Opening Arguments
We need a sensible compromise between "no kings" and "Trump is king"
Today on Vapid Response Wednesday: Thomas, Lydia, and Matt review some of the worst takes to last weekend's 2700+ "No Kings" events around the U.S. But first, we savor an instant classic of an amuse douche: a recent video of a real-life encounter between a drunk-driving ICE officer and actual law enforcement. We then learn why the National Review is definitely not mad about the No Kings events going so well, and why House Majority Leader Steve Scalise IS mad about the raving socialists of the radical left who have shut down a government full of social programs which Republicans would otherwise absolutely want to fully fund if only they could.

0:00:10 Thomas: And welcome to opening arguments the show that makes sense of law in the news I'm Thomas. That over there is real-life immigration attorney Matt Cameron. How you doing, Matt? Yeah.
0:00:18 Matt: Be an oversell. I don't know if we can make sense of the law in the news, but we'll talk about it and maybe I can explain it and
0:00:21 Thomas: No. That's true. We met. Yeah. We translate we are, we archaeologically tell you what the law used to me, and of course producer Lydia Smith, how, how you doing, Lydia?
0:00:30 Matt: Talk about the news also. Also, well,
0:00:29 Lydia: Yes. Yeah. It's a historical show. Yeah. Pretty good. Really, really excited to dig into the stuff that we have today. It's going to be great. Yeah.
0:00:41 Thomas: Yeah. Well, why don't you give us a little preview? What do we have? Or Matt, somebody give us a preview.
0:00:45 Lydia: Matt's going do it.
0:00:47 Matt: We've got a classic Amuse douche, just one of our favorite features. We get to watch a fun thing and make fun of it. And this one's got a combination of a bunch of stuff we love to talk about. So I don't want to spoil it, but this is a great video.
0:00:50 Lydia: Yes. So good. So good.
0:00:58 Thomas: This is one that's so perfect amuse-douche that the French are like, you are allowed to call it that. It's not the like, oh, you got to call het sparkling douchebaggery or whatever. Yeah.
0:01:07 Lydia: Sparkling douche. Yeah. Yeah.
0:01:09 Thomas: Like sparkling asshole or something. It is like, no, this is from the region. This actually authentic amuse douche.
0:01:15 Lydia: Yeah.
0:01:09 Matt: I mean, California makes a perfectly good one, but you know, you're right. You're right, you know what I'm saying?
0:01:18 Thomas: Yeah, yeah. But they don't want to to let us call it that. But this one, no. I got off the phone with the government. They're like, yes. They said, we.
0:01:25 Lydia: This one counts. This one's good. Yeah, yeah.
0:01:26 Thomas: Yeah, it's perfect. It's a platonic version, ideal of an amuse-douche. Can't wait. What else are we talking about?
0:01:33 Lydia: It's
0:01:27 Matt: Yeah, that's right. And then we've got some really chill, cool takes on the No Kings protests, which I did attend myself. I don't know if you guys got to check out your locals, but no, sure. Of course. Of course.
0:01:41 Lydia: Really hard with young kids, but yes, we We cheered on from afar.
0:01:45 Thomas: We're so busy working and parenting that we're always like, oh yeah, massive protests. Oh, that's awesome. That was now? That was now? We should have done that. Damn it. Good job, everybody. Well done, everyone.
0:01:54 Matt: Well, good
0:01:53 Lydia: Yeah. My parents did go, though, in their new neighborhood, yeah, which is a little more red than they're used to because they're from the Bay Area. So, but they had a great time.
0:01:56 Thomas: Oh yeah. Yeah.
0:01:57 Matt: For them. Good for them? Well, we're doing our own right here.
0:02:03 Thomas: And I just can't wait to find out how many kings we have. Is it, is it, there's our, there's disagreement. The New York Times would report, you know, decides descending views on how many Kings we have? Some say zero, some say one. Who's to know?
0:02:05 Lydia: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No
0:02:06 Matt: Yes.
0:02:18 Matt: Well round up or down? We'll find out. And yeah, so we've got takes from the National Review, one of our favorite places to return to. And of course, from Majority Leader Steve Scully. So I hadn't heard from in a a while, but he's got quite a lot to say about whose fault everything is right now. And you'll probably believe it, whose fault Everything Is.
0:02:18 Lydia: Way to know. Yeah.
0:02:19 Thomas: Yeah.
0:02:28 Lydia: Yeah.
0:02:34 Thomas: This is not what we're talking about, but just, I'm so sorry on the, on the topic of the New York times. Here's what flashed on my phone just hours ago. You ready for this? This, this New York, this is not the the New York Times pitch bot. This is real. Ready? Breaking news. President Trump is said to be demanding $230 million from the Justice Department for investigating him, comma, posing potential ethical conflicts. What the fuck are you doing?
0:02:54 Lydia: Yep. Yep. Yep. Opposing potential ethical conflicts. Yeah. As
0:03:05 Thomas: You might as well say Trump is demanding blackmail for the kid he kidnapped. It poses ethical conflicts?
0:03:05 Lydia: You say, Thomas, you've said this before. You're like, who is this for? Who is this for?
0:03:15 Matt: We
0:03:13 Thomas: What is that? That's one of the the worst. That's one of the worst I've seen.
0:03:17 Lydia: Yeah, that's really bad.
0:03:18 Thomas: Posing potential. Did I dream that? It said potential, right? I got to look again. Possing potential ethical conflicts.
0:03:23 Matt: Have to see both sides of this one.
0:03:27 Thomas: What is the potential?
0:03:26 Lydia: Yeah, yeah.
0:03:27 Matt: I hope they found an expert
0:03:28 Thomas: Hold on. What's the version that doesn't have it? If it's potential ethical conflict, what's the vision of that story that's like, well, there might be none. There might be fine. What is that?
0:03:28 Matt: On both sides.
0:03:39 Thomas: New York Times, somebody tell me. God, that's not what we're talking about today, day, but I just, that flashed on my phone just an hour ago and I saved, I took a picture screenshot of it because I'm like, what are we fucking doing?
0:03:37 Matt: Could we? Okay. The president's demanding money because he got prosecuted. Yeah.
0:03:43 Lydia: It's crazy. Yeah Yeah.
0:03:51 Thomas: So speaking of how many kings we have and disagreeing on it, the New York Times, they're not willing to say. They're not sure how many kings we got.
0:03:52 Matt: Well, if you want my expert opinion, we will probably talk about it on Friday, on Rapid Response Friday. So going to have to mention that.
0:04:01 Lydia: Yeah.
0:04:02 Thomas: I know, opening arguments podcast, of course. All
0:04:05 Matt: Sounds

Milo Meadsong is fighting petty tyrants. Malaika Chandler. A string of unpronounceable characters. 0:04:11 Lydia: Yay. Yes, Mitchell. Oh, my God.
0:04:58 Thomas: Someone said that was a Garth Brooks song. American Honkytonk Bar Association. Yeah, weird.
0:05:00 Lydia: Yeah, yeah. I don't know Garth Brooks. So that's news to me. I also don't who that is.
0:05:06 Thomas: I'm more of a Chris Gaines fan myself. That joke's for... Did I get the name right? Somebody tell me if I got that joke right. Yeah. That is a... Fuck.
0:05:13 Matt: Like one. I remember. That's right. Yeah. That was
0:05:18 Thomas: That's for for no one.
0:05:18 Matt: A moment. That Was a Moment.
0:05:20 Thomas: That joke's for no one, but I pulled it out of my brain, right? Just apropos of nothing. Philly basement bar is a busy organizing Bob Loblaw's Law.... Podcast and the Cincinnati kid. Thanks top patrons. We're glad we're doing these shout. These shout outs are so much fun. Make sure you change, you know, sign on patreon.com/law and change your shout out name if you'd like, or be, you know, a classic all time, you know, perennial one as well. Either, either approach is fine by us, but a lot of people were happy. The shout outs are returning and so are we. So So we'll take our first break and we'll get on to our moose douche. Can't wait. One
0:05:23 Matt: I appreciated it. All
0:05:57 Thomas: So here we go. I'm excited. How do you want to introduce this? All
0:06:02 Matt: Right. Well, we don't need too much introduction, but I'll let you know that you're about to watch a 42-year-old Scott Thomas Deseroth of Miami being arrested. And I don't know if I want to spoil anything else from there.
0:06:13 Thomas: Right. Well, I've got the clip up. So here you go. Here we go, wow.
0:06:16 Lydia: I Let's do it.
0:06:19 Clip: I'm trying to get home. I got my boys with me. Who do you work for? Do you have your ID with you? I called them. They verified that you're a department. 100% bro. You don't have any type of credentials or anything to say you're DHS? No.
0:06:34 Lydia: Bro.
0:06:39 Clip: Okay. I only bring my weapon with me to work. Okay. But you don't know who you are? You don' have any weapons on you right now? No, I don't. Okay. So what I want to do, I want you to talk to you away from the kids. So I'm going to ask you to step out of the car and we're going to walk back to the back of your car, okay? Are you fucking serious right now, you know what? Call my supervisor. Okay. Okay. Do you want to do the exercises or no? I'll do it. But you know what? What's homeboy doing down there? You know what, guys? Come on. Make sure we all sit because we're the son of the world. We don't want to get hit. We don'T want you to get hurt. That's why we're trying to do this exercise. That way we can move on. Are you Haitian?
0:06:43 Thomas: Well, that's not what he's talking about.
0:07:11 Clip: That's nothing to do with my wrist, buddy. My question was, are you Haitians? It doesn't matter. It doesn' t matter where he's from.
0:07:11 Thomas: Oh, my God. Oh, My God. Wow. Wow.
0:07:19 Lydia: It does.
0:07:20 Clip: Look, man, I really need you to do exercise. If you don't, if you're a cop, whatever. Yeah, I'm a fucking law enforcement. Okay, dude, then stop talking and sit in the back of the car. And stop. Stop this.
0:07:20 Lydia: Yeah.
0:07:21 Thomas: Oh ,My God. That is
0:07:32 Lydia: Yeah so these are excerpts from 30 minutes that I'm going I'm going to link it in the show notes. It is so good. The whole thing is just brilliant and those are just like little points there. He mentioned his kids are in the car. He has a seven and a nine nine -year -old boy in the cars.
0:07:32 Thomas: Wow. 30 minutes? Jeez.
0:07:35 Matt: Yeah,
0:07:51 Thomas: I mean, that's like peak comedy is, hey, my kids are in the car. Okay, well, let's talk away from your kids. Are you fucking kidding me?
0:07:52 Lydia: Yeah, but he like comes with this whole thing, you know, he's he's going through a divorce, like he comes up with all these excuses and stuff, um, he says he had
0:08:01 Thomas: So good. The officer's like, yeah, you said you're federal law enforcement. I know.
0:08:09 Lydia: Yeah, uh, he was asked, you know, what have you had, how much have you had to drink, and he said four drinks, and they're like, okay, alcohol, tea, coffee, like, can you tell us exactly what you had? He wouldn't answer that for a very long time, eventually yeah, yeah, yeah, it's to stop talking, but no, but he kept talking throughout this entire thing, uh, eventually he said he had three drinks at at a restaurant that they were at. He couldn't tell the name. He, like, misspoke about a location that they were at, like 100 miles away. Obviously, this guy is drunk. And so that's why he was pulled over. He was driving into oncoming traffic, swerving heavily. And they ended up, yeah, taking him to jail. And he, God, the whole thing is so, it's so good. It's so, so good and so deserved.
0:08:21 Thomas: No, that'S fair. I MEAN, the right thing to do is to stop talking, right? I MEan,
0:08:53 Lydia: And I just fear for those kids.
0:08:56 Matt: Racially
0:08:54 Thomas: That's Unreal. You COULDN'T be more of that guy. Like, Like, to the point of, are you Haitian? Like, unbelievable.
0:08:56 Lydia: Yeah. Mm hmm. Yeah, I
0:09:03 Matt: Profiling the officer who's arresting you. Oh, it
0:09:05 Lydia: Know. And then they're like, that doesn't matter. And he's like, yeah, it does.
0:09:08 Thomas: He's like trying to stop and
0:09:09 Lydia: It does matter.
0:09:09 Thomas: Frisk the officer that's arresting him.
0:09:09 Matt: Matters. Yeah.
0:09:11 Lydia: Yeah? This this police officer.
0:09:12 Matt: I mean, it's hard to pick a favorite part, but good.
0:09:15 Lydia: Oh, I Know. And just like some insight on the 30 minute version. This officer is like, he is so patient. And but also like stern in a way that I think is he is So well done. Shout shout out to that guy. But part of it was towards the end when he was like, you're coming, you know, in the car, this guy's pushing back and fighting back. And they're like, hey, we don't want to do this in front of your kids. But if you start like fighting us on this, we will do it in front of them to try and get the guy to just like knock it off.
0:09:19 Matt: Oh yeah, I
0:09:42 Thomas: Like, hey, we've already given you the most white privilege you could even, you have no idea the amount of white privilege we've given you. We would have shot you already if you were brown. But, you know, it's
0:09:43 Lydia: And oh, yeah, a stop like this. Well, and Even just like the amount of time that they gave him to, like, do the right thing, like with the field sobriety tests and stuff. Like, he pushed back on those. He would, like, start and then recognize, "Oh, I can't stand up without falling over right now," and then he'd, like, lean on his car and try and play it off cool. They gave him so much time, and then the officer eventually was like, "Hey, I know what you're going through, because I got a DUI a couple years ago, and you just have to suck it up. It is what it is. This is part of the deal. Be a man, get over it, get in the car, you're going to spend the night in jail," like, end of story. Um, so yeah, just shout out to, to that cop and, and that whole team for bringing this ICE officer, uh, to jail for being an asshole and driving drunk. Yeah, endangering
0:10:33 Thomas: Incredible. That's incredible,
0:10:35 Matt: Have so much to say about this.
0:10:35 Thomas: Yeah.
0:10:35 Lydia: His kids.
0:10:36 Matt: I mean, the part where they asked for his credentials and he's like, well, I've got a weapon, which is like, that's a very ice answer.
0:10:36 Lydia: Yeah. Yeah.
0:10:42 Thomas: Oh, it'S great because He's, yeah, I love, because you can tell he's like, "Do you have Inks He's like, "No." Like, it was gonna be in his brain. He's like, "Uh, no, I don't see it in my brain." Like, "What are you talking" and then, but like he is ICE.
0:10:54 Matt: I'm really glad he didn't
0:10:55 Thomas: So he, or he is DH. Like, he wasn't lying, right? He is that. Yeah.
0:10:52 Lydia: Um,
0:10:55 Matt: Have it on him.
0:11:00 Lydia: From everything that people can find. Yeah, that he is an ICE officer. Yeah.
0:11:00 Matt: Yeah Yeah, no, it's apparently. Yeah.
0:11:03 Thomas: So It was like he was, I think it was like he was trying to see if he could just get off with a warning and not be identified or something, like, "No, I don't have it." And there's, do you, do you carry it with you? "Don't normally have my gun." What is
0:11:11 Matt: Yeah, yeah.
0:11:04 Lydia: Yeah. Yeah. The the other piece that's great about this too is that, but the officer, yeah, yeah. You can look me up based on the serial number.
0:11:20 Thomas: Your, your gun, your ID? Does he think of that as ID? That's how they announce themselves. Hi, I'm ice. Here's a gun. My gun number. Yeah.
0:11:31 Lydia: The other great thing about this video is obviously the officers that are arresting him aren't masked. He can see their faces. He also knows their name. So, like, he calls the guy Lane, I guess is his first name. So he's like, come on, Lane. Come on, bro. Lane, what are you doing? Lane, with the F, like over and over. Just calls him by his first first name, yeah?
0:11:36 Thomas: Right. Right, yeah. Are
0:11:37 Matt: Right.
0:11:50 Lydia: Yeah. And are you Haitian?
0:11:49 Thomas: You Haitian? God, I just can't
0:11:51 Lydia: Yeah.
0:11:51 Thomas: Believe.
0:11:52 Lydia: Complete racist.
0:11:54 Matt: I got to bring a couple of immigration lawyer points here.
0:11:54 Thomas: Hey, society, do we maybe not want to empower the worst people in our society? Do we not want make this person the most important person in our society and government? Maybe we shouldn't.
0:12:00 Lydia: Yeah. Oh,
0:12:04 Matt: That was my first point. That's my first point, that this is what happens when you give these people this power.
0:12:07 Thomas: Yeah, Matt's internet is failing or something, so we can't.
0:12:11 Lydia: Shoot.
0:12:11 Matt: Can you hear me? Yeah. Okay. Sorry.
0:12:12 Thomas: Oh, you back? Okay. Yeah, your internet's going on and out. So I don't know. We'll see if it seems to be better now, but you're blurry. So the listeners hopefully won't hear the blur.
0:12:15 Matt: All right. Okay, let me just check about. So this is, is how a lot of people come into contact with immigration, is from DUI arrest, and a million people in this country arrested for every, yeah, right. Yeah.
0:12:32 Thomas: Arresting them? No, I thought you were saying like, this is how most people are introduced to immigration. They arrest the immigration people for DUI.
0:12:41 Matt: Citizens arrest. Yeah, that's right. Yeah, yeah. That's right, Yeah.
0:12:44 Thomas: That's the normal way that most of us interact with ICE.
0:12:45 Matt: But a million people in this country are arrested for DUI every year. It's an extremely common crime and I've worked with plenty of people who have. And as the officer said, there's different ways to handle it. And And most of my clients are very compliant because they know that they need to be. But this is a man who routinely just doesn't even give people warnings and smashes windows in with a mask on, right? And this is how he gets treated by, honestly, generally speaking, actual law enforcement does not like or trust these people very much.
They're being very nice to him, considering they're giving him some law enforcement privilege and white privilege, as you said. But this ist somebody that if he were a non -citizen would be detained without bond with no chance of release, because an immigration judge would read that police report in which he's driving the wrong way with kids in the car and mouthing off to the officers, right? I mean, just all the classic signs of a bad arrest and somebody that you shouldn't release on bond. And I hope that this gives them a chance to think about that. Probably
0:12:48 Thomas: Oh,
0:13:06 Lydia: Yeah. Yeah.
0:13:40 Matt: Won't, but I hope it does.
0:13:41 Lydia: It won't.
0:13:43 Matt: I'd like to think so.
0:13:40 Thomas: It won't, okay, yeah, no, yeah, if this was if this was an immigrant, that his kids would just be left in the car while he was taken off to another country and he'd be like, does anyone care?
0:13:49 Matt: Yeah. Yeah. And they would have smashed
0:13:50 Lydia: Yeah.
0:13:52 Thomas: No, no one cares. Yeah.
0:13:52 Matt: The windows in. Yeah. No, no. But this is, yeah, this is ICE. This is what they look like. This is how they are. So, good warm -up.
0:14:00 Thomas: I really hope You know, you say that police don't necessarily like these people, I hope that's true. I mean, I'm not a big fan of the police, although this is a function that we do want police for. I do want, uh, people pulling over people who are driving drunk. That's a great use of it, and I, I maybe we should encourage that professional rivalry, you know, because, and I have to imagine, seeing the, the fact that, like, there's so much money being poured into those bonuses, you know, for ICE recruitment, and the standards are being lowered, and I just hope, hey, officers, if you're listening, don't these people fucking suck? These do-nothing federal officers that get, get a $50,000 signing bonus and have no qualifications. They suck. Let's encourage some, some rivalry.
0:14:10 Lydia: Yeah. Yeah. Agreed.
0:14:34 Lydia: Yeah. Yeah.
0:14:41 Thomas: I don't mind it. Fight each other, please. Anyway, that is a classic amuse douche. Uh, anything else need to be said about that before you fade off into internet, Matt?
0:14:41 Lydia: Take them out. Yeah.
0:14:52 Thomas: You're like a Jedi ghost right now, a force ghost. We can kind of see you.
0:14:44 Matt: Yeah. I think it speaks for itself, I think.
0:15:00 Thomas: All right. Uh. Well, then are we, are we taking a break and getting to our next thing already? Oh, wow. Well then I I guess that means I need to read us off some page. It is the amuse douche. So it is a quick, delicious.
0:15:04 Lydia: Easy Peasy. One, yes. Oh.
0:15:11 Thomas: Great on the palate.
0:15:13 Lydia: A single bite.
0:15:13 Thomas: Yeah. Yeah. And it's, and it's enough, you know, but we should take a break and it is. And it is brought to you by the following amazing people. Mark Schultz, hors d'oeuvres in the court before we report. Gavelhead. Chucking away. E.T., love the extra episodes. Chris Simpson. Fraud Fishy Hates Everything. Cajunkilla. Thomas Freeman. Huh? Weird. Weird, this patron name is blinking. What happens if I, oh no, even a blind squirrel can find these chunks. It's good every time. It is a reference to our chunk method of, of podcasting. Next Antifa conference call is at 2 PM sharp. If you're late, Soros will dock your pay.
0:15:13 Lydia: Right. Yeah. Yes. Yep.
0:15:50 Thomas: And that's important to me. I can't, it's how I get by is, is Soros money. So cavalri, I love how Soros hired, well, we're going to talk about it in the next segment. What amazing ability to just organize. We should make Soros the president. Like if that one guy is able to organize that many people to do a thing just by paying them or something.
0:16:06 Matt: Yeah, beautiful.
0:15:59 Lydia: We sure are, yeah. Or like, like the head of the DNC or something, right? Like, like something thing.
0:16:14 Thomas: He's the emperor of earth. I don't know. It's like pretty crazy. Cavalri. Vehicular Man's Laughter, simply mind blown that Eli of all people is objectively wrong on Spoonology. That's a Dear Old Dads reference probably. Jaysank, (You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Ex Parte), and aibohphobia, which someone said is a phobia of palindromes and it is a palindrome. So if that's true, it's great. If it's not true, don't care.
0:16:15 Lydia: Yeah. Yeah. Oh.
0:16:43 Thomas: It is true.
0:16:43 Matt: I love it. I want it to be true.
0:16:46 Thomas: Yeah.
0:16:45 Lydia: Also like that's kind of horrible, that's sort of horrible that, yeah, your fear of palindromes is a palindrome, like that is the, like, dressing up as a carrot and chasing someone on Ellen, like yeah.
0:16:47 Thomas: Yeah. That's where they're, I can't even say what I'm afraid of. Yeah. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself kind of thing. Like, yeah, I came to name my fears. Yeah. The only other thing I was going to say is, is it's like where you're like, well, you want onomatopoeia to be an onomatopeia or whatever, you know, like you want the word to be the thing. It's kind of cool. Palindrome should be a palindrome actually. That's what, but at least this is the next best thing that we have. So, all right, well we'll take that break and get to our next segment, which This episode is brought to you by HelloFresh. Is here, and no matter how many ads make me say that, I'm happy every time. 0:17:01 Lydia: Oh, uh -huh. Yeah. I agree.
0:17:21 Lydia: Cool.
0:18:58 Thomas: Are we talking about next?
0:18:59 Lydia: That National Review piece.
0:19:01 Thomas: Oh yes. The tactical frivolity of No Kings enough to make Americans forget about real love for left -wing radicals? Stupid. Okay. Is the false premise enough to get rid of the false promise of the other false premise?
0:19:10 Lydia: Hmm. Yeah.
0:19:13 Matt: This, yeah, yeah. This is the fundamental problem they have, of course. Right. To
0:19:20 Thomas: Like what?
0:19:20 Lydia: All
0:19:20 Matt: Forget about the previous fault problem. Yeah yeah right right. Okay. Yeah, let's get into it.
0:19:22 Thomas: Yeah.
0:19:25 Lydia: Right. Let's see. So, yeah, this is like a piece that Brittany Bernstein does every week, I guess.
0:19:27 Thomas: Welcome back to forgotten fact checks. What's forgotten about it?
0:19:37 Lydia: I don't know. I guess that that the left wing is violent.
0:19:38 Thomas: Is she like, nobody's reading these, but I'll keep doing them? Yeah.
0:19:39 Matt: I don't get it.
0:19:42 Lydia: I guess that what's forgotten is that we're violent and we we don't know it. So yeah, so there's a few pieces in here. We're just going to focus on this first one that she talks about. Democrats Democrats looked to rewrite the narrative with no -kings protests. Millions of well -meaning Americans showed up to no -king's protests across the country on Saturday and went to great lengths, including dressing up in inflatable animal costumes, to distance themselves from the violent, black -block radicals of Antifa.
0:19:46 Thomas: OK, this is I already I already love this.
0:20:09 Matt: Is that what we're doing?
0:20:12 Lydia: The costumes and general air of harmless mischief are part of what one New York Times writer described as, quote, tactical frivolity. The protesters succeeded in separating themselves from the Antifa militants who show up in force to engage in lawbreaking. The goofily dressed boomer grandparents who flooded American cities over the weekend are not the same people laying siege to federal buildings or cheering on the assassination of the UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson or Charlie Kirk. At least the vast majority of them aren't.
0:20:43 Matt: So yeah, let's break that down real quick, this paragraph. Because again, as Thomas is saying, you're using more falsehoods to cover up, to try to reference your previous falsehood. First of all, I do really like the phrase tactical frivolity. I think that's awesome. And it's true. There's a lot of value in showing up and showing that we are here and we're relatively harmless.
0:21:03 Matt: We're here in force, but but we're not here to cause problems. And I love the animal costumes. I love The Line dancing. I love signs.
0:21:03 Thomas: Yeah.
0:20:44 Lydia: These. Yeah. Yeah, right. Yeah yeah. Mm -hmm. I love it. I love it so much.
0:21:10 Matt: And I hate crowds, but I took a nice long walk through the Boston Common this weekend to just enjoy being around. Obviously, I live in a bubble, beautiful blue bubble, but I got to enjoy a lot of great signs, good energy, good food. I didn't see a single sign of anything that concerned me in the least. But the setup here that all we're doing here is trying to distance ourselves from the real bad people, right? And the examples.
0:21:19 Lydia: Mm -hm.
0:21:34 Thomas: Yeah, let me translate. Do the masses of people are the masses of people enough to overshadow the tiny, tiny exceptions? It's like, well, that's you're just you're just saying what it's happened. You know what I mean?
0:21:46 Lydia: Yeah. Well, that thread will continue here. Yeah.
0:21:53 Thomas: It is like, what do you mean? Like, It's pretty, it's absurd to be like, it's, it's self-containedly absurd to say, I don't know, will all these millions of people, what they're trying to do is trick you into thinking that they're not the one exception. It's like, well, that's not a trick then. They're, they are, they're doing that, like, you know what I mean? Like, that's their, if they're just all coming forward and saying, "This is who we are," that's not a trick. They're literally just saying who this is. Who we are. They are exposing
0:21:53 Lydia: Yeah. Mm
0:21:53 Matt: And yeah, yeah.
0:22:10 Lydia: -jm. Right.
0:22:24 Matt: No,
0:22:24 Thomas: Your trick which is that you've just, high, you always highlight the worst example of, like, one or two people and, but definitionally, if 10 million people come and say, "We're not that person," that's not a trick, that's just working, that's honest, that's what they're, you can't they can't be wrong, they're not wrong, you know what I mean? Like, that
0:22:25 Matt: These boomers, well,
0:22:30 Lydia: Right.
0:22:38 Matt: You're not in the group chat, obviously. Nobody invited you to the group chat, the 10 million, because obviously it's boomers and BlackBlock and the bloomers are running cover for BlackBock. That's That's the whole point. That's the purpose. There's a conspiracy here. They all, everybody's in on it. And there were thousands apparently of instances of violence that we just didn't get told about by the mainstream media. I, she's got nothing here. She's got something. She's got nothing, obviously. Like she's really grasping because everything went fine. That's the problem.
0:22:44 Thomas: Yeah. Yeah. What
0:23:05 Lydia: Well, I mean, and that's clear because then she has to, the first examples that she gives here are Charlie Kirk, which we've talked about to death, and the UnitedHealthcare CEO, right? Like, she can't give any examples beyond those two, really. Uh, no,
0:23:17 Matt: Right. Right?
0:23:23 Thomas: Even, but that has nothing to do with anything. But so they, it doesn't negate the existence of the violent group, which, which I love. Why would, what, first off, yes it does. Because it's like if the, if the point you're making is is not, because the point they're always making is not that a violent segment of people exists, because sure, there's some segment of violence somewhere and everything, or some semblance of whatever. There's some fragment of tiny people.
0:23:25 Lydia: It doesn't, it's just saying cheering, cheering them on, but yeah, get
0:23:26 Matt: Nope.
0:23:49 Thomas: Yeah.
0:23:48 Lydia: Enough humans together, and you're
0:23:50 Thomas: But the point their making is that that's all of us. The point they are trying to make is that's all of, or that represents some meaningful amount of us, and so if literally everyone else gets up and is like, "No, this is just who we are," you can't argue with that. There's no actual, it's, it's very funny to, to be like, "Oh, you're, but you're just existing to, to try to, you're the point of you being alive is that you're trying to make, distract me from the other people." It's like, no, that's, we're just here. That's what the left is. You're doing the distracting. Oh,
0:23:50 Lydia: Gonna have something. Yeah. Yeah.
0:24:19 Lydia: Yep. Yep, definitely. All right, continuing. On
0:24:24 Matt: Meanwhile, in the last few days, we've had, well, I just want to mention, we've hit the group chat in which it's been revealed that a lot of our young Republicans are actively being Nazis, right? So does the existence of the, the National Review negate, right? I mean, like, yeah.
0:24:24 Lydia: Yeah God. Yeah. Yeah.
0:24:31 Thomas: God. Yeah. Well, Same people. You'd have to pick an example that's not Nazis. Man, okay.
0:24:36 Matt: Yeah. Right. It's True, yeah, sure. I was giving him, yeah, trying to be nice. Let's not be nice, that
0:24:44 Thomas: In
0:24:44 Lydia: All right, these are two separate groups, but the existence of the harmless group does not negate the existence of the violent group, despite what mainstream commentators will try to tell you. Man, I am struggling. Jimmy Kimmel called Antifa, quote, "an entirely imaginary organization," while NBC's Chuck Todd said, quote, "I don't even know what Antifa is. There is no group." CNN's Aaron Burnett claimed, quote, "Antifa-linked violence is rare and limited." Have Kimmel and Todd forgotten the Portland shooter who declared his allegiance to Antifa in 2020?
0:25:15 Thomas: Response to a quote of "it's rare and limited": did they forget that one time in 1876, though, that there is one guy, it's like, they don't even know about that one thing we make hay out of for five fucking years. We're almost in 2026 and literally the response to "it's rarer" is, it's like, they forgot about six years ago.
0:25:23 Lydia: Yeah. I know. I Know, I know. Yeah, it's
0:25:36 Thomas: Oh,
0:25:38 Matt: One guy get
0:25:38 Thomas: Boy. What else happened in round 2021, 2020, that, that even, even like more recently, that was a bunch of violence that maybe was more significant than that? Anything happen maybe around the Capitol that's way more important and significant than that?
0:25:39 Lydia: Rare yep or the Alabama Antifa sympathizer who pleaded guilty to setting off an explosive device filled with nails outside the state attorney general's office. What about the George Floyd protests in
0:26:00 Matt: Some new material right
0:26:00 Thomas: When? Oh, when were those George Floyd protests? Oh, 2020.
0:26:03 Lydia: In 2020, which left the Mark O. Hatfield Federal Courthouse in Portland with more than 1 .6 million dollars in damage. Yeah.
0:26:05 Matt: And want
0:26:04 Thomas: Okay. Also, all your examples are from one place.
0:26:10 Matt: Someone think of the courthouse yeah
0:26:13 Thomas: It's like, again, even to grant this, it's like this is a big problem. It's everywhere. And here's two examples from the same one place six years ago.
0:26:13 Matt: Right yes totally, and
0:26:23 Thomas: Even if I wanted to grant that. Yeah, good.
0:26:12 Lydia: Yeah right
0:26:23 Matt: Also as discussed right well, as discussed last week, the Alabama thing was at 3.42 in the morning. Again, not excusing it. We're not encouraging it. I'm just saying that she makes it sound like this was like the Boston bombing, right? I mean, this is...
0:26:31 Lydia: Right right
0:26:37 Thomas: Oh, and when, when was that? Was that a more recent one? Let's it might have been let's see, but it'd be funny if it was still 2020.
0:26:37 Matt: Yeah. That was more recent. Yeah. Yeah, but I
0:26:42 Thomas: I was gonna click on it, but it's decided, oh, because we're on that we're that archive thing.
0:26:37 Lydia: Right. Oh, you're looking it up? Yep.
0:26:48 Thomas: When was it from?
0:26:47 Matt: Think it might have been last year.
0:26:48 Thomas: Oh, it's the same person. Oh, so this, oh, they're linking to their own, so it was early 2024.
0:26:49 Matt: It was last year, yeah. Yeah yeah, but Turley
0:26:50 Lydia: Yep. Yeah, of course.
0:26:54 Thomas: Okay, so they can point, they can't point to anything. None of these examples are post-Trump 2.0 even, because that one is early 2024.
0:26:56 Matt: Mentioned this in the last one last Yeah,
0:27:02 Lydia: No. Mm-hmm.
0:27:06 Thomas: So it's like, again, you're trying to make a whole thing about the people right now, and all your examples are from 2020 and then one from early 2024, okay, cool, here
0:27:16 Lydia: Yep, all right. To get more specific for the amnesiac press, an indictment filed against two alleged Antifa members last week shows just how organized and dangerous the group can be. And so this is specifically about the Antifa attack on the ICE facility, right, in Texas?
0:27:22 Matt: That's us.
0:27:25 Thomas: We go, oh, all right, well,
0:27:37 Lydia: And they are bringing terrorism charges to those involved because of being Antifa. I don't know a lot about this. I don't know if you guys have covered this.
0:27:47 Thomas: If it's DOJ, it's DOJ now,
0:27:49 Lydia: Yes, DOJ Now.
0:27:49 Thomas: So I'm sure Whoever this person was, obviously, if they attacked something, then them they're probably violent, um, say what you want about that, but this is DOJ propaganda: the Antifa cell.
0:27:50 Lydia: Oh, yeah. The Antifa cell.
0:28:02 Thomas: Antifa
0:28:02 Lydia: Exactly. That's a header in the indictment. Yeah.
0:28:03 Matt: Yep. Yep, and
0:28:06 Thomas: Is a militant enterprise made up of networks of individuals. It's a network of individuals. Um, there are, so that's the trick, see, that's how they get you. It's individuals, but, but they're networked. So, cool, yeah.
0:28:13 Lydia: Yeah.
0:28:22 Lydia: Yeah. I want to read through that whole indictment to
0:28:23 Matt: I like how they're revolutionary anarchists
0:28:24 Thomas: I kind of want to, yeah.
0:28:25 Matt: Or autonomous Marxists, right? So it's like, pick a lane. I mean, those are very different groups. But yeah, this whole thing of capital A, they are so excited to be able to put this in the indictment. And of course, this is just an indictment, it's going to go through a long process. But again, this This is the, yeah, yeah.
0:28:28 Lydia: Creative
0:28:40 Thomas: Well, and once you've ruined the legitimacy of something like DOJ, then they're just people writing stuff that doesn't they're just lying now, like it it would have, there would have been a time where you could put some stock into that, like you could, we would go to indictments to learn about stuff like that. Doesn't mean it, it was the gospel, but like there would be some semblance of facts.
0:28:47 Lydia: Writers. Yeah.
0:28:49 Matt: Yeah.
0:29:01 Lydia: Right.
0:29:01 Thomas: Now it's just not that. So now all you're doing is pointing to another blogger who, that's an old term, but you're pointing to other internet shit poster who happens to work at DOJ who wrote internet shit posting on a DOJ PDF. And then that's, that legitimizes your whole theory.
0:29:02 Lydia: Right. Yeah. And as the White House said earlier this month, Antifa militants have, quote, laid siege to the Icefield office in South Portland since early June. Quote, the terrorists have violently breached the facility by using a stop sign as a battering ram, hurled explosives and projectiles, burned American flags, viciously assaulted, attacked and injured officers.
0:29:20 Matt: Yeah. Yeah.
0:29:38 Thomas: Sorry. That's not, hold on.
0:29:39 Lydia: Officers, yep.
0:29:39 Thomas: You meant that's that one doesn't match the others. They violently expressed stuff by burning No, that's not an attack. Actually, you don't get to just include that one in there.
0:29:47 Lydia: Yep. Yep. Uh, doxed officers, berated neighbors, and even rolled out a guillotine. Yeah.
0:29:58 Thomas: Yeah. Was it the one that they had a January 6th? Like, did they still have that one lying around?
0:29:59 Lydia: Yeah. So, I, I clicked on, I was like, "There is no way." So it's like, yeah, makeshift guillotine. This was about a hundred people and, like, a hundred people total. And one buddy, somebody, like, brought, brought out a fake guillotine as a display.
0:30:04 Thomas: Yeah. A hundred people. Yeah, yeah. Yeah and that's a. Yeah it's it's I think I want to be careful because like when they were doing that to Mike Pence that's because they wanted to kill Mike Pence. Violence, this, I mean, and, and again, there may be a group of people who's willing to do political violence like this, but you keep coming back to the same place, which is Portland. And you could talk about Portland, but then you're just talking about Portland. I don't, I don't live in Portland. I don't know. I, a lot of people don't.
0:30:45 Lydia: The vast majority of Americans don't live in Portland.
0:30:47 Thomas: Yeah. That's, look, I think the math checks out on that. I'm not gonna criticize your... yeah. You
0:30:52 Lydia: Thank you.
0:30:49 Matt: Well, let's talk about Portland though for just a second, because we did talk about it in our own opening arguments a couple of weeks ago. And the Portland police chief testified before a federal judge that what was happening at the ICE facility was completely under control and far less than they have to deal with on an average Saturday night than just the regular nightlife district in Portland, right? It was like, no, they were not concerned at all.
0:30:54 Thomas: Know if okay sure and
0:30:56 Lydia: Yeah.
0:31:12 Thomas: Keep in mind that guy was wearing a Clan hood, he took off his Clan hood and was like, look, I'm as racist as the next person or more but this is not, we don't need federal troops or whatever the hell federal whatever. Yeah.
0:31:16 Matt: Right. Right.
0:31:20 Lydia: Yeah, yeah. Mm
0:31:25 Matt: And the federal judge agreed and found that Trump couldn't send troops into Portland because, again, this is the worst they could do, these examples. Again, not saying some of this stuff is great, but it's just completely within the control of local authorities. This is not something that has spiraled out, and this is certainly not some sort of organized Antifa effort.
0:31:28 Thomas: Oh,
0:31:44 Lydia: Mm-hmm. Yeah, well, and so she continues with another Portland example here, and things did in fact turn violent in Portland on Saturday evening outside an ICE facility, and the tweet here says, "Breaking: federal police deploy endless rounds of tear gas and crowd control munitions to disperse unlawful crowd outside the ICE facility started it, yeah.
0:32:02 Thomas: So the federal police were violent? Yeah, okay.
0:32:04 Lydia: War like scenes as protesters launch munitions back at federal agents, starting fires it
0:32:05 Thomas: Oh. Do, I guess I could hit play on this, maybe. Oh. It Probably, probably won't work.
0:32:12 Lydia: May I don't know if it'll work.
0:32:13 Thomas: Huh. Darn.
0:32:14 Lydia: Dang.
0:32:15 Thomas: Oh. Well, oh.
0:32:15 Lydia: Yeah, yeah. So that, that sure sounds like Uh, Antifa.
0:32:20 Thomas: It's an image. Okay. Oh, yeah, that might
0:32:22 Lydia: Didn't
0:32:22 Thomas: Just be an image. All right. Yeah.
0:32:23 Lydia: Do anything there.
0:32:24 Thomas: That Sure, it's funny when, when you're like, federal police deploy tear gas. And Yeah, is that, I mean, who? I don't know who that is but if that's their source.
0:32:24 Lydia: Yep. Endless Endless rounds. I mean like And this is obviously an extreme thing, but like, if someone throws a grenade and, like, at you and it hasn't gone off, wouldn't you pick it up and throw it back? Like I know.
0:32:45 Thomas: Okay, it's not a grenade, but Yes.
0:32:46 Lydia: I know, that's why I said this is an extreme example, but like But still, like, it hasn't
0:32:47 Matt: Right, right.
0:32:48 Thomas: Yeah, yeah. Oh. That they do that all the time. Yeah, it's like they charge people for, like, not, you know, for throwing back their shit they already threw at them.
0:32:51 Lydia: Yeah. Like I don't want it. If you like it so much, you can have it. I'm just gonna give it back.
0:32:58 Thomas: Yeah. It is like you have
0:33:02 Lydia: Back to you.
0:33:02 Thomas: To take the tear gas canister to your face, otherwise you are doing a crime back, and it is okay. Cool, fascist. Yeah.
0:33:05 Lydia: Yeah. Meanwhile, more than a dozen people were arrested after the No Kings protest in Los Angeles. ABC7 reports it is unclear what charges they are facing, but police said one officer was injured. The outlet reported small crowds stuck around downtown as the night wore on, leading police to issue multiple dispersal orders. Nearly 100 agitators walked toward Aliso and Alameda as some pointed lasers and flashing lights at officers and an LAPD pilot. So, OK, I looked into this a little bit. It is 14 people were arrested, 12 adults, two minors out of what some estimate to be 100,000 protesters in the city that day. I say that's pretty freaking good. They still have not said publicly what they've been arrested for. And yeah, those dispersal orders came at 7 p.m. One officer was injured. They also say that two residents were injured. But I don't know, like in in L.A., I feel like that's really not bad.
0:34:02 Thomas: And I think I did see that someone, don't point lasers at aircraft, don't do that. That is not a thing you should do, um, I mean, that just for a million reasons. Then there's going to be people here and there who, like, when a group of people are not happy with the fascism you're doing, a lot of people aren't going to get upset, some of those people might do dumb things, end of story. Okay, I like how they're like, they didn't even, it's unclear what charges, as though that's, like, bolsters the point. It's like, no, that's because it's almost always bullshit. There might, they have to come up with something, and then sometimes they don't, like they keep not, not charging, or, or Matt, we've talked about, you know, you've talked about the, the grand juries and places just being like, nah, which
0:34:07 Lydia: Yeah. Yeah. Mm hmm. Yep. Yeah, mm
0:34:08 Matt: Yeah. Ever.
0:34:44 Matt: Yeah, yeah.
0:34:44 Thomas: Is crazy. Cause it's the old, you can indict a ham sandwich until you get to this point. And they're like, we're not going to indict the guy who threw a ham sandwich at the officer.
0:34:45 Matt: Not having it. Yeah that's right.
0:34:47 Lydia: Hmm. Yeah.
0:34:52 Thomas: It's like, it's fantastic.
0:34:52 Matt: It's so good. It's good. Yeah
0:34:53 Lydia: Yeah.
0:34:54 Thomas: Keep it up, everybody.
0:34:54 Matt: And I mean, again, you know how good I am at math. I assume a dozen is like half of a hundred thousand, so that is pretty bad. I see her point here.
0:35:02 Thomas: It's it's that, that means that the crowd is even more safe for the police than the COVID vaccine is like, that's how, that is. That's how that's the level. If you're at like 12 out of 100,000, we're getting we're approaching like COVID vaccine injury in reality levels like like nothing. It's like actually nothing.
0:35:10 Lydia: Yeah. Yep.
0:35:11 Matt: Wow, there's some math. And these are the worst examples that she can come up with from the weekend in LA.
0:35:23 Lydia: I know.
0:35:26 Matt: Incredible.
0:35:23 Thomas: Mm hmm. Yep. She's not. So hold on. She's Not Building Up to Like. And then there was the ritual murder of 40,000 people. She's NOT Working Up to That or Anything.
0:35:33 Lydia: As everyone shouted, Antifa is is law.
0:35:35 Thomas: Yeah. Antifa. In the Red Robes of Antifa and yeah.
0:35:37 Lydia: Yeah. Yeah. Eager to distance themselves from their more radical activist fringe, elected Democrats have gone out of their way to put a relatable face on the left-wing protest movement. As Politico reported, Senator Elisa Slotkin helped organize a social media video of Democratic lawmakers who have served the country in national security roles to encourage people to turn out to the protests. In the video, Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, a former Navy captain and pilot, called on those who have served to, quote, step up for the country we all love and protest, quote out of a deep sense of patriotism. And the media got the message.
0:35:42 Thomas: Oh, boy.
0:36:15 Thomas: Huh, okay, is
0:36:16 Lydia: NPR.
0:36:17 Thomas: That your big line? Oh, there's more. Oh, darn. Yep.
0:36:17 Lydia: Yeah. Yeah, NPR reported that demonstrators were united in protest to protect America and
0:36:22 Thomas: Well, they were. That's because they reported what was happening.
0:36:25 Lydia: Were peacefully protesting with song and dance. Yeah.
0:36:25 Thomas: Yeah. They were. No, even in your premise, they were. What do you mean your own premise as well? In order to distract from the lizard people, they, a bunch of humans came out so that we will forget about the lizards.
0:36:30 Lydia: Yep. Except for like 14 people. That there are lizards.
0:36:41 Thomas: And then NPR's in on it because they're like, "Look, look at all the humans." It's like, no, that, even in your premise, they're just reporting the humans.
0:36:41 Lydia: Yeah. Yeah, yeah. The New Republic claimed Republicans should be afraid. Just look at who joined No King's protests.
0:36:55 Thomas: Yeah. What is this complaint? Yes.
0:36:58 Lydia: For days, Republicans have been claiming No King protestors are all agitators and terrorists. Well, America had a different message for them and for their dear leader, the outlet wrote.
0:37:05 Thomas: Yeah. This is just this.
0:37:07 Matt: Literally, yes.
0:37:08 Thomas: Isn't even like woke facts, this is just report, plain reporting. Okay.
0:37:10 Lydia: Yeah. The New York Times published a column on the rise of the inflatable chicken resistance. This humorous form of protest, known as tactical frivolity, shows the absurdity of the charge that all the protesters are armed militants.
0:37:24 Thomas: Interns.
0:37:25 Lydia: In contravention of the Trump administration's claims that the protesters were all Hamas agents or Antifa interns, the protest in Chicago was wholesome, non-aggressive, and almost shockingly middle of the road. It's hard to call an inflatable chicken dangerous. Yeah.
0:37:31 Matt: Interns.
0:37:41 Thomas: Yeah, what is wrong with what in your view, whoever the fuck this idiot was writing this, what is wrong with that reporting? What do you think that, what's the way, what can you
0:37:43 Lydia: Yeah.
0:37:49 Matt: She's just mad about it. She's just mad that it worked.
0:37:51 Lydia: Yeah. Exactly. Exactly, the Washington Post, the
0:37:50 Thomas: Yeah. And these people say like the truth and stuff. Fuck that. Okay.
0:37:57 Lydia: Washington Post reported that the costumes are being donned in part as a rebuke to Republicans portraying the events as hate America rallies and the Trump administration's claims that blue cities like Chicago and Portland are riddled with crime. Yeah.
0:37:58 Thomas: Yes. Yeah. That's, again, I know I keep harping on it, I'm saying this is not even woke progressive lefty me saying, yes, this is right, this is like, like mainstream media. Correct. This is like plainly true.
0:38:11 Lydia: Yeah.
0:38:20 Matt: Yep.
0:38:20 Lydia: The New York Times, who will both sides anything, like that's It's what they're offering.
0:38:24 Thomas: Yeah. And there, and a lot of the reporting is just talking about what their strategy is. Well, here's what the frog costumes are doing. Yeah, that you can't argue with that reporting. That's what they're doing. What are you talking?
0:38:27 Lydia: Yeah. Yeah. Mm -hmm. Senator Cory Booker shared a Daily Show clip that juxtaposed Trump's claims of lawlessness in Portland with scenes of dancing protesters. Funny but true, Booker wrote.
0:38:45 Thomas: Yes. What you're just writing. Now you're just including true things.
0:38:48 Lydia: Yeah. It's great that there are millions of Democrats out there willing to dress up as chickens to prove their unseriousness. But let's not pretend that everyone to their left is playing around, too.
0:38:48 Thomas: Cool.
0:39:00 Thomas: Oh, now we're proving our unseriousness. If we do, use. I thought we were covering for the Antifa super soldier, but now we're just like, we're also not serious. Can we, we are, Schrodinger's left is having a real identity crisis. I don't know if I'm an Antifa, super soldier capable of murder at a glance, or if I'M just an idiot in a chicken suit or whatever. Like, who are we? I don'T know. And I say, we, in the broad sense left, like who, like I, every day we're a different thing.
0:39:04 Matt: Incredible.
0:39:06 Lydia: Yeah. That's it, by the way.
0:39:30 Thomas: You know, it's like, God damn, we're we're super killers, we're violent, and then we're also unserious, you know unserious frog costume people we
0:39:20 Lydia: Yeah. Yeah. Mm hmm. Yeah. Mm
0:39:37 Matt: Could we, I want to talk about the people to the right of Brittany Bernstein. You know, all those young Republicans in those group chats, the Nazi flag that was hanging in the House office. I mean, like we've seen some really horrible, dangerous right-wing extremism, and this is what she's got. This is it. And she's just mad that we're having a good time. And that means we're winning.
0:39:43 Lydia: Hmm right. Right. Yeah yeah
0:39:57 Thomas: Could talk to the people to the middle of her, there's not, it's not even, it's, it is them now. Like, they, there are, they're so radicalized that it's, they're buying into, like, it used to be that, oh yeah, the MAGA right is in la la land, like just totally unfactual territory, territory. But then there's still, like, these semi-serious right-wing people who are still wrong but, like, in the realm of facts, and that at one time might have been some people who wrote for the National Review, even though, again, I don't agree with them, but they were at least trying to do something, like, facts sort of. And this is, you're just, you're out there too now. You're all one thing. Yeah.
0:39:58 Lydia: Exactly. Yeah, I mean I'll be honest, she is pretty young, so some of those, like, young Republicans that showed up in the news, like, those are some of her contemporaries, right. She graduated college in 2018, like, this is what the party looks like now, kind of end of story. Um and Yeah, she's just been with the National Review since June 2020 and it has formed her entire worldview. Yeah.
0:40:39 Thomas: Yeah.
0:40:55 Matt: And it says so much that you don't see a single call, at least I haven't yet, on do we have a Nazi problem? Do we have a problem that we need to deal with in the Republican Party to our right? That would really freak me out if I were a person of conscience writing for the National Review and I realized that I'm surrounded by people who think it's fun to talk about how much they love Hitler.
0:41:02 Thomas: Look
0:41:03 Lydia: Right. Yeah.
0:41:14 Thomas: I know this is the airing of grievances, but the fucking president incident did an AI video of him dumping shit on America, on the protesters, and they didn't even report on it, like, that's what level of fucking upside down land bullshit media we're in. The Sunday shows, according to that one guy who posts all that stuff and I trust because he watches all of it Aaron or whatever.
0:41:21 Lydia: For exercising their constitutional right Yeah.
0:41:39 Lydia: Rupar. Yeah.
0:41:41 Thomas: He said none of the Sunday shows mentioned it. They didn't mention the, we, if, if Hillary is caught on mic saying, well, there's this basket of deplorables, oh my god, end of her election chances. Look at how much the left sneers at us, the latte-sipping left, they hate it. The president tweets a video of him dumping physical shit on the Americans he doesn't like, not news, not reported. That's how we've gotten to where we are. The double standards are fucking, fucking insane.
0:41:41 Lydia: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
0:41:41 Matt: And some
0:42:11 Thomas: It's absolutely insane. Stupid.
0:42:11 Lydia: Agree
0:42:16 Matt: Of the biggest protests ever in American history. And I mean, really important.
0:42:16 Lydia: With you 100%. Yeah.
0:42:21 Thomas: Yeah.
0:42:21 Matt: Glad everybody got out. It was beautiful weather in Boston. Glad to see it. But the reporting that they give to right-wing stuff, still on top of all of this, as if none of this matters. It's just, yeah, here we are.
0:42:31 Thomas: Yep. And even, even when they report on it, it's an annoying fucking way. Like, like the whole, like, well, you know, they're, theyre, uh, uh, Trump, Trump has an issue. Like really, you're just going to report on the horse race, like of what the election is. It's all the horse racing. It's all the, it's the horse race stuff too. Even when they rapport on it. Well, a lot of people, we'll see if this matters in the election. Why don't we talk about the fucking fascism that we're protesting? You know, Know, like, what do you, like, it's just, it's all, it's fucking ruined. Mainstream media sucks. Don't listen to them. Like, like, we're, I love how we've gotten to the point and where it's ruined to the point where I and the right are saying the same thing, which is that the mainstream media sucked.
0:42:47 Matt: Yeah.
0:42:52 Lydia: Yeah.
0:43:08 Thomas: Everyone agrees that the mainstream media is worthless now. Cool. Yeah.
0:43:05 Lydia: And You can't trust them. Yeah. Yep.
0:43:11 Matt: Well, I for one want to thank Brittany Bernstein for cheering me up because this piece tells me that it worked. We're winning. We are making them very mad. Like, that's what this is.
0:43:11 Lydia: Yeah.
0:43:17 Thomas: Yeah. Yeah.
0:43:19 Lydia: It's the same. Same thing, like, like when, when Walls was, was calling everybody weird. Right? It's like that same kind of feel. Granted, it didn't win us the election, but I think it.
0:43:25 Matt: Should have kept on it. It's
0:43:30 Lydia: Yeah, I think it's a great tactic. And I think dressing up in costumes is also always a great tactics. So I'm here for it.
0:43:33 Matt: True. That's right. Tactical weirdness.
0:43:37 Thomas: It's Brilliant.
0:43:37 Matt: That s
0:43:37 Lydia: Mm hmm.
0:43:38 Thomas: Yeah, it was brilliant. I love how innovative a lot of these Antifa super soldiers are. No, the of of protesters on the left are really innovative, you know, and there's... there's so much. Who did I talk to about that? Can't remember now, but just the the no, gosh, I almost had it. But the little innovations they learn from from these because like, you Know, us normies are not, you know, out there doing a lot Of this stuff. We're not we're not putting ourselves in danger like like like some of these people are, and they learn a lot. It's really cool. Like the amount they learn from each other and from their experience in these protests and the innovation and the, the things they do for both for safety to be very effective and, and to try to make their message heard in, in the best way as possible. It was never, there's always going to be some bullshit that the right will seize on to try and invalidate the entire thing, but it's really cool. And I just, once they were doing the frog costume stuff, I was like, man, that's genius.
0:43:38 Matt: Right.
0:43:44 Lydia: Mm hm. Yeah.
0:44:34 Thomas: Genius. It's so smart.
0:44:34 Lydia: So smart. Yeah
0:44:34 Matt: And remember, the frog costume, where that came from was because a 25-year-old guy out there protesting ICE got pepper sprayed in the face while wearing a frog costume. And in solidarity, a bunch of people got inflatable frog costumes.
0:44:35 Lydia: Yeah.
0:44:43 Thomas: Oh, I didn't even know that. I thought it was just genius because of, you know, but yeah, exactly. It is so cool.
0:44:46 Matt: But that's great that people pick up on that and honor that. So here we are. Yeah, good work, Brittany. Thank you for for cheering me up.
0:44:49 Thomas: Yeah.
0:44:51 Lydia: Yeah. Well, should we move on to our next one? I think we we got to take a break before we do Steve Scalise.
0:44:56 Matt: Yeah, let's move on. This is a quick one, the next one.
0:45:00 Thomas: All right. Let's take our final break and read off our last bit of patrons here. Thank you to A Negative Phenomenon, Deep in the Bloops, Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer, Nick Fish. Love Nick. It was on the other day. David Souther or Soother, sorry, probably a real person is a separate one there. Apprentice of Adventure, Fourth Circuit attorney reluctantly changing her font. Charlie Kelly, attorney at Byrd Law, normalized bidirectional spooning, another dad's reference. Cyanitis, do nine men interpret, nine med, nine men, I nod. It's a palindrome, so it's a little weird.
0:45:02 Lydia: Yeah, yeah.
0:45:36 Lydia: What? Yeah, is it?
0:45:46 Thomas: Do nine meninterpret, ninemen, Inod. Odd. Okay. That's something, something going on. It's a palindrome. I don't know what, yeah, this is, you know, I see you working.
0:45:47 Matt: Sorry, I have a phobia.
0:45:54 Lydia: Yeah. But but the meaning like Like, does it? I don't know.
0:45:57 Thomas: Yeah. I mean, you knows, nine, it's not men, but you know Supreme Court justices. I dunno. Mike Lapinsky protect trans kids. Deep space nine was the best star Trek. I'm mean, uh, Donna Treadaway, Mother of Harridans.
0:46:03 Lydia: Oh, I see. Yeah. Okay. Oh. Amina's up there.
0:46:13 Thomas: Yeah, I mean is that new Amina or did you have a different name?
0:46:14 Lydia: Or have you just changed to your name?
0:46:16 Thomas: How did we not, did I never notice that that was you? I love Amina. UnreMerkable. Vetinari for America 2028 - One Man, One Vote. There you go. All right, we're gonna take our last break. I'm
0:46:19 Lydia: Yeah.
0:46:31 Matt: So we have got Steve Scalise, of course, high-ranking Republican, writing about how the Democrats are actually responsible for everything that is wrong right now. And they should not be chairing the No Kings protest because they are responsible for the shutdown and everything that's happening to working families in this country. I did want to intro this with a quick video because we've got a special treat with Draco Malfoy interviewing Steve Scalise.
0:46:54 Matt: It's really, you got to see like the first 30 seconds of this because
0:46:54 Lydia: No. Yeah,
0:46:54 Thomas: Oh, I can't wait. Which forgot about. Is he still in Congress or no? Trey Gowdy. Yeah. He's
0:47:01 Matt: No, I think he's just doing this. I could be wrong, but it's looking dark.
0:47:03 Thomas: Just doing wizardry. God, he doesn't look good. Is he okay? Actually, neither of them look... Jesus, they're like the book it looks like you split one person's soul into two horrible beings. Yeah.
0:47:11 Matt: Arts man, right?
0:47:13 Lydia: Yeah, seriously. It's horcruxing. Yeah?
0:47:21 Thomas: Sorry to, to, I don't know, health shame, but then neither of these gentlemen is looking good. Okay. Let's see.
0:47:25 Lydia: Also, like, just Embrace the baldness, guys. Like, just embrace it and let the hair go. You barely have any
0:47:29 Matt: Uh,
0:47:26 Thomas: Oh yeah. That's it looks, it looks great. People, people who shave their heads. It's all right. There's a, there's a whole subreddit I see from time to time. That'S like the dudes that are like, Hey, finally decided to shave it. And they always look great.
0:47:32 Lydia: Yeah. Yeah. And it's always better. It's
0:47:43 Thomas: And people are like good decision.
0:47:43 Lydia: Always better than hanging on to the couple of hairs that you have. Yeah.
0:47:45 Thomas: Yeah, it's great.
0:47:46 Lydia: Yeah, I
0:47:47 Thomas: All right, here we go.
0:47:48 Clip: Joining us is House Majority Leader Steve Scalise. Welcome, leader. There is so much misinformation out there.
0:47:53 Thomas: Jeez. Geez, is he just way older than I thought? He looks terrible.
0:47:55 Clip: Help our viewers understand what Democrats, who, by the way, are in the minority, are insisting on to open government. Well, Trey, it's great to be with you. And, you know, you laid out what Chuck Schumer's fear is. It's the far left. It's the AOC wing of the party. And in fact, our polls showing AOC would would beat shuck schumer in a primary, and that seems to be all he cares about, his political future. He surely doesn't care about the lives of American families, our soldiers, our men and women in uniform who will not get paychecks next week because of this crazy move to shut down the government by first
0:48:18 Thomas: Please, God. Although I wanted to be president, but... Yeah,
0:48:18 Lydia: Know and
0:48:29 Thomas: And you guys care so much about the troops. You know, they care so much.
0:48:32 Matt: That's enough yeah we we set that up. Yeah
0:48:34 Thomas: They, you know, and it's why the people who went into the towers of 9-11 had to beg for healthcare for, you now, decades as fucking Republicans took it away and only Jon Stewart was the, yeah, like one of the, like, I'm not a huge fan of that guy, but that's the best thing he did and I really respect that he just advocated for those folks every time and time again. Or the fact that, you know, the veterans, you know, suicide rate and homelessness rate is super high. Republicans don't give a shit. They will never do anything about it. They don't care. You know, like it's just fucking stop crying about how we're harming the troops because they're missing a paycheck or whatever. It's like, OK, you could stop being stop being fascists and the government can open again. That's a solution.
0:48:35 Matt: Yeah yeah yeah uh
0:48:42 Lydia: Then bring Jon Stewart in to like yeah, to get them to listen. Yeah tirelessly yeah right
0:49:10 Matt: Bad news, Thomas. There's a lot more crying coming up in this piece, uh also though I just want to now
0:49:18 Thomas: OK, but we're not doing more of the video. We're on the we're on on the piece now?
0:49:22 Matt: The videos. Yeah I just wanted to give you a little introduction so you can see Steve these days and also to see how they introduce this, because the whole theme here of Democrats who are in the minority, which is the whole point, like they're not running the government, so this is this is desperate. This is so desperate.
0:49:32 Lydia: Yeah
0:49:22 Thomas: Okay. Yeah. Honestly, they should just get rid of the filibuster. I think that strong take, just do it. Just get rid OF it. Fuck it. It doesn't matter anymore. That will, it'll be better long-term. It'll be bad short -term for them to get rid Of the filabuster. It will actually be better Long -term if they just do that because they will own everything.
0:49:44 Matt: At this point, many.
0:49:45 Lydia: Well and and then. Yeah, exactly.
0:49:51 Thomas: And then when we get into power, if we ever do again, we can own everything and that's how it should work. The filibustering is a piece of shit that shouldn't exist. It's, it's an accident. Shouldn't exist let's let's get to the point where we actually, each side can own the things that happen. And then at least the voter can kind of make a more informed decision about like what each side wants to do. Just do it.
0:50:09 Lydia: Right. Yeah. There's more accountability. Yeah?
0:50:11 Thomas: Fuck it.
0:50:12 Lydia: Yeah. You want to pull up that article again, though, so I can read through some of this stuff for us. All right. Yes, this is from Steve Scalise's point of view, folks.
0:50:14 Thomas: Sure. Okay. This one, right?
0:50:24 Lydia: On Saturday, it's okay. On Saturday, millions of radical leftists will descend on Washington, D.C. for their
0:50:32 Thomas: Definitionally, how could there be millions of them?
0:50:35 Lydia: For their no -kings rally, or what many refer to as the hate -America rally.
0:50:40 Thomas: You know, they can't get the same side of their propaganda because this is, this is contrary to the other thing. Like, which is it? Are we totally useless normals normals who are just trying to, like, cover for the radicals, or are now we're the radicales
0:50:47 Matt: Harmless.
0:50:41 Lydia: Yeah. Unserious. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Congressional Democrats will be joined by the extreme leftists of their base with support from groups like the Communist Party USA, Indivisible, and MoveOn.
0:50:53 Thomas: Okay, geez.
0:51:02 Thomas: Indivisible
0:51:04 Matt: Those are synonymous. Those are all the same thing. Incredible.
0:51:05 Thomas: Okay. Yeah.
0:51:08 Lydia: Some of these groups have cheered on the government shutdown. Shutdown. Indivisible co -founder Ezra Levin said of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, he hasn't surrendered yet. I call that progress and we're cheering him on now. While these radical protesters are marching against President Donald Trump and calling him a dictator, millions of Americans across the country will be at home wondering how they can pay their rent and feed their families. Thanks to the Schumer shutdown.
0:51:30 Matt: The Schumer shutdown. It's not catching on, buddy.
0:51:32 Lydia: Crazy.
0:51:32 Thomas: We need to get back to when the government's not shut down and we're not doing anything about that anyway. What are you doing? What are doing about that? Millions of Americans across the country, they need to the government, it to be open and not helping them.
0:51:37 Lydia: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, exactly. And increasing their health care and taking it away and et cetera, et cetera. The government has been shut down for 18 days. Every day, Democrats have made it abundantly clear they care more about appeasing their socialist base than doing right by the American people.
0:52:02 Thomas: Fine. Die mad about it. I don't care. Cool. Do we have a socialist base? Awesome. I would love that. We don't, but I would love that if we did.
0:52:09 Lydia: Also, the whole point is them trying to do right bythe American people, right? Like trying to save things that are about to be stripped away. Yeah. Yeah. More than three weeks ago, House Republicans passed a clean, short term continuing resolution to keep the government open and ensure the federal government continues serving the American people. So far, congressional Democrats have voted 10 times against this measure. Sorry, I did that for folks who are listening. That was in all caps. And so I tried to emote
0:52:12 Thomas: I know. They're just, they're always trying to do right.
0:52:36 Thomas: Sounds like they don't agree with your agenda. Is that a mystery? Would it be different if it was eight times? They don't agree with it. You get, what?
0:52:37 Matt: Well conveyed.
0:52:44 Lydia: That. That. Yeah. Thus, shutting down the government and imposing suffering on hardworking Americans. At Saturday's rally, Democrats will be celebrating that, quote, every day gets better for us, as Schumer has said. But in reality, millions of Americans are suffering. Hundreds of thousands of federal employees are working unpaid or are furloughed. Federal law enforcement officers also won't be paid. As families' paychecks are put on hold, Americans are asking themselves difficult
0:52:44 Thomas: Okay. Oh no. Sorry. Oh, no. Federal law enforcement. Can we just take it all from them? Them, no more federal law enforcement pay ever, and pay everybody else? Sorry.
0:53:17 Lydia: Questions. Do I pay the bills or buy groceries? These are tough decisions Americans have to make, all because Chuck Schumer wanted to be able to show off at this rally.
0:53:27 Thomas: What would the government be being open do about that? What is the thing that that would be doing? I, I mean, if he's gonna say, "No, only the federal workers are who he's talking about," fine, but that's not what he's saying. He's saying, "As families' paychecks, Americans are asking themselves like," "That, no, that you're not, you don't do anything. They don't do anything for the bills of the groceries." If the government was open, you'd, you'd be doing the same nothing about that. Right.
0:53:46 Lydia: Right. Right, right. Yeah, if we're just talking about federal employees, that's one thing. But yeah, but trying to apply it to everybody.
0:54:00 Thomas: Yeah. Which is, you know, yeah, that does that. That is a tough part of it. Like, obviously, no one's in love with the fact that a lot of people are going to go unpaid. They had the chance to fix that every single time this comes up. They had a chance to just get rid of this stupid system. And we're to the point like I don't love the fact that this has to happen. I don't think anybody does. But it's the one thing that that the one lever of power power that the left doesn't even really have. But it's like the one disruptive thing Democrats can do right now because we haven't given Democrats power.
0:54:12 Lydia: Oh, yeah, they continue to have the chance to fix it. Yeah, Right.
0:54:34 Thomas: And all the left does is complain about how somebody do something, somebody do Something. Well, you didn't give anyone power to do anything by voting. You didn't. So they don't have the power to Do anything. Here's the closest we got.
0:54:34 Matt: And it is
0:54:42 Lydia: Here's the one thing that we get. Yeah.
0:54:44 Matt: For a good reason. I mean, this is a thing. This is a Fox News editorial. I wish that the elderly viewers of Fox News understood how much Medicaid they're about to lose if the Democrats don't win this one. I mean, that's what they're in it for. Massive Medicaid cuts. This is worth fighting for,
0:54:46 Lydia: Right. Yeah, well, and the thing is, too, that the Democratic Party is like, they've been very clear about what the what the issue is for them to vote yes on this continuing resolution, right? Like, okay, now GOP show up and actually have a conversation and come to an agreement like that's in your power, too. But you're not doing that. So I think that you're as much to blame as the Democrats for any of this, which I also don't think the Democrats are to blame. But while service members were paid on October 15th, thanks to President Trump, they continue to face uncertainty about their next paycheck. Veterans are unable to access key programs like funding for homeless veterans, services to help.
0:55:35 Thomas: By the way, sorry, I have to I don't think we're gonna get a chance to cover this. But that thing that he's talking about is insane. That is that it's something it's sort of like the tick tock thing where the president decided the law doesn't matter. And because people kind of wanted TikTok, they just decided to be like, yeah, okay, we'll give them this one. Speaking of no Kings.
0:55:40 Matt: Right? Yes, it's bad, right?
0:55:59 Thomas: Yeah.
0:55:57 Matt: And nobody doesn't want right?
0:55:59 Thomas: No one doesn't want the troops to be paid. So Trump did something massively unconstitutional to just take money from something to pay them, which is like, Yeah, I get it. But that's really bad. Like this, the precedent it sets is really bad.
0:55:55 Lydia: Right. Mm hmm.
0:56:00 Matt: So that's the problem.
0:56:12 Matt: It's dangerous. It's so dangerous.
0:56:14 Thomas: And we know we have a Supreme Court that will either not care or they'll fucking shadow docket it.
0:56:19 Lydia: Hand wave it away.
0:56:20 Thomas: And then if a Democrat ever does it, they'll be like, oh, well, now we're going to rule on the merits. And no, you can't do that. But it's really bad, dude.
0:56:20 Lydia: Yeah. Let's see the GI Bill hotline and some burial services. The shutdown also puts the Fox Grant program, which provides mental health support for thousands of veterans on the line. Yeah, I don't know. Farmers and ranchers who rely on critical U.S. Department of Agriculture programs can't access them. Thousands of entrepreneurs are unable to access loans through the Small Business Administration. Americans looking to buy new homes have had their closings canceled because the National Flood Insurance Program has lapsed.
0:56:52 Thomas: Fuck off. These are all things Republicans want to kill all the time.
0:56:57 Matt: These are socialist programs.
0:56:57 Lydia: Yeah.
0:56:59 Thomas: Yeah. What do you, oh yeah. Talk about our socialist base. Here's all, Democrats are just trying to appease their socialist base And look at the things we're losing by democracy, by the government being closed. We're losing all these socialist type things.
0:56:59 Matt: Yep. Every one of them. It'
0:57:12 Thomas: Like that's all they complain about. Oh, you're not able to get this. You're not able to get that. You know what they don't complain about? Hey, you're not able to get your lower taxes for corporations while the government's closed.
0:57:14 Matt: S incredible.
0:57:22 Thomas: You know? Hey, you're not able to get your more pollutants in the water. So we need to open up the government so you can get your more pollutant in the water. All the things, their actual agenda, are bad things. So when they're complaining that the government shut down, it's all they're complaining about: stuff that Democrats support and do. And they're like, "Look, you can't get these things the Democrats gave you." It's amazing.
0:57:12 Lydia: Yeah, yeah,
0:57:41 Matt: These radical socialists are keeping you from your sweet government money. Yeah, yeah.
0:57:41 Thomas: Yeah. Whereas we Republicans want to give you that money.
0:57:46 Lydia: Yeah. Yep.
0:57:46 Matt: Oh, of course.
0:57:49 Thomas: Definitely.
0:57:49 Matt: What?
0:57:49 Lydia: Yep.
0:57:50 Thomas: Yeah, just open up government. We'll get, we'll be, you'll get huge check from us, fucking
0:57:52 Lydia: We'll give you all the money. Travelers across the country are dealing with significant delays due to the lack of air traffic controllers. That's been an issue for a long time.
0:58:03 Thomas: Reagan fired all of them. Yeah, who
0:58:05 Lydia: Yeah. Helplines at the Internal Revenue Service have been essentially closed. Also, I think that's something that's been happening for a while.
0:58:12 Matt: Yeah. Their favorite agency. Yeah.
0:58:12 Lydia: Yeah.
0:58:12 Thomas: Gutted the IRS. The Republicans They fucking gutted them. Yeah.
0:58:14 Matt: Of course. Yeah. Yeah.
0:58:16 Lydia: Our national security is jeopardized. Acquisitions of critical capabilities are delayed and ongoing intelligence hindered, impeding our ability to equip our troops and prepare for future threats. Millions of families in need may soon lose access to programs like WIC and SNAP that help... Oh, you mean the programs that you want to, like, literally put on the chopping block?
0:58:31 Thomas: Oh, yeah. Oh, no. We need the Republicans to save us by enabling the programs that they hate and are trying to kill all the time.
0:58:38 Lydia: They're literally defunding.
0:58:40 Thomas: Just fucking joke. You have no sense of irony.
0:58:41 Lydia: Yeah. Bring back the government so we can finish defundding these programs. That's really what it is.
0:58:45 Thomas: Yeah, it really is what it is. It's like, hey, Americans are struggling to pay their health care because the government's closed. If you open it, we're going to make that bill higher. So you need to open it?
0:58:54 Lydia: Yeah. So open it so wecan finish doing this and get our paychecks from whatever, yeah.
0:58:56 Thomas: Hmm. Yeah.
0:58:57 Matt: It's real shame we didn't keep Elon Musk around so he could just finish these programs off himself, but here we are, public
0:59:04 Thomas: It's unbelievable.
0:59:06 Lydia: Housing programs may be jeopardized by HUD limiting their services. That's also happening already.
0:59:06 Thomas: Oh yeah. And you're so, you're so sad about that. I bet Republicans. Yeah, yeah.
0:59:12 Matt: Housing the
0:59:14 Lydia: So all this needless suffering because Chuck Schumer is more afraid of the radical leftists in his own party than he is concerned about making sure American families don't have to wonder about whether they're going to be able to put food on the table. It's shameful. Make no mistake, every time Democrats vote against the clean CR, they are voting against paying our service members, law enforcement and federal workers, funding critical programs for our veterans, women and children, ending nationwide flight delays and serving the American people. This weekend, I hope each and every person attending a hate America rally is confronted with the reality that while they're celebrating Democrats shutdown, I don't think anyone's celebrating that, promising themselves it will pay off politically. They're actually cheering on the real and painful suffering of millions of American families. It's time to end this madness and vote to open the government.
0:59:47 Thomas: Oh, that's nobody.
1:00:04 Matt: Government we all love so much here
1:00:04 Thomas: Once again, I ask you to please keep your stupid imaginary premises straight. How could you say it's just a thing that's going to pay off politically if millions of people are cheering it? That's like two different things. Like you're trying to say, "Oh, Chuck Schumer just cares about it paying off politically and doesn't actually care about the people." But then you're also saying then the people are like excited that it's paying off political no, the people are saying they want it. If they're cheering it, that's not just, like, politically, that's what they want, you know? Like that's substantive.
1:00:10 Lydia: Yeah. Mm hmm.
1:00:32 Thomas: Yeah.
1:00:31 Lydia: Then they are being representative. Yeah.
1:00:33 Thomas: Exactly. It's like, anyway, um, there is no hate America were there hate America rallies? I mean, I'm, I'm not close to the idea, but I don't think there were any. Well,
1:00:40 Lydia: Yeah, I mean, we'll get some video footage of what these hate America rallies look like pretty soon. But I don't want to jump the gun if anyone had thoughts on this stuff.
1:00:47 Thomas: We are yeah, we are out of time, so we better get to that then, because this is, this is a real, I mean, if we could summarize this in one sentence, it's, "Hey, please open back up the government because all these things that we desperately hate and try to get rid of are good, actually."
1:00:50 Lydia: All right.
1:01:03 Lydia: Yeah?
1:01:03 Thomas: That's this Republican article in a nutshell.
1:01:06 Lydia: Yep.
1:01:07 Thomas: Cool.
1:01:07 Matt: We are dessert.
1:01:09 Lydia: Well done, Scalise. Okay, why don't you pull up that YouTube video?
1:01:13 Thomas: We got a special, what's the opposite of an amuse douche? Oh, no, no. We gotta, we, what's
1:01:18 Lydia: Oh, no, we tried this last time.
1:01:18 Matt: I'm Just gonna have dessert now. A
1:01:21 Lydia: Which we tried this last time
1:01:21 Thomas: That? Well, we're out out of time. So we're, we need to skip to the Jenessa thing. Yeah. This, whatever the most direct opposite of an amuse douche. Uh, uh, uh. So it's like a closing amazing thing.
1:01:23 Lydia: Oh okay okay Um, okay, uh, yeah, so I
1:01:37 Thomas: What would you call that?
1:01:37 Lydia: Think we tried this last week and we couldn't come up with a name.
1:01:39 Thomas: Oh, we couldn't know. Well, we tried to think of an Amuse douiche, but that's later. So like a later douche, but this, yeah, yeah. This is yet another different thing, which is a great thing that's coming late. So what do we call that?" I don't Know, somebody give us a, a nomination for names.
1:01:40 Lydia: Oh, Right, uh,
1:01:44 Matt: Digestive, yeah. Special.
1:01:52 Lydia: Comped. Bill.
1:01:55 Thomas: Yeah. This is just dessert.
1:01:55 Lydia: I don't have to pay
1:01:58 Thomas: Just a Just a fine, delicious port with a, with a, with a, you know, amazing dessert, um, Why don't you introduce this for us all?
1:01:58 Lydia: For it. Yeah. Yeah, okay. So Um, our very own Jenessa Seymour, who you can catch on OA Mondays and Fridays, went to her local No Kings rally and did a handful of interviews. There's a lot of good things there, we'll probably do some stuff with later, but today just wanted to highlight the very first interview that she did at that rally, which is her dad, and it's so sweet. And so we're going to show everybody what he had to say about what brought him to the rally.
1:02:36 Thomas: Right. I haven't seen this yet. I'm excited. Ah.
1:02:38 Lydia: Do your dad first.
1:02:39 Clip: Interview of the day is my dad. Dad, what brings you out today? We're here protesting because this is out of control. We sit there, they break laws and they suppress people. This is about our own rights and our right to protest right here. Nice. If you had any message for people who are losing hope, what would you say? Give it time. Wheels grind real slow, but it's gonna happen. Nice.
1:03:03 Lydia: Yeah. Isn't that sweet? Yeah. Loved it.
1:03:04 Thomas: That's great. That's so Nice.
1:03:06 Matt: Correspondent Jenessa Seymour, everybody. And Mr. Seymour, catch
1:03:08 Lydia: Yeah,
1:03:07 Thomas: And there's a bunch more she did that, that we're, we're excited to do something with, but just wanted to show that fantastic one to close this out. 'Cause yeah, that was a radical Antifa frog super soldier, Jenessa's dad, everybody. That was right after the, she cut, he killed, he took a Republican, sliced the throat, you know, kick the body down into the, yeah, it was right after that camera cut.
1:03:09 Lydia: Yeah, yeah. Yeah yeah. Carried the head with him for the rest of the rally. Yeah Yeah.
1:03:34 Thomas: All right. Well, this has been another fun episode of opening arguments on YouTube and on podcasts combined. Thanks so much for watching and or listening everybody. We love you and we'll see you very soon.
1:03:45 Lydia: Except
1:03:45 Matt: On the antifa group chat always
1:03:47 Lydia: Thomas.
1:03:50 Thomas: Yeah I'm just I'm just too square no one's invited me all right
