piece of shit I'm hot I'm high hey try to climb up the wall whoa you can't now well that's weird you lose your powers
0:45:04 Lydia: Watch mika
