0:00:41 Thomas: Hello and welcome to Where There's Woke. This is episode six, and if you are a patron at patreon.com/wherethereswoke, you already know that we're going to do a few one-offs to, you know, recharge the batteries after that monumental research task. But but we've a lot irons-in-the-fire research-wise as well, and I'm sure we won't be able to resist getting back to deep research, but holy shit this is so much fun because, because not only am I joined by the beautiful, wonderful, amazing Lydia Smith, I've also got my brother Sam here from past podcasts such as Comedy Shoeshine, which doesn't really exist anymore, but it's never fully dead, it's only mostly dead, are going to dissect a a very serious issue, which is the woke are coming for your pizza ovens.
0:01:31 Thomas: Enough of all that, let's get to our illustrious panel up here, answer all our policy questions, is my brother, Sam. How you doin', Sam? Hope You boned up on all your pizza policy, uh?
0:01:39 Sam: Great. Thanks for having me. Yeah. I ate all the pizza last night, too. I don't know if that helps.
0:01:44 Thomas: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, it couldn't hurt. Of course, my amazing wife Lydia Smith, how are you doing?
0:01:52 Lydia: Yeah. Pretty good. I actually did eat pizza last night because I said it was research for this. So yeah.
0:01:55 Thomas: Yeah. Yeah. So?
0:01:58 Sam: Yeah. Well, you have to. They're gonna get rid of all of it. Oh, sorry.
0:01:58 Thomas: We're all It's gonna be gone, we Ate our last pizza last night.
0:02:02 Lydia: Spoiler alert.
0:02:02 Sam: Yeah. Yeah.
0:02:05 Thomas: Had a little ritual because guess what, everyone, the woke are coming for your pizza ovens, that's the latest thing. One of the things I can do for this show is just type in "the woke r taking your" or whatever, and then, like, Let Google finish. Finish it, "the woke are coming for," and then it's a million things, but Lydia found this video and this is, this was one of those things where Lydia's like, "Oh, like, what, what about this," and I watch it for two seconds, I'm like, this is the best Fucking thing in world, that's it, you found it. So we're gonna break down this very critical, scary issue of the woke taking our pizza ovens. Sam, from previous, previous podcasts called Comedy Shoeshine, that it's never really dead, but it's on hiatus for now. Fun So to get you on this one so that we can at least, you know, we haven't talked since the last recording. We only talk when we do.
0:02:18 Sam: Yeah.
0:02:19 Lydia: Yeah, it's
0:02:45 Sam: No. Yeah. How are
0:02:52 Lydia: Been almost a year.
0:02:52 Thomas: Yeah.
0:02:52 Sam: You guys? Do you have any kids or anything?
0:02:53 Thomas: Yeah, we got like three kids. God, yeah. We can do a little catch up. What's going on in your life? All. So I'm going to hit play on this video, this very reasonable video, and we'll see where it goes. This is the best I
0:02:56 Sam: Wow!
0:03:07 Clip: We have the most violent, raging crime rate ever, We are being invaded by illegal immigrants, Who are being treated way better than our homeless veterans, Our city schools produce
0:03:17 Thomas: Better read the thing, it says, "Coal Oven Rule Outrages Pie-Throwing Protester," and this is, and Here's the best thing about this, is like, this isn't a YouTube link of like, oh look at these idiots on Fox News, this is Fox News's own link, you know, like their own channel, rather, and it says like NY Pizza Owners Explode in All Caps Over New Climate Crackdown. It's like, do they know, are they in on it, I don't know. Anyway, let's, let's hear what this very, this reasonable man has to say.
0:03:24 Lydia: Yeah
0:03:35 Sam: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The
0:03:45 Lydia: This fellow has to say.
0:03:46 Sam: Guy never exploded. I wanted to see him explode.
0:03:48 Lydia: Oh
0:03:46 Thomas: Yeah. Yeah, well, maybe at the end, we'll see.
0:03:50 Clip: Who run New York City, Are afraid of pizza? This is the New York pizza party! Give us pizza or give us death! Give us pizza or give us death.
0:04:06 Thomas: And he's just throwing pieces of pizza over at
0:04:08 Sam: Yeah.
0:04:09 Clip: Here you go.
0:04:10 Thomas: City Hall or something.
0:04:11 Clip: It's not delivery. It is a protest. A conservative artist tosses pizza at New York City Town Hall in response to a coal-fired...
0:04:10 Sam: That's... A conservative artist.
0:04:17 Clip: ...day
0:04:17 Thomas: Yeah, did he say artist?
0:04:18 Lydia: My God. Yeah yeah. I have So stuff for you guys on that.
0:04:19 Sam: Yes.
0:04:21 Thomas: Yeah, this guy's allegedly an artist and I know nothing about that, so So his
0:04:23 Sam: Yeah.
0:04:25 Lydia: He certainly is. So his name is Scott Lobato. He's an activist and artist. And let me go ahead and share with you guys website.
0:04:37 Thomas: Resume and headshot.
0:04:39 Lydia: No, it's even better. So So this guy is known for his flags all
0:04:42 Thomas: Oh, my God. Wait a minute, it, this is awesome, what a
0:04:48 Lydia: You keep scrolling down so this is his website, all of his original art. He is known to be a painting flags in a variety of ways, different styles, abstract. Forces Joined is one of these where it's the Canadian flag and the United States flag together. I don't know if he did that because of the fire. I'm not sure.
0:05:08 Thomas: Big hockey player, I don't know, yeah
0:05:12 Sam: Yeah. And then a freaking dear bust through one of him.
0:05:14 Thomas: Yeah yeah
0:05:12 Lydia: Yeah. And then, yeah, American Buck for $4,500 you could purchase, and then
0:05:18 Thomas: It's like that, old, I don't have, that's an old, like, comedy bit where you take the picture off the wall and then you hit the guy in the head with it, you know, it's it's a a deer, deer burst in while he was making one of them, he's like, oh shit bonk, and then he's like, it's art actually, let's keep it, and the deer's like, yeah, okay no, I'll stay, yeah okay cool, me, I'll be, how long
0:05:28 Sam: The deer's like, like, hey, you gotta eat deer food yeah stay right there yeah don't move yeah
0:05:42 Lydia: Besides flags, his other favorite thing to draw
0:05:45 Thomas: Maybe you're trying to save his image, but you haven't told us about the pricing, I think he really should have added in
0:05:49 Lydia: Yeah that's true yeah, yeah, everything's, you know, like five grand, forty five hundred, three thousand, yeah um
0:05:49 Sam: My God, yeah
0:05:49 Thomas: Yeah the most important thing to me about that is not, yeah, they're all way too much, five thousand, whatever, or to the, me, I love the differences in pricing. Like I love how he's judging, like, okay, this one is like $4,500 worth of art. This one over here, that's $6,000. That's a, solid, that one's called UT 504, whatever that is. He's that's just $1,500 better of art. That's how good that is? I wonder if anyone's ever bought a single one of these is what I want want to know, oh
0:06:02 Sam: Yeah dude there's a 24,000 one, focus
0:06:24 Thomas: Wow
0:06:21 Lydia: Well Well, whoa, wait, 24,000. I missed that. Oh, focus.
0:06:27 Sam: Yeah
0:06:25 Thomas: Yeah ten thousand, it also could be based on the sizing and the framing too, like they're getting bigger yeah so that's so, it's, I mean, it's practically free yeah we gotta, we can't afford not to buy it all, right, I'm, I'm doing it, no way, that's I'm so surprised
0:06:45 Sam: With
0:06:31 Lydia: I was going to say that one has a frame. So that's like 18 grand. Yeah. All right. So then besides flags, he also loves to paint Donald Trump. Oh, yeah. So he is the artist behind POTUS 45, where it's Donald Trump, you know, totally jacked.
0:06:53 Thomas: This is not like the main one that painted like the football player Trump and all that. This is a different guy.
0:06:59 Lydia: That, yeah, this is the guy who, um, I mean, Trump loves him because he yeah he, I mean, he, he gives his paintings to, like, there's a picture of Eric Trump holding one of them. I think Trump signed, you yeah.
0:07:03 Thomas: You don't say. The closest Eric Trump has gotten to Donald Trump.
0:07:16 Lydia: And then he had, like a big installation he did for a neighbor on Staten Island that was like pro-Trump and someone set it on fire. That was kind of a big news story.
0:07:25 Thomas: Don't, you don't need to do that though. You know, like we can call out our side. Don't you don'T need to burn these. These are so dumb that I, I think it's better if they exist actually.
0:07:30 Sam: I
0:07:30 Lydia: Don't bother. But it is interesting that it's like all these prints, I guess, because they're not paintings, they're, you 40 bucks yeah
0:07:39 Thomas: Oh, is there a price wars between who's the Walmart of homoerotic Trump paintings and who's like you know, niche, like expensive kind.
0:07:46 Lydia: It looks like John McNaughton, that's 705 bucks for that football painting
0:07:50 Thomas: Yeah. That'S a way better value you. Then I have those added to my cart, but I don't think I'm going to click buy. Cause like, yeah, like this is some, no.
0:07:54 Lydia: Yeah Yeah.
0:07:56 Sam: Don't don't hit checkout, I
0:07:58 Thomas: Okay. If anyone sees a good, like, you know, online coupon for you, cause these flag ones from this asshole are just, I mean, all right. It's red, white, and blue and different fucking comedy. The other one is truly just his vision of the distortion of how he sees Trump is like genuine art. Like, Like, I don't know how he does it. It's amazing
0:07:58 Sam: Yeah there's better options yeah well I actually thought it would be worse, like, these aren't like awful bad, I mean, they're not four thousand dollars, but I love when just, the perfect, like, boomery thing is that his site says please contact patriotic artist at gmail.com, he, he has a domain, it's you, you just do like Scott at it just looks so lame
0:08:19 Thomas: Yeah, yeah,
0:08:31 Lydia: He
0:08:34 Thomas: How I have Thomas at seriouspod.com or where there's woke.com. And he says like, contact geo cities dot hotmail.
0:08:36 Sam: Yeah it doesn't really matter, but it's always funny to me that they don't just do the easy thing that looks professional, like, I have my own website and this is my email for the website that came with the website like
0:08:46 Thomas: Yeah, you know, that's the best. Yeah. And the website's not like, honestly that bad. Like there's way more boomer websites or I guess by this time he's probably like Jen fucking X, huh? He's not that old,
0:09:01 Sam: Oh
0:09:03 Lydia: Said he's been an activist for 30 years, so he's at least 30 what's also interesting about him, you know, activist, so, so some of the other things far less funny than this pizza excursion that he went on. He protested drag story hour at the Staten Island Children's Museum. They did it anyway because they didn't care. And then he's also behind, like, one of the most viral Target pride rampages.
0:09:08 Sam: That's good math
0:09:30 Thomas: Oh man. Is that cool? Maybe we need to actually watch that. Cause Do that's the funniest, I almost would do an episode on that, it's so fucking ridiculous though, right? So yeah, Lydia is really getting us into the bios of these folks to really know what we're dealing with, which I appreciate. Shit, here, let's hear this pride rant. Is he also throwing pizza at the time, that's his whole thing is he's been throwing pizza this whole time, he's like, fucking finally, it makes sense. In this particular one
0:09:32 Lydia: Yeah, sure. Yeah.
0:09:44 Sam: Yeah
0:09:48 Clip: Weekend. Where is the display supporting and showing homage to a men and women and a military? There is nothing. There is a couple of little made-in-China patriotic pieces of shit here. Where's that last week was cop week, did we put a display up support supporting our police, no, we didn't target
0:09:59 Sam: What
0:10:08 Thomas: He's just in target Copley he's
0:10:08 Lydia: Cop week
0:10:17 Sam: Would they sell, like batons and stuff? Like, how would that even work? They're not selling police gear.
0:10:21 Lydia: Yeah
0:10:18 Thomas: Yeah yeah they hand out free guns to children but other than that they haven't done done much. You're right. Yeah, this is just a guy yelling in a target. I love that. That's what's become of conservatism. Just so people know, they're not watching, there's not an employee near him. Like he's not, there's not the manager. Like he's just in the middle of a target yelling at target. Like, does he think the building itself is like sentient? And if he yells it in it, then it'll register his complaints.
0:10:24 Sam: Yeah.
0:10:26 Lydia: Yeah
0:10:50 Sam: It's just his stage for his social media. I
0:10:50 Lydia: It's his soliloquy yeah
0:10:52 Thomas: Yeah, Yeah. All the targets are staged and we are merely.
0:10:56 Clip: In November, did we get the uh veterans display that says proud to be a veteran? No, we do not. Is there anything I can help you with? Yeah, I'm uh, I don't need to scream I'm so sorry, I'm sorry, I just talk loud.
0:10:57 Sam: You have to do it. Oh, they're not SELLING veteran clothing for kids.
0:11:08 Clip: Yeah, I hope that corporate is watching this, because this is bullshit. No problem with the pride section, take the kids out of it. That's what you have to do, get rid of the kids shit, that doesn't belong in here. You cater to four zero point one percent, and 99 percent of us buy this shit in this store, but that's coming to an end. Corporate better change their ways. You're gonna go down like Budweiser.
0:11:09 Sam: No one would buy it.
0:11:35 Lydia: Yeah,
0:11:44 Sam: Smooth and crispy?
0:11:46 Thomas: I'm leaving a bad
0:11:47 Clip: That's all right, you want to call the cops? This.
0:11:47 Thomas: Yelp review. I don't know. This customer is never. Yeah, God, it's so good. I hope this is I actually really hope these people are just brilliant comedians doing a fake thing. I always root for that. Like I want I you know, I don'T when he'll do his reveal, but at some point you just be like, you guys actually bought fucking the same painting of a flag for $6,000. That's how dumb you fucking idiots are. I've made a killing on you, but they never do. Unfortunately.
0:12:12 Sam: The tweet caption is, "Share the fuck out of this," and he can't put a C for some reason Share the fook out of this, get the foo to Target," and speak up or the last, I like how he leaves the last option of, or shut the fuck up, to be like, okay, I'm gonna, I will choose the shut the fucking up part choice. Yeah, have no right to complain about this unless you share my video where I rant about nothing.
0:12:15 Lydia: It's F-U-K, so
0:12:15 Thomas: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's what I wonder is like, is there a bunch of there's so many conservatives who are like they're complaining, but they're not getting in there and yelling at a target security guard who makes minimum wage. And that's the real change that he wants to see in the world.
0:12:39 Sam: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
0:12:45 Lydia: He has all of this activism in quotes, right, that he participates in, and there's also a documentary being made about him, but Yeah. By No, by a conservative filmmaker maker called Chris Martini.
0:12:58 Sam: Yeah.
0:12:55 Thomas: Wow. By his mom. All right, write that down. We're going to need that fucking get every one of those videos. This is.
0:13:04 Lydia: Have the trailer. It's not out yet. I've been looking for it. But he says, you know, sign up here. And when it comes out, you'll be the first to know. And I've been tempted to do it, but can't quite like stomach it. Yeah.
0:13:06 Thomas: Oh, nice.
0:13:15 Thomas: Get on the get on the list server, whatever the fuck. Fuck it on the, add a Scott Baio at Gmail, hotmail, geocities to your white list. And then you'll get, but yeah, write that guy down for like other stuff. You know, the best thing about, yeah.
0:13:18 Lydia: Yeah, I don't want to get his newsletters. Oh,
0:13:26 Sam: Check your spam folders.
0:13:31 Lydia: Chris Martini, yeah, yep.
0:13:32 Thomas: Being early in this show is like within the, one episode, we have 400 things to follow up on. Cause it's just a network of, it's, it'S complete grifters, but they're the least talented grifter, which is the best. I
0:13:33 Lydia: It's
0:13:53 Clip: Is a street performance. It seems like all the artist activists are on the left, except for Scott Lobato, they do not conform to the elitist isms of the, and they have nothing like a violent
0:14:05 Thomas: I also don't know how to do art in any way, but I figure, oh man, that is awesome.
0:14:11 Sam: I got paint and a brush, so.
0:14:14 Lydia: And I know, the flag, like
0:14:16 Thomas: A lot of his protests for that one involved like putting red paint on the pavement like it's a, like, you know, it's blood.
0:14:16 Sam: Yeah yeah.
0:14:21 Lydia: It's blood everywhere.
0:14:22 Thomas: And I like to think he just stopped it. He's like, all right, I'll get some red paint and some blue paint and some white paint. And that's it. That's his whole, I would picture his studio is just gallons of literally three colors. I go to He's not going to buy any of the gay colors of paint, but he's going to buy the red, white, and blue.
0:14:34 Sam: I
0:14:22 Lydia: Yeah, oh, yeah, no way, yeah, So I'm looking forward to that documentary coming out.
0:14:40 Thomas: Yeah, for sure. Oh, I will be first in line at the theater. I will first to buy tickets at the theatre that it's going to definitely be in. Well,
0:14:41 Lydia: Yep. Yep, yeah. So this is the guy behind the the the pizza protest. Oh, I
0:14:52 Thomas: What I love about this is, I had zero thoughts on this guy, really, except that I liked him because it's only the first 30 seconds of the video we're talking about. I, we've already got so much just on this pizza throwing guy, and we haven't even gotten to the main character of our story today.
0:15:05 Lydia: Know.
0:15:05 Sam: Have to say that I thought, I didn't do any research on the guy.
0:15:09 Thomas: Me too, yeah.
0:15:10 Lydia: Well, the way that they frame the headline is that, you know, pizza owners explode over it. And what you see is someone throwing pizza. You're going to assume that's a pizza owner, but it's just some guy who paints flags.
0:15:19 Thomas: Well, I'm going to assume it's
0:15:21 Lydia: Bags.
0:15:21 Thomas: A Ninja Turtle, but yeah, or a pizza owner.
0:15:23 Sam: I The lies are he's not a pizza owner and he didn't explode. It's all lies.
0:15:26 Lydia: Yeah, all
0:15:24 Thomas: Yeah. And we're here to track down these, like, write them down, write down, two lies, didn't explode, not a pizza owner, or a Ninja Turtle. Those are the only people who should be throwing slices of pizza. Oh, there's only one, of, wow, this is big news, are you telling me only one of them throws pizza?
0:15:28 Lydia: Lies. Yep.
0:15:40 Sam: Well, just one, Michelangelo. I remember Michelangela
0:15:48 Thomas: Put that
0:15:48 Sam: Throwing pizza, but I don't remember the other guys throwing it.
0:15:50 Thomas: On the whiteboard for research.
0:15:51 Lydia: Yeah.
0:15:53 Sam: If you could find one clip of Rafael Donatello or Leonardo throwing pizza. Yeah, I'll eat my pizza.
0:15:57 Thomas: I'll eat my fat, yeah, I'll eat
0:16:02 Sam: So please find it.
0:16:02 Thomas: My shell. Yeah.
0:16:04 Sam: I just love the, like, give me pizza or give me death, but he's throwing the pizza away doesn't make any sense.
0:16:09 Thomas: I'm getting mixed messages From
0:16:11 Sam: So death, yeah.
0:16:11 Thomas: That, I'll give you pizza, you, oh shit, I should have figured out how this metaphor works.
0:16:17 Sam: Yeah.
0:16:19 Lydia: Yeah and I will say, you know, doing a little more research on this guy, he did get a summons from the police for this basically was like, that's fine because I love the police. I don't blame them.
0:16:19 Thomas: Yeah,
0:16:31 Sam: Yeah,
0:16:32 Thomas: Just want to go coddle them, you know, just go, hey guys, right, now, so that we know who we're dealing with. Now that we have the backstory, like it's an episode of Lost, you know, and we saw his, we found out how he got on Idiot Island. And so now let's, let's hear him again, let's see this performance.
0:16:33 Lydia: Yeah.
0:16:35 Sam: Yeah. Yeah,
0:16:49 Clip: Raging crime rate ever, we are being invaded by illegal immigrants who are being treated way better than our homeless veterans, city
0:16:56 Thomas: Yeah, and that's important because if I know conservatives, they're really into providing, providing benefits to the homeless. They like, we definitely want all our money together. I, I think what they're saying is, though, is that as soon as we get rid of every single immigrant, as soon as we expel all immigrants from the land, then we'll have like a few nickels left over to help a homeless veteran, like one of them, yeah.
0:17:02 Lydia: Yeah, well,
0:17:03 Sam: His
0:17:18 Lydia: Yeah. And they only care about about veterans that are homeless and nobody else that's experiencing, you know, houselessness or whatever, if they're not veterans.
0:17:25 Sam: Whole rant, if I were a pizza shop owner, I, I would be like, dude, just do, dude, talk about the pizza. It's really confusing. It's just a bunch of his gripes. It's like, the Yankees aren't playing well, the Mets aren't play well, none of the new Star Wars movies have been good.
0:17:44 Sam: It's a bunch of random complaints. And then he throws a pizza.
0:17:42 Thomas: So It's yeah, I don't think Princess Leia would have survived in space for that long.
0:17:49 Sam: Yeah. You're just Peter.
0:17:54 Thomas: Peter from Family Guy.
0:17:54 Sam: It sounds exactly Like Peter. He should be, let me tell him how to do this, he has the pizza and he goes on a rant about how this was cooked in like a disgusting wood fire delicious oven, and like, every bite he's going, well, you know, making all these noises, and then he has like another pizza that's not that, and he, then he throws that like
0:18:12 Thomas: No, the other pizza should just be raw dough with the toppings on it. It's just like, this is what it'll be.
0:18:17 Sam: Okay, it wasn't even, even cooked, yeah.
0:18:19 Thomas: This is, what, the dog, we put this in the newfangled woke ovens for four hours and this is what it looks like, and it's just dough that, we could do that. Why don't we just make a billion dollars on these people? Like, seriously, every day I think, why don't we just pretend to be Trumpers and make a million dollars instantly. It'd be so easy. I've thought that for seven, eight years, whenever this started, it's like, oh, and that's what a lot of them are doing. Like a bunch of these, not this guy, maybe, I don't know who knows, but like a bunch of them really are, that they're just like, oh my God, I can make a billion dollars on these fucking idiots, all you have to do is kiss Trump's ass in some way and they'll be like, I want to buy all your stuff.
0:18:20 Sam: Yeah. I,
0:18:57 Lydia: Is that why there's a lot of red, white and blue paint in the garage? Something you need to tell me.
0:19:00 Thomas: No, I'm painting one of the French flat, they're all have those colors.
0:19:08 Lydia: Yeah, that's
0:19:07 Sam: Told me, you were making a Harlem Globetrotters court in your garage, I think, is what you said, yeah.
0:19:08 Lydia: True. Oh,
0:19:10 Thomas: Yeah, Yeah, no, I am doing that, that is actually but don't worry, that's what I'm doing.
0:19:14 Sam: We're gonna do all those tricks, I've been doing the spinny finger thing and the octopus dribble, and was that for nothing? I yeah,
0:19:18 Thomas: No I just hadn't told, I had to tell, look, I'm in the midst of a web of lies, I couldn't tell Lydia about the club trouters court, but so I told her that I'm doing, um, I
0:19:30 Sam: I, yeah,
0:19:33 Clip: Schools produce the dumbest kids who
0:19:36 Sam: Yeah,
0:19:36 Thomas: Love that, I talked to my kid the other day and he was so fucking stupid, he didn't even understand what I telling was him, and
0:19:41 Sam: What
0:19:44 Clip: Run. New York City are
0:19:44 Sam: Yeah,
0:19:46 Thomas: He says New York shitty, by the way, of course, and the I love the the subtitles, don't say that, they're like, I must just be city.
0:19:50 Lydia: My God. I
0:19:53 Sam: No, wait,
0:19:53 Clip: Afraid of pizza, this is the New York Pizza Party, give us pizza or give us death, give us, here, you,
0:20:00 Thomas: Oh,
0:20:05 Sam: This is the New York Pizza Part, like, he's having a pizza party. Or it's a new party.
0:20:08 Thomas: Shit, did
0:20:09 Lydia: Think it's supposed to be like the Boston Tea Party, right? I
0:20:09 Thomas: We miss it yeah,
0:20:10 Sam: Oh, I, see New York Pizza party.
0:20:12 Thomas: Yeah, oh, okay, wow, hon, you really decoded
0:20:16 Lydia: Understand how they think now. It's really frightening.
0:20:19 Sam: Okay.
0:20:17 Thomas: That, yeah, okay, this guy's a creative genius, never mind, so it's like when they spilled the tea in the harbor, they weren't saying this tea sucks, they, they were just, were like, how dare you? I mean, it doesn't really work though, does it?
0:20:28 Sam: Yeah.
0:20:36 Thomas: There's like a bit, that was a lot of tea. Like, I think that was like a major, that is like a, back then that was like a year's worth of tea for the whole world, I think. And this is like
0:20:44 Lydia: Yeah, this is
0:20:45 Sam: Yeah, they just didn't want to pay taxes on it.
0:20:45 Lydia: One pie.
0:20:46 Thomas: Seven pieces. He actually doesn't even throw all the pieces. Cause he's like, I'm going to save these two for my lunch.
0:20:50 Sam: Yeah it's...
0:20:52 Thomas: Cause it's I'm out here and it's been a while, but I'm throwing all the other pieces.
0:20:52 Lydia: It's kind of hungry.
0:20:56 Sam: It's very gentle, too, the way he tosses the pizza over. I would have done it more, like, mad. It's like a frisbee.
0:21:01 Thomas: That's, that's a very good point. Yeah. So that's what I was going to say. Do you, what is the proper throwing, technique or like what, you know what I mean? What, what does the, um, context of throwing a pizza?
0:21:11 Sam: Yeah. You have to splat it, don't you? Like, down on the ground. But, I mean, it has to go over that fence.
0:21:16 Lydia: Make a mess. Yeah.
0:21:18 Sam: Nah, I would splat it.
0:21:15 Thomas: Okay. Yeah. Well, okay. Whenever you're going to throw, this isn't, buckle up. We're goingto talk sports for about an hour here. Whenever you'RE to THROW anything, like any object, like a non-normal normal object. There's a calculation that goes on in your mind of what is this thing like, you know? So like, exactly the weight of it, the shape of it. And so like, if you have, oh, this is more like a football and I'm talking just random objects, you know, like a fucking, a cup or something, you just weigh in. If it's bigger, you're probably throwing it, you a basketball more, maybe doing a chess pass. But this is, so pizza, in my mind, I would go to Frisbee, like you said, Sam, I'd be like, all right, clearly you want to get some some spin on it, you know, that, that'll help it carry.
0:21:25 Lydia: Okay.
0:21:34 Sam: Yeah, the weight of it and stuff. Yeah. Yeah yeah yeah yeah.
0:21:59 Sam: Well, yeah, because the point is, you could do all kinds of things with your arm, but if you're not holding it right, it doesn't go anywhere. Like, you can do the biggest throw and then the cup goes like an inch and you just look like an idiot.
0:22:04 Thomas: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, exactly. This guy. You He doesn't want to look like an idiot here. Okay. He's good. We're doing a real, yeah. So I think he missed a real opportunity by not frisbeeing it. And I wonder, would the toppings then separate, you Know, like if you're frisbeeing one piece and that maybe you want, that's like shrapnel, you KNOW, like you're okay.
0:22:10 Lydia: Right.
0:22:12 Sam: Yeah... yeah. Yeah I would Do, yeah, I would do because my thought is the pizza slice is flat on your hand, that's how you really get a lot of the airy to throw it hard, so you do like almost like a basketball, you run up and dunk it over the fence like straight down because then you get the sauce splattering, you know, when you're just coasting it like a, you're throwing it like Frisbee, it just gently land like it flies through the air, gently lands, it's not protest-y enough
0:22:45 Lydia: Yeah?
0:22:40 Thomas: Okay, I like that. Yeah, that's true. Yeah. If I'm, if I were throwing like a Frisbee, I'm trying to lead the receiver and like actually pick a mark, you know, like I'm Trying to get it somewhere. Like if you're trying to get in the mail slot of city hall or something, maybe it's only thing now I'm with you or you get the guy.
0:22:52 Sam: Yeah yeah that would be good that would would be awesome
0:23:06 Thomas: Yeah then we'd be on his side actually. Yeah, the
0:23:06 Sam: Really really cool
0:23:10 Lydia: Then we'd buy that, you know, $45,000 painting.
0:23:10 Sam: Yeah
0:23:13 Thomas: Other option is get the guy to not slice it for you and throw the whole pizza like a Frisbee, like the whole, that's a, that's awesome, or do the, yeah or the Breaking Bad
0:23:18 Sam: Or like in the box and the box opens up and it's all over the place, he's
0:23:24 Lydia: Yeah.
0:23:22 Thomas: Yeah oh man, this, so that's my biggest complaint about this guy actually, is that what he's doing is lobbing it like over, it doesn't make any fucking sense, you idiot oh
0:23:35 Clip: Go, it's not delivery, it's a protest. A conservative artist tosses pizza at New York City Town Hall in response to a coal-fired oven crackdown that could cost owners $20,000. The insane rules drafted by the Department of Environmental Protection would aim to slash carbon emissions by up to 75 percent, they say. Our next guest has already invested
0:23:43 Thomas: My god I
0:23:46 Sam: All lies yeah
0:23:54 Thomas: Mean yeah, as far as the debunking goes, uh, all lies. So so it's not about carbon emissions. That's not what this is for. They, they just say wrong. Look, okay, I know I'm, I'm the first to say this, but they just say incorrect information to everybody. Does anybody know this about Fox News? They just say obviously incorrect things. Like it's facts. Like, I know we all know that that's what they do, but I feel like we don't do a good job of keeping in mind that that's literally your fucking parents and grandparents are hooked into this bullshit like it's an IV, and they just all day, they just say wrong things. And then their mind is soup. They can't, you try to talk to them and you can't even communicate anymore. They speak a different language. I know we had that with our dad or whatever. It's like, oh, you're not in the world anymore. Okay, nevermind.
0:23:58 Lydia: Yeah, absolutely.
0:23:59 Sam: Yeah yeah yeah
0:24:42 Thomas: I can't talk to you.
0:24:42 Sam: They can only handle so many topics, so there has to be like global warming, yeah, it has to touch like gay stuff, global warming, religion, there's like four things, so everything that comes up with the pizza has to, well, we can't, it's global warming like that we have to do global warming
0:24:53 Lydia: Yeah.
0:24:48 Thomas: Yeah. Yeah, here's what I think. Here's what I think, because this is actually contemporary, this is a two-day old thing, this is recent, we're, we're doing breaking pizza news, yeah and so I think that because, and I don't know if this is intentional or not, it might be because these fucking, villainous mustache twirling assholes know that all of the East Coast has been dying of breathing in smoke from the Canadian wildfires, that if they said, oh, it's about the air quality, everyone would be like, oh, that's a very reasonable thing to do are you saying yeah so you're saying
0:25:00 Sam: Wow yeah yeah I currently can't breathe outside so that makes sense, yeah
0:25:05 Lydia: Breaking news. Yeah Yeah.
0:25:32 Thomas: So they're gonna they want to make the air 1% better for free
0:25:36 Sam: Yeah wait, say that again, I can't see you, I'm trying to make out your face
0:25:42 Thomas: I can't, can you bring the TV closer? I can, the smoke in the living room is so bad, so they were like, "Well, we can't say that," it, so yeah, to spoiler the debunk, it's about obviously the fucking particulate stuff in the pizza ovens is like, like, killing, you know, Kramer. It's like the chicken episode of Seinfeld or whatever. Like, it's obviously about that. And so they, they change it to just be carbon emissions, which is obviously not, that would be such a minor thing. That's the main point of everything I'm doing on this show is you have to already have your brain be so fucking ruined by this stuff to think that anyone would be this dumb.
Like they all think, "Oh yeah, these idiots, they're going to try to get rid of carbon emissions by, by slightly changing a hundred ovens in New York." And it's like, no, I know that's already not what it is. Cause I know they're not fucking idiots. Like, I know the people who are trying to do this, whatever this policy is, it's probably based on a bunch of scientists doing a report. And then, by the way, that's also probably watered down and ruined by this exact thing, like people complaining. And so it'll
0:26:18 Sam: Yeah.
0:26:44 Thomas: End up being a terrible nothing. Like, I'm not saying every policy is, is good, it gets ruined by exactly this pizza throwing fucking idiot of every time, like, whatever it is, it'll be, it'll start out as like
0:26:44 Lydia: Well,
0:26:53 Sam: Yeah. It has to be compromised down to actually not doing anything. Yeah, which it already is, yeah
0:26:54 Thomas: Yeah to nothing yeah but but the original thing is obviously going to be a good idea, based most of the time, based on a scientific thing, and these, they've gotten it in their heads that everyone on the left is, wonder what they think a person on the Left. Is do
0:27:10 Sam: Well what they really think, I read, like if you read the comments, oh my god, the YouTube video comments, it's unbelievable, but it's always the dismantling of America, like they think that liberals are, are really smart and they know that, like if we go for the pizza ovens, that is like religion for the America so yeah
0:27:27 Thomas: The pizza ovens and the head will die
0:27:30 Sam: Yeah, exactly, you go for the core, like everybody in New York City has pizza for breakfast lunch and dinner yeah, saucy cheese filled core
0:27:34 Thomas: The gooey delicious core yeah we guys we've been, they slap slap it like a big document on the tail, we've been going about this all wrong, here's, and they have like it's like a map of the city with all the pizza ovens, they're like, we've been, oh my god, we're idiots, okay, here's how we do it, we just start here, circle it, you know, you have to do, circle the red thing and then like hit the table where it is, you know, that's where we go yeah
0:27:42 Sam: Yeah yeah yeah all everything leads to pizza, our whole culture in New York City is pizza, everyone's eating pizza all day, every single day, so if you take those away it erodes their foundation and then people who are otherwise going to be American, people like, whatever that means to them, like, conservative gun loving military, if they don't have their pizza, then anything can go like you know everything slides away and then you're gay and you're
0:28:11 Thomas: Yeah okay and yeah Yeah. There's no rules. There are no rules anymore. Yeah.
0:28:26 Sam: Yeah yeah
0:28:28 Lydia: I think you're onto something because even more breaking news than this, I saw that there is a pizza alliance that is forming led by literally literally two lawyers, are getting involved in this and they're, yeah, they're creating a pizza alliance to fight against these regulations.
0:28:28 Sam: Wow okay okay they love pizza yeah they can't take a loss at all like there's no ground that can be given at all because we've taken, we've taken so much away from them, that's the thing is, like, their lives, if they, this New Yorker guy, or any New Yoker, looks at today like 20 years ago, do you know how different and terrible their life is from, them, like, we've taking everything from them they have nothing they're not even the shadow of the New Yorker they were 20 years go because of all this, either that or they're exactly the same, same, everything's exactly the same, god yeah
0:28:46 Lydia: Yeah.
0:28:49 Thomas: Yeah, absolutely. Mm-hmm. Yeah yeah. Yeah oh
0:29:15 Lydia: Conservative Party of New York State released a statement in response to this, like a press release. And part of the quote is, clearly the state will be going after campfires, fireplaces, and eventually Matches, is if
0:29:21 Thomas: My god. Yeah
0:29:28 Sam: Matches.
0:29:30 Thomas: I was going to make the joke. They're not gonna let you light a candle, but it can't even be a joke because that's what they think.
0:29:31 Sam: Yeah.
0:29:31 Lydia: Oh. Yeah, no, and it gets very poetic. If New Yorkers don't stand up and say no, now the future here may be very dark. Yeah.
0:29:39 Sam: Yeah.
0:29:47 Thomas: And Soggy and not charred, like, yeah, so that's already, we've already gotten to the crux of the matter. So I think we might as well just debunk it now, and then we can enjoy the rest of the fucking absurdity that is this Fox and Friends segment. Um, this is bullshit. Okay, done. All done. That's all done. End of debunk.
0:29:48 Lydia: Yeah.
0:30:04 Thomas: It's all fucking made up.
0:30:04 Sam: So We don't even have to tell you. Yeah, we
0:30:06 Thomas: Well, well, Sam, I did want it like what, after what you just, just, I mean, what you just said is a hundred percent correct and it's is unbelievable the degree they've taken it to. Like it used to be like, okay, if you give an inch, then, you know, they're going to take everything. And that used to Be the philosophy of conservatives with any gun regulation. And already that's, you Know, obviously insane. And it's killing our children and crap that they won't give an inch on any gun regulation. It's gotten now where like a liberal will like cough and they'll be like, okay, you see that is an attack on us. So we need to stop it. Like they've, they've gone so far that it's not just things that were incremental changes. It'S now things that aren't
0:30:06 Sam: Don't have to tell anybody. Yeah.
0:30:44 Sam: Right,
0:30:44 Thomas: Even related to anything that they, they decide. Yeah. They just, yeah.
0:30:46 Sam: Not connected, not connected to anything. Yep.
0:30:50 Thomas: And they'll just decide this is actually an attack on our, the soul of America. And then they'll make an entire thing about it, and it's, how do to even deal with it, I don't even know what to do anymore. Like, yeah, it.
0:30:55 Sam: Yeah. It's impossible, that's why Trump won. We can't even deal with It, it's unbeatable, it's possible, what I've been doing. Oh, sorry, yeah,
0:31:05 Thomas: Anyone who's a sane person what we do need to do is completely fucking ignore these people. It's, it's unfortunately
0:31:16 Lydia: Yeah.
0:31:12 Thomas: Yeah, I know, but, but I mean, people who matter, Sam, I mean, yeah, like yeah, like like people in government or people in the media, they need to just be like, well, you're a bunch of fucking, I'm not gonna air your story, and be like, well, it seems as though people are, that's what really does it, it's, it's not Fox News, it's the people in the middle or whatever, in the media, who, who air it, and they're like, you know, there's lots of controversy over that, no, it should, you, this should, look at this as someone saying there's, well, I was gonna say UFOs, but there's actually too much of a story on that now, you should look at this is someone saying that, you know, there's Bigfoot or whatever. If you're the New York Times, or your whatever, like NBC, some fucking TV thing, you should see this and be like, well, this is like someone claiming there's Bigfoot.
0:31:54 Thomas: So I'm, it's not related to the world in any conceivable way, it's not connected to anything, god,
0:31:53 Lydia: Right, but that, that's really hard nowadays, because, you know, with Twitter and everything, thing, Elon Musk was tweeting about this. So, like, everyone is seeing this Marsha Blackburn Republican senator from Tennessee, not even involved in New York at all, is tweeting about this, saying New York City wants to ban wood-fired pizzerias in the name of their climate agenda. The left wants to destroy small businesses. So it becomes this, like—like, unstoppable force.
0:32:07 Thomas: Oh,
0:32:08 Sam: I saw that okay,
0:32:17 Thomas: My god, yeah, yeah, They're amazing at, they're so good at all getting in a, it's, it's actually incredible to watch, it's better than any fucking team sport, it's better, like the coordination of all of these assholes being, they instantly, they instantly all grasp perfectly, okay, this is the lie we're doing, it's like they're like the best, the world's best improv troupe, they're all like, let's forget about whose line is it anyway, Colin mockery and Ryan, whatever, secret now, Ryan Styles, forget about them, these guys, they're so good, they're like, oh, this is the lie, we're all pretending that liberals want to actually kill, murder pizza pizza place owners, and like get rid, okay, and they all instantly, they're in character, they're all, they do the like, okay, they do the quick thing, and all right, and scene, and they go, and they all do it perfectly. It's amazing.
0:32:26 Sam: Yeah. Yeah, Styles,
0:32:50 Lydia: Right.
0:33:13 Sam: Yeah, but also, it's so easy, like, if you're whiteboarding this and you're like the piece of thing, what, how does, where does it connect, does it conect to guns, abortion, gay stuff, or whatever, you just pick one of the things, and then they go, pizza is climate change, and that's, that's, you know, that's it, done. And then they put that signal out there and every Fox News person there goes, I hate the climate change stuff, so I believe all this. Like, and I know they would do anything. It's so easy.
0:33:13 Thomas: Oh yeah. Yeah. Right. Oh God. That's amazing, yeah.
0:33:39 Lydia: Sure.
0:33:41 Sam: It's not even hard. I mean, they all come up with the same story too. They can't, that is the other thing you will find if you read like Elon Musk's tweets and whatever you talking about. They all say the same exact thing. No one has like an interesting nuance where a person like me would read it and go, oh, well, yeah, that sort of a point. You know, it's all just exactly the same. That's not a point.
0:33:42 Thomas: Yeah. Yeah, they do. Yeah! Yeah.
0:34:01 Sam: Like, that's nothing. You're wrong about all of it. Every time. It's crazy.
0:34:04 Thomas: So hun, do you want to tell us what the real policy is?
0:34:08 Lydia: Yeah. So it's not even a policy. They're proposed regulations.
0:34:11 Sam: Yeah. It's not the law.
0:34:13 Thomas: It's an email that someone sent. It's nothing.
0:34:15 Sam: Yeah.
0:34:15 Lydia: Yeah. So essentially what's going on here is this was something that was proposed kind of back in 2016. So they changed any new ovens that were installed had to be compliant with this. But they had a grace period for any ovens that were older than 2016. So the 2016 models of like all pizza ovens, residential oven, everything accounts for this particulate issue that they're trying to address. Anything older than that, they said, OK, we need to figure out how we're going to reduce that particulate quality, you know, impact for those ovens. And so they wanted compliance by 2020. Obviously, COVID happened. And so it was delayed by COVID. And now they're looking at, OK, we have our regulations drafted. It's the public hearing period now.
0:34:16 Thomas: Oh.
0:35:06 Thomas: Comment period.
0:35:06 Lydia: Yeah, yeah, exactly. So I
0:35:06 Thomas: Yeah, if anyone wants to throw pizza at us, this is now's your time. Yeah.
0:35:10 Sam: Yeah.
0:35:11 Lydia: Checked, you know, how the public comment's been going. There's one comment so far. So they're not even engaging in the process.
0:35:15 Thomas: Wow. This seems fine. There's probably
0:35:18 Lydia: Process.
0:35:18 Thomas: One guy. Who, yeah, that's the thing, the people who actually participate in the system in any way, yeah, I guess not all the time, because sometimes the conservatives are sophisticated enough to do that, but like, like there is a notice and comment period for these things and you could make an argument and that's how it should work. Like there's, you know, cause obviously people in government make mistakes all the time and there could be something where they try to regulate something. It's actually like, oh, that'll, that will be bad for this reason. It'll be whatever. But what it really is, is just people with money trying to protect, not, this is the thing.
If it was about a millionaire being like, I'm going to lose my entire fortune. If you do, it's, it's, oh, no, I'm going to lose point zero zero zero zero zero one percent of anything. And so I'm gonna pretend that I'm dying. Like, that's what's so fucking insulting about it. And these people watching, who, who most often are not at all wealthy and just like probably poor in a lot of these like red states, you know, the Fox News fans, they're always over there. Now they're defending millionaires from the scourge of having to modify a pizza oven for like no money so that whoever lives
0:35:30 Lydia: Yep.
0:35:34 Sam: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
0:36:27 Thomas: Above it doesn't fucking, their children don't die of asthma like all the time. It's unbelievable.
0:36:32 Lydia: Well, and it's even better than that because when I was reading through the regulations and some of the pieces I could find, you know, actually picking it apart bit by bit to say what's actually going on here, it's not even forcing the pizzerias to do that, right?
0:36:32 Thomas: Yeah.
0:36:46 Thomas: It's not, yeah. Yeah.
0:36:47 Lydia: It's saying we would like someone to come out and assess if this is possible with what you have. And if not, if we can't do this method that reduces it by 75%, we have another method that reduces it to 25%. Is that possible? If not, you can apply for a waiver. There are other options here. And then even the mayor has said, you know, like, let's let the public weigh in. We can have a conversation if we're going to move forward or not. This, nothing is set in stone. Nothing has has been, you know, created as policy. There's no, you, know, fines or anything like that.
0:36:53 Sam: Yeah.
0:37:14 Thomas: Which for nothing. Fuck that. Like, I, I know, I don't know what the problem is politically, I don't, we just can't compete because it's the same thing that happened in that election, uh, where the, the governor, uh, remember that governor election? I think it was Virginia. Where, he said something that didn't work. He was like, oh, parents shouldn't be the deciders of what their kids are learning or whatever. And then, and then people don't know what I'm talking about, but, and then he lost, but he also sucked for a million different reasons, but it's unfortunate because like, that is what needs to happen. I don't know how to make that happen, but here's what should happen in 20 fucking, whenever they decided this, 16 or whatever you said, they should have been like, oh, here's what's happening. These pizza ovens are, know, giving you children childhood asthma because air quality is a major thing.
0:37:22 Sam: Yeah.
0:37:22 Lydia: Yeah. Yeah.
0:38:03 Thomas: It's obviously, I assume most people know this, but like one of the crazy things about COVID was when we all shut down in that first few months period, we actually like saved possibly more lives from the pollution to the air quality that wasn't happening. Then we're dying of COVID. It's crazy. And people were like, does this mean we should be doing this all the time? Should we just stop doing anything, because the air quality changes are so important that it actually saves like a ton of lives, especially not so much maybe in this country, but especially in like, I don't know, India and other places where it's like air quality is particularly bad. It's a major thing. And so what should happen is in 20 whenever 16, if that's what it is, when they say, oh, hey, there's these easily fixable problems with these pizza ovens. Hey, everybody, fix this right now. 100 fucking percent, do it now, everybody,
0:38:04 Lydia: Well,
0:38:24 Sam: Yeah. Yeah.
0:38:54 Thomas: Do it right in order to have a pizzeria in the city, you have to fix this tomorrow. That's what it should be. But
0:39:01 Lydia: I think also COVID shed a light on how important indoor air quality is too, right? You know, that the virus transmission inside without like proper ventilation and all of those things and how people were getting sick, even if they weren't super close to another person in this like bigger space, just because of how the air circulated throughout it. Like, there's so much indoor air quality that we should be able to address, too. The people who are manning those pizza ovens and how close they are to inhaling all of this stuff themselves and the potential, you know, impact to their lung health. It's just, it seems like a no-brainer to me, but I'm liberal.
0:39:38 Sam: The exercise I wanted to do is how conservatives would want government to work. So if you took a hundred conservatives in a room and there was some, the EPA, you know, like a hearing for the EPA that we want your opinion. Here's what we found that, it's not just the people living around the pizzeria, but the workers who are standing in front of the freaking oven all the time. And inside of the restaurant all the Time breathing this air, we've found these signs has found particles. And you, you guys are familiar with like wildfire smoke. Like I'm talking to the conservatives right now.
0:39:47 Thomas: Uh-huh. Yeah.
0:40:07 Thomas: Yeah, uh-uh.
0:40:08 Sam: You know, you Know, like the breed it's been, you know, when you go outside and it's all smoky, you cough and like it burns, right? And they're like, yeah, I noticed that. So it's real. Like, you know that's all real. Yeah. So we found that these pizza ovens in the city are bad as that or whatever, some scale of how bad they are. You got people working on them all day, making pizzas, breathing this in. We've found that, there's modifications that can be made to these ovens. What we're thinking is like, Like you said, we're not even going to demand that everyone puts whatever, $50,000, $20,000. We're just going to see. We just want to see, like, are these ovens fixable? That's all we're saying.
0:40:40 Sam: Like, can we just survey all of them and kind of, yeah, can we just see?
0:40:37 Thomas: Yeah. Yeah. Can Can we look at your oven. That's all. You might
0:40:40 Lydia: Yeah.
0:40:45 Sam: And like, we just are worried about the workers and the people around. It's not about global warming. It's Not any of that. It's just directly people living in New York City, your neighbors, your friends, your, yeah.
0:40:55 Thomas: Live above one of these fucking things
0:40:57 Lydia: Yeah.
0:40:57 Sam: Yeah.
0:40:57 Thomas: Right now.
0:40:58 Lydia: Yeah.
0:40:58 Sam: And So all we've been faced with, we know this is bad for people's health. We want to see how can we fix that and make people healthier? That's it. What do you, conservative hundred conservatives in this room, what should we do? Can we go and just see and see what modifications can be made, how much it can cost? Of course, if a pizzeria is like, we're barely making ends meet here, like we don't have the money to do this, they don't have to do it right now. But maybe there are some that are, do you know, have a bunch of money and care about their employees and would, would want their employees to be healthy and can afford to do it. Can we just see? Like, how would that go? Every fucking person would be like, yeah, that's reasonable.
0:40:58 Thomas: Uh-oh. Yeah.
0:41:32 Sam: Obviously.
0:41:32 Thomas: No, Sam, you'd hear a shotgun go, you can have my pizza oven when you pry it from my cold dead hand. Yeah.
0:41:37 Sam: Yeah. Actually, two of the people in the room would be, like, so you're canceling all pizza in New York? And they would be Like, what? How did you get that from what I just said? We're saying, okay, you could do this one thing if you can afford it. If not, this other 20% reduction if you could afford it, if you cannot afford it or if it doesn't work on the oven you have, you don't have to do anything that's in the regulations, right, you bad, yeah, but
0:41:40 Thomas: Yeah. Yeah.
0:42:02 Lydia: Yep. Yep.
0:42:03 Thomas: Yeah, which is, by the way, bad. That shouldn't be in the fucking regulation.
0:42:07 Sam: My point is it's what you said too is that they they
0:42:08 Thomas: Yeah, no, I know. We're bent over backwards and up our own assholes over it. Like, we're not...
0:42:12 Sam: Yes to the point where it's almost ineffective like it's not worth doing it is yeah and
0:42:15 Thomas: Yeah, it is. It's fucking nothing. Yeah. We should stop doing that. That we're coming for their pizza ovens
0:42:20 Sam: And they say that they don't Yeah, that pizza will be canceled in New York City is still the response to a policy that started with an idea that was good and wanted to be, you know, make things safe for people that ended up almost absolutely not even anything. And it's still canceling pizza in Newark City. Like, it can't get any more ridiculous. It can't getting more impossible.
0:42:27 Thomas: Yeah, yeah yep you can't No. It is, it's a perfect distillation no, the key to this is I I love that uh hypothet, that thought experiment, but that that never is real, like there's no, there is no time where conservatives or I know you know this, but I'm just making the point, like there, there's no time where conservatives are ever doing that because they don't participate in anything to make the world better in any way.
0:42:45 Sam: You can't do anything.
0:42:54 Sam: No, no.
0:43:04 Thomas: All they do is sit around and wait for some idiot to tell them a fake thing. And then they get all mad and ruin our lives. There's no, that's the point. Like, I wish they were involved in the process at any point in a reasonable way. Maybe they used to be more, but like they, they just don't, they just come in as an angry mob. Like you said, two of of them go, like, so you're saying you're canceling pizza, and then the other 98 are like, yeah, and then they all just kill the guy who was talking to them, that's all they do, it's it's fuck, it's so sad they all get out there and they do that old cowboy thing where they shoot in the ceiling after, yeah
0:43:32 Lydia: Yeah.
0:43:11 Sam: Yeah. Yeah. Everyone's dead. Yeah. Shoot him like 700,000 times. Yeah The other obvious thing about conservatives is they're all about like America, you know, history of America, the Constitution, all stuff, and it's like they also have no idea that there have been hundreds of years of like terrible conditions for workers that have been fixed by all this stuff that like their own family members probably worked in like a meat packing factory and had their arms chopped off and
0:43:55 Thomas: Yeah yeah They used to actually have children in the ovens, like working, they would hand the a pizza to a child that lived in the oven, and it would have, yeah the
0:44:04 Sam: Yeah children working and all this stuff and I love how they live, like everything's always been perfect and you guys are just ruining the things that have been perfect, like when we landed here on the Bayflower and stuff, it was perfect, everything's always been perfect yeah no Government has ever helped anybody, like in America The government has never just fixed a zillion terrible things that have been wrong with employment, anything, the environment, everything, it's always always been bad, you've always been ruining it, and this pizza is just the last it's one step too far, everything's one steps too far all the time, and it's really exactly the same as the other things
0:44:16 Thomas: Pizza ovens were pristine there's no yeah yeah and it is And it's funny because the last step too far all the time happens four times a day too, like on the hour, all day, on the other, have a new thing each day. It's amazing, they don't keep track, none of them ever ask like, wait, wasn't I told in 2007 that the world was ending because of something? What did that ever happen? None of them, they never do that. Wasn't I told that Obamacare was going to like kill my grandma or something?
0:44:46 Sam: Yeah all the yeah
0:44:49 Lydia: Right.
0:45:04 Lydia: Right. Death panels.
0:45:04 Thomas: Yeah.
0:45:05 Lydia: And yeah.
0:45:05 Thomas: Did that, did that, is my grandma alive? Did they do that? They never do that. Like I wish they would follow up. Maybe that's what we can do on the show a little bit. Look at those old things and say, Hey, is your grandma dead? Well, okay. But not of old age, but not yeah, yeah All so that's the overall point, obviously, this is for particulate stuff, it's not for fucking carbon emissions, that's stupid, and it's obviously a huge benefit, and it's super not even expensive to do, and if it's too expensive they won't, so it's watered down, as we've said, to the point where it shouldn't even exist. This shouldn't, they shouldn't water it, it down this much, but that'll give some context to uh this delightful segment, you're about to hear the rest of
0:45:05 Sam: Covid
0:45:14 Lydia: Yeah.
0:45:17 Sam: Yeah yeah I
0:45:41 Clip: In the anticipation of
0:45:46 Thomas: Polygy
0:45:46 Clip: A mandate. Date, Paulie Gee, the owner of Paulie G's in Greenpoint, joins us now. Paulie, your response to the city cracking down on you guys? Well, I think it's ridiculous. I think it's like killing a fly with a sledgehammer, first of all. They say that a hundred places would have to do this. Yeah. The mayor compared the smoke that comes out of these hundred ovens to the fires that were in Canada, he said that, okay and which is ridiculous, and, um, you know, I put mine and
0:45:52 Lydia: Holy.
0:46:06 Thomas: Yeah
0:46:19 Sam: Is your oven burn wood
0:46:14 Thomas: Why yeah or or it's some, do they still have the coal ones, or is it all wood, because that was the problem, the old ones were coal, literally coal, oh, actually I read that, but then it was, okay, they switched to wood because the coal ones actually took up too much room, like, you apparently you need a bunch of airflow, so like just the businesses themselves, back in like the fucking, I don't 50s or something, they switched from coal to wood mainly because of that reason, not for any other reason yeah
0:46:21 Sam: Yeah that's
0:46:46 Clip: In first of all, because I was told that we had to have it by January 2020, I just found out through all of this that I didn't have to do it right away, I put my name because it was bothering my neighbors, okay but that smoke, of course you
0:46:51 Sam: The best part. Yeah. Yeah.
0:46:56 Lydia: Exactly.
0:46:52 Thomas: I love this yeah I Look, I love this, it's so fucking funny, I love, I can't believe he's on the TV saying this, like he's just like, yeah it just does the cut, I can't believe they still go live on Fox for that very reason, cut
0:47:01 Sam: Fucking idiot. God. I know. The fox host should be like, start over, start over.
0:47:17 Lydia: Well, and he put it in and
0:47:17 Sam: God, you just said the thing. That's it. That's thing.
0:47:20 Thomas: Reset.
0:47:20 Clip: $20,000.
0:47:20 Sam: Yeah.
0:47:20 Thomas: We did again? We could completely undermine our entire fucking political agenda by saying that's all right, redo it, re-roll, take the tape back. Yeah.
0:47:29 Lydia: He's had it for three and a half years. And so now he's coming. Yeah.
0:47:31 Thomas: Yeah.
0:47:31 Sam: He voluntarily did the thing that was bothering his neighbors. And the law doesn't even say that you have to do the thing it's fucking impossible. Impossible.
0:47:33 Lydia: Yeah. Did
0:47:42 Clip: $20.000 yeah I remember I every pizzeria I walk into
0:47:44 Thomas: All Right. When I heard that, uh hun, what is the first thing I said when you showed me this video? The very first thing I said was, hey, go to the website that tells you how much COVID money everybody got and see what this guy got. And what did you find, hun? Wow.
0:47:56 Sam: Yeah. God. Oh
0:47:52 Lydia: Yeah, all Right, so he got 162,517 dollars forgiven in March 2021, and Then
0:48:02 Sam: My god, wait,
0:48:07 Thomas: So I guess that covers the fucking filter, yeah.
0:48:08 Sam: Jesus.
0:48:08 Lydia: Oh there's more, and then eight
0:48:10 Sam: Christ, where did that money come from, by the way, that was that was uh, conservative activist, uh, artists that gave their money from their paintings right to his pizza shop.
0:48:16 Thomas: We're not even at that's
0:48:20 Sam: It didn't come from the government.
0:48:11 Lydia: Oh yeah I wonder
0:48:20 Thomas: The smaller amount Yeah. That's the smaller amount. You ready for the other amount?
0:48:22 Sam: Right, god. God.
0:48:24 Lydia: So, eight days later he got approved for another loan after that one was forgiven for 256,690 dollars, and that one was forgiven in January 2022. Yep.
0:48:34 Sam: Forgiven, yeah, yeah.
0:48:38 Thomas: 430 something, just by listening, something like that. Almost half a million dollars of free money from the taxpayers to this guy. And he's going to get on the TV and complain about the 20,000. I doubt that's even right. Who knows? It could have been fucking $700 for all we know. He hasn't shown us a receipt, but he's gonna complain about that.
He's be like, he's probably had this pizza oven for 50 years and he's killed just like family after family up there and then one guy was like hey dude one guy came down to the pizzeria and he was covered in black, you know, like when they come from the coal mines, like, or like when you get, when you go to the the tailpipe trick, you know, you look in the tailpipe and it blows out one guy became looking like that, he's like, hey, Paul, yeah he was like, Paulie G, um, do you want to not murder my entire family? And he's like, ah, all right, and I guess because this guy, uh, heart of gold, I don't know why he went through with it, uh, but he decided to do 20, it for 000, and then he collects again 430 something thousand dollars of free government fucking money, and
0:49:11 Sam: Yeah yeah yeah oh man that happens to me all the time, oh,
0:49:39 Thomas: Then has the gall to get on TV and complain about this, unbelievable, god, I can't even take it, first thing, I fucking thought of it's the best that website, I saw someone tweet the other day that they're like, that website is the greatest, Social media innovation. Someone built that website. I don't even know what it is. Hun, is that through the government? Or did somebody just build?
0:49:39 Lydia: I
0:49:44 Sam: My God, I didn't even think of that, the COVID thing that's makes all kinds of sense yeah
0:50:01 Lydia: Know, I think it's through the government.
0:50:02 Thomas: Yeah. I don't if it is because I think the government has the data.
0:50:05 Lydia: No Uh, ProPublica.
0:50:07 Thomas: Yeah. ProPublica. So, somebody took all the data and made an interface. And they're, Like, that's the most successful online fucking thing ever. Because everybody goes there, looks at the information, interacts with it, shares it every 400 times a day because every single time. It's correct. There's never a time where the Polly G this fucking guy gets on TV and complains about taxes or complains about anything. And then you go and look him up and it's like, Oh, he actually didn't get any COVID money. Oh, okay. It'S it'S 100% batting average. It's never not correct. Every time it's the best.
By the way, maybe he needed that money, maybe that saved his, I'm not complaining about that, like, that probably saved a bunch of businesses, it's good that we did that because we have massive resources in this country to, you know, help out when people might need it, so maybe that's good, so maybe, though, um, if you're gonna take that money and save your business with it, probably, and more likely what he did was fucking fudge all the paperwork and just pocketed all the the money. I'm sure he had like one employee that maybe, okay, I'll pay that guy and then that'll be justification for all the, who knows. But
0:50:07 Lydia: Yeah yeah yeah
0:50:44 Sam: Yeah
0:51:12 Thomas: Like, yeah, he's like, I need money to keep this air pollution going. And I'm like, okay. That's fine. That is a legitimate reason. Who will kill family after family above me if I don't have this money to save my family killing business. And that's fine, it's not, I'm not mad for him having gotten money that maybe it saved his business for all I know. I don't know. It's the part where you then complain about taxes and the government and all that after that saved your fucking ass or just gave you $430,000 of free money. One or the other.
0:51:12 Lydia: They kept one of their locations open. Been. Oh,
0:51:41 Sam: Well, of course they'll say like, well, they shouldn't have shut down everything and I would have been able to operate my business perfectly, but so I should get that money because they've, you know, shut down anything, no one died and COVID's fake and I could have been fine, but that's their excuse for that, but you want to know the first thing I thought of when he started talking first
0:51:48 Thomas: Yeah. The best. Oh, what's that? I want some pizza. I was like, first I ordered some pizza, so
0:51:58 Sam: Off, yeah, pepperoni pizza yeah, Yeah, after I had my pizza, I came back to watching it.
0:52:01 Thomas: Yeah. Then I was, like, you know, I'm not full. And so I went back and I grabbed another one and then okay so third thing I did
0:52:12 Sam: I got a calzone. I heard $20,000, I was like, that's not a lot of money at all for a business like that. That's nothing. You spend $20.000 on bullshit all the time in a business. Yeah, it's literally not any amount of money. And then the other thing was, whoever he paid twenty thousand dollars to do that, he got ripped off, it was like a five thousand dollar job, there's no way, and it doesn't work and it's wrong, he didn't, the, by the fact that he just did it and he's like, because I thought the regulation, like, dude, you don't even read any like how either there's only two things, either twenty thousand dollars is nothing to this person, which is that's what it is, it's
0:52:21 Thomas: Yeah he yeah, pencils yeah, yeah, oh, totally, yeah yeah what a terrible businessman that's what it
0:52:56 Sam: Not an amount of money that even matters at all, or it's a lot of money and it's a hardship for him and he didn't research it at all to see that he didn't have to do it
0:52:56 Thomas: Is yeah to him, yeah, and he just someone just told him, hey, I think you need to spend 20 on this thing, he's like, like, fuck, all right. Yeah, one or the other.
0:53:07 Sam: Yeah there's only those two options, right, like, it has to be one of those two things so, what is the, you're either a moron or a whiner who has the money, it's fine, and you're, it's, you should have done it 20 years ago
0:53:11 Thomas: You're right, yeah. Yeah. No, there is no other option.
0:53:21 Thomas: Were we able to look up his net worth or anything, hun, or no? Okay.
0:53:24 Lydia: I can kind of book around and see if I can find it.
0:53:25 Thomas: Yeah I'm sure he owns a fucking, you know, a billion of these pizza things and the workers make nothing and they die all the time with no health care and minimum wage, and he has to pay $20,000 on one of them, or or something that he didn't even have to do and doesn't matter to him in any way, that's of course, yeah, but
0:53:30 Lydia: He has several locations. Yes.
0:53:32 Sam: Yeah by
0:53:44 Lydia: Yeah. So he has locations not just in New York. Yeah. Columbus, Ohio, Baltimore, Chicago, New Orleans.
0:53:49 Sam: Yeah, yeah, it's billion probably a zillion dollars, yeah, but
0:53:53 Thomas: New York pizza is the best, so the ones in New York are the only ones that make pizza that's edible, the other ones are all yo
0:53:58 Sam: By the way, we haven't mentioned that this, uh, I don't know the science of what the thing does to on change the particle emissions, but I'm pretty confident saying it doesn't change the way the pizza is cooked or the taste at all
0:54:09 Thomas: We'll oh,
0:54:09 Lydia: Oh yeah. I don't
0:54:10 Sam: Yeah
0:54:10 Thomas: Yeah Sam, it's it's funny that you say that because this guy, I don't think they put this other idiot on the TV, but there is one, there's one guy in the original New York Post article, which the New Yorg Post is just a fucking tabloid that makes, they are the origin of a lot of this stuff, they just make stuff up, and then it's a conservative, whatever, um, there was a different pizza guy who was so fucking stupid that even Paulie G was like, no, that guy's kind of full of shit, I'm, I pulled up the original New York Post article just for fun, what's funny is they, they do say the reasonable thing and they can do that because they know their readers won't see it or something, so they have the quote from the guy from, like, the Department of the, you know, the Environmental Protection thing of New York, he's like, all New Yorkers deserve to breathe, breathe healthy air, and wooden coal-fired stoves are among the largest contributors of harmful pollutants in neighborhoods with poor air quality.
0:55:01 Thomas: DEP spokesman, Ted Timbers. Oh, Ted Timbers, what a great name for this. He should be working in the forest, whatever. Oh yeah, Ted Timber's. This common sense rule, was he dressed as Smokey the Bear?
0:55:06 Sam: Ed Timbers. Yeah. Did Dave Doman have anything to say about this?
0:55:13 Thomas: Yeah. This common sense role developed with restaurant and environmental justice groups requires a professional review of whether installing emission controls is feasible. They actually put that in their, in their propaganda. It doesn't matter because they know that their fucking brain dead readers won't even see that part. And then they, this one also quotes Polly G, but I'll go to the other guy. It's so funny, "One pizza restaurateur who requested anonymity told the Post that sensitive negotiations are currently taking place within." So that's how it starts. And then later it says some other stuff, but it says this quote, and it's from the same anonymous person. "This is an unfunded mandate and it is going to cost a fortune, not to mention ruining the taste of pizza, totally destroying the product." The restaurateur, who has a coal-fired oven, fumed. "If you fuck around," and they censor that, "with the temperature in the oven, you change the taste. That pipe, that chimney, it's that size to create the perfect updraft."
0:55:27 Sam: Yeah.
0:56:14 Thomas: Keeps the temp perfect. It's art as much as a science. You take away the char, the thing that makes the pizza taste great, and you kill it, he claimed. And for what? You You really think that you're changing the environment with these eight or nine pizza ovens? That's so good. Oh my God. And then they they quote Paulie G like right below that. And he says, if someone is trying to say that putting the scrubber in changes the flavor of pizza, they're just trying to save themselves $20,000. No, it doesn't affect what's going on inside the oven. He said it hasn't changed the taste. It doesn't change the pizza. It hasn't changed the product at all.
0:56:28 Sam: Nah.
0:56:39 Sam: Awesome. Obviously.
0:56:46 Lydia: Hot take. He also says there's nothing special about New New York water. I found another quote there too from him.
0:56:51 Thomas: Oh yeah. It's oh yeah. Well, that's obvious. It'S of course,
0:56:54 Lydia: It's an urban legend.
0:56:53 Sam: New York water.
0:56:54 Thomas: We don't even have to talk about the goddamn, yeah, we could talk for an hour how New York pizza is not any better and no food in any place is any better than any, if that same person traveled to California and put up the same thing and use the same techniques, it would just be the same food. There's no reason that it would be better. People try to say it's the water or something like that. Oh yeah, the water is really, you can taste the difference in the water of the dough. That's like in the pizza, shut up. So stupid. Yeah,
0:56:58 Sam: Yeah. Yeah, right.
0:57:24 Lydia: Yeah. Well, and Pauly G, I can't find exact dollars regarding net worth, but I think he's doing fine. He's licensed his name and his brand. And he was an IT professional in corporate America for 30 years before he started his pizza business. And He's in the media all the time. He delivers keynote keynote addresses for random things. I found an article where he got, he, he got hit in the head by, by a Yankee foul ball from Aaron Judge. And like that got picked up in the media at like a concussion trying to get the ball autographed.
0:57:34 Thomas: He has a franchise. Oh, god. How many pizza related controversies, yeah, well,
0:57:43 Sam: Nice. Wow.
0:58:04 Lydia: He's fine. He is fine.
0:58:05 Thomas: He might have some brain damage, but other than that, he's fine.
0:58:07 Lydia: Yeah.
0:58:07 Sam: You know what actually happened is they got him on Fox and Friends, and they're like, yeah, so you're not going to do this pizza thing. He's like, ugh, I already did it because it was not any amount of money for me, and my neighbors
0:58:18 Lydia: And it bothered bothered my neighbors.
0:58:19 Sam: Complained. I mean, like, oh no, okay, okay, let's think about this. Just, okay, it's fine. Just say that you were confused because the regulations are really confusing and like you're just trying to comply and so you just made this huge investment and it's just confusing, the government's bull, it's just confusing mess. Okay, that'll be fine. That's
0:58:35 Thomas: Yeah, He's like, well, the way it should work is the free market dictates that one of your neighbors should like lose as few family members, and then when they ask you personally to please stop doing that, maybe you do it. That's how the free, the, the, the invisible hand of the free market works. That's it. Does it? Here it gets, even better.
0:58:51 Clip: That's successful. You guys are so busy. I mean, it comes in and out. I can't imagine doing that. But it does cost you $20,000?
0:58:57 Sam: Yeah,
0:58:51 Thomas: No, actually, I want to go back, because what the dynamic you're describing, Sam, actually does happen in the video. This, this guy, uh, Brian Kill me, I think his name, he does that exact thing where he scrambles in real time to try to like keep the controversy up. It's so good. He's like, but you
0:59:08 Sam: Yeah, he's like, Paulie, you're not playing ball here, man, like cut this, turn the cameras off. I need to talk to Polly.
0:59:15 Lydia: You,
0:59:17 Thomas: Can hear him do that calculation of how do I get this to be a thing we should be mad about again?
0:59:19 Sam: Right.
0:59:22 Clip: $20.000? $20.,000. You know, every pizzeria I walk into that successful, you guys are so busy. I mean it comes into that. I can imagine doing that.
0:59:29 Sam: What does that mean, you're making a shitload
0:59:32 Clip: But it doesn't seem to be you're rolling in money. You're earning every dollar
0:59:32 Sam: Of money,
0:59:35 Thomas: He's like, yes, the people I pay minimum wage to are very busy. I agree.
0:59:39 Clip: That you put in. And to say someone just have to go write a $20K check must be maddening. Yeah, it's, you know, but fortunately it happened before the
0:59:49 Thomas: Yes. Yeah. I didn't think about that.
0:59:50 Lydia: Like, can't even engage
0:59:50 Sam: He's a concert Polly G is a conservative, and he's having it in his own mind. He's having trouble figuring out how this fits in his concert because he's like yeah, and then his brain is like, well, no, that was really cheap for me and I've made a billion dollars on pizza and he just stops his brain is like
0:59:51 Lydia: With that.
1:00:00 Thomas: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Also, I, by the way, I cashed $430,000 in government money. So I did. Yeah. I profited.
1:00:08 Sam: Yeah exactly he's so confused it's happening in real time like on this thing he's like, yeah, but no, yeah.
1:00:15 Thomas: Yeah, yeah. So Sam, you're right. Here's how he figures it out. Ready? Here's why he solves this conundrum.
1:00:21 Sam: Yeah
1:00:22 Clip: Rough. But fortunately it happened before the pandemic. You put a $20K check must be maddening. Yeah, It's, You Know, But Fortunately It Happened Before The Pandemic. If I HAD TO DO IT NOW, THAT WOULD BE REALLY WRONG. All These People Do.
1:00:32 Clip: So Where's That? This Is An Unsubsidized Mandate again. Absolutely. Absolutely. Now, you know, they want to improve emissions. You know, they're willing to take taxpayer money to do that. They do it with the New York City ferries. You pay four dollars to get on a ferry, but it costs ten dollars per person. So we're subsidizing six dollars. Yeah. So, so they did, like, they looked at John Kerry, you know, our climate czar. He hops on private jets. You would have to, you would have, cook, uh, you would have to cook pizzas, uh, for 849 years, uh, to to reach his carbon footprint that he puts by fry flying private
1:00:31 Thomas: I already blew all that $430,000 on blow.
1:00:33 Sam: I'm Confused by
1:01:10 Clip: Around The World does that bother you wooden coal in your small, uh, in your small ovens, and they're cracking down on you, not him? Well, what bothers me, again, is like killing the fly with a sledgehammer.
1:01:10 Sam: That Yeah.
1:01:21 Thomas: Okay. Let me ask this in, Polly's mind is the real battleground here. I think you're Right. So in his mind, mind, he's like, wait, so did my neighbor ask me to cut my carbon emissions and that's what was bothering him? Or did my neighbour ask me the fucking particulate matter, the smoke? You know what I mean? Like, would you, would that make sense? Hey, your carbon emissions are bothering my, no, he knows that it's not what it was.
1:01:26 Sam: Yeah. Yeah.
1:01:36 Lydia: Yeah. Yeah. I ran your carbon footprint, and I'm a little concerned.
1:01:46 Thomas: Oh,
1:01:43 Sam: It's not what it is So has he calculated all the different locations PolyG has, and then is it just like if you cooked one pizza for 800 years it would start to... I don't know what it means. Like how...
1:01:55 Thomas: I'd probably be burnt. I wouldn't do that.
1:01:59 Sam: No. The fly with the sledgehammer thing, every time I laugh at that every single time. It's so dumb. That's not what it is at all. It's fixing a sledgehammer with a fly.
1:02:08 Clip: Fly.
1:02:10 Sam: It's the opposite.
1:02:03 Thomas: Yeah. Yeah, it's fixing a sledgehammer. It's starting out by being like, let's fix this sledgehammer with some tools. And then you yell about it enough to where it's like, well, can we let just talk about the sledge hammer? Yeah, that's all. That's all it is.
1:02:12 Lydia: Oh, my
1:02:20 Sam: If we glue a fly in one of the cracks,
1:02:25 Thomas: Yeah.
1:02:27 Clip: City bikes are a great example. They just put 35 bikes across from my restaurant, okay?
1:02:31 Thomas: Oh, no.
1:02:32 Clip: And the most
1:02:33 Thomas: What does this have to do with anything? He's
1:02:34 Clip: I've seen taken out of that thing were like five.
1:02:35 Sam: Does those run on wood smoke?
1:02:37 Clip: And what does it do? It wipes out parking. Sure. And people are not going to come from further away from, you know, mass transportation to come to my restaurant. I have a number of people that come from Long Island and New Jersey. And, you know. The more difficult they make it to park, the better and it's, you know, that's great that those bikes are available, they had another rack right around the corner, uh, that half of the bikes are, you know, always still there, but yet they put these 35 in because it's, it's like a mantra, and now you got congestion pricing for people who want to go across the city and now they're cracking down on you guys, they said they're to have an open forum to discuss ways out of this, maybe if they decide they want to do it, they got to find some way to get you, get you the money. It's unbelievable how hard you guys work, how would you been through the pandemic, what
1:02:41 Thomas: Brainstorming. He's like, fuck, what is what does that have to? No,
1:02:43 Sam: Yeah.
1:03:21 Thomas: I don't
1:03:21 Clip: You had to suck up and how you had to suffer with all the inspections too.
1:03:22 Thomas: Do anything I I just oh
1:03:22 Lydia: God.
1:03:23 Sam: Yeah. Not.
1:03:26 Clip: These guys coming in. So Paulie G, thanks so much, appreciate the real, uh, the real life story, and appreciate what you do. Oh, thanks very much for having me. Yeah, best pizza in America, right? I know, best. Only favorites. Oh, favorites. Okay, thank you very much, I'm
1:03:26 Thomas: The inspections yeah.
1:03:29 Sam: Yeah.
1:03:40 Sam: Guy's actually just a liberal. He's like, Paulie G's is a total liberal, like just pretending to be.
1:03:43 Thomas: Probably
1:03:45 Lydia: Well, and he's complaining about, like the ferry, you know, and the subsidies that are happening there, which are true. It is being subsidized, but that's because they were trying to get ferry services open to a large number of people and reduce their commute, you know, that they would take an hour, hour and a half to have to go all the way around and, you know, tighten that up.
1:03:45 Thomas: Yeah.
1:03:58 Thomas: Imagine having to take a fucking ferry to work, Jesus Christ.
1:04:07 Lydia: Yeah. And so they subsidized it to keep the costs low, but they partnered with a private company to just kind of get it up and off the ground right away. And so it's high. They are revising it. That's part of this plan, too, where they're going to tier the prices even more. The subsidy is going to come down. They're figuring out how they can fix that. But that's what's going to enable more people to come to his restaurant too, is if you fix this transportation issue, that can be really cost prohibitive for a lot of people.
1:04:07 Thomas: Oh, obviously. Yeah.
1:04:31 Thomas: God.
1:04:36 Sam: Yeah. How much, how many parking spaces do you think 16 bikes takes? Two?
1:04:42 Sam: They have subways and stuff. If you could get on a subway from wherever, all the way, Long Island or whatever, I don't know how many, I've never been there. Cut that. You get off the subway and then you ride a bike to the shop and you don't have to park, you don't have to walk a billion miles, like, what the fuck are talking about, dude, your two cars a day that can park there is the difference between your business being successful or not, you're, you've got big problems.
1:05:02 Lydia: Yeah.
1:04:53 Thomas: Yeah. Yeah. It's unreal, real. Yeah. All the traffic in New York is actually just, people like trying to go to this pizza place, like I can't, there's no, God.
1:05:10 Sam: And then they added a couple bikes and it's like weird, that's it, I'm not even gonna try to park there now.
1:05:12 Thomas: Yeah. It's A bunch of guys that are just, they're still like idling, right? They're like, when are they gonna take these bikes, I need to, it's been a month, I don't know how to park, God, it's so funny.
1:05:26 Sam: Must be a conservative hot button, bikes, like bicycles, they hate them. Just bring that up and they're like, oh, fucking bikes, stupid. Two wheels and the pedals and handlebars, hate those things.
1:05:30 Thomas: Yeah. Yeah. Because What New York needs is more cars, that's the solution, get, is there's no cars there now, they've got it outlawed, cars right after pizza ovens. Yeah, I'm curious if this guy, it's funny that he did have that quote of like, well, that other guy's full of shit, he does seem like he's not really fully into this, but he also comes up with the problem about the bikes and all that. But I just imagine the hypocrisy of complaining about some, probably one of your fucking employees that has to go breathe in like pure death to work at your fucking pizza place, has to get on a ferry and gets to pay $4 instead of $10. And you're going to complain about that after taking $430,000 of government money. Like it's, it's just incredible.
1:06:18 Sam: You know, I misunderstood that, that you have to pay ten dollars and it should only cost four, like they're making people pay more because of, it's the opposite, yeah.
1:06:25 Thomas: No, yeah.
1:06:28 Sam: You You only have to pay for it, but it costs... No, I'm just saying I personally misunderstood that when I watched the video because I was like, oh, yeah, okay, cool. Well, you're making people pay more because it's polluting. That's not even what it is. They're paying. We're paying so that they don't have to pay as much even though it costs more. Okay.
1:06:28 Lydia: Yeah,
1:06:32 Thomas: Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
1:06:44 Sam: Terrible.
1:06:44 Lydia: It's actually I think right now or it had been like $2.35 is what people were paying. And then the subsidy was a little higher than what he said, but they're reducing that even more to help people who can't afford to do that or, you know, older folks.
1:06:44 Sam: Yeah.
1:06:58 Thomas: Oh, they're reducing. I thought you're saying they're going to get rid of the subsidy more.
1:07:01 Lydia: So they're trying to move to a tiered rate.
1:07:05 Thomas: It's so fucked. By the way, with all this stuff, with the subways, with all the public transport, it should just be free. They've looked at it and it's like the Amount that they get from people paying their two dollars to ride the fucking fair. It's nothing, it's one pizza restaurant's worth of covid money. It's not, it's absolutely nothing, and it, the amount they have to pay to have people enforce it, to have, you know, to like have people process it to have, it's all, it barely, by the, by the end of the thing you've spent a bunch of money to charge poor people a dollar more that doesn't even fucking do anything, it's so fucking stupid, stupid. Oh,
1:07:12 Sam: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
1:07:11 Lydia: Yeah. Right. Reduces ridership, right? Because then now your revenue stream's impacted if people can't afford to hop on. The Ferry.
1:07:43 Sam: Yeah.
1:07:46 Thomas: That's the other thing. Yeah.
1:07:47 Lydia: Yeah.
1:07:47 Thomas: Yeah, exactly. Oh,
1:07:48 Sam: Yeah, for businesses, wouldn't you want that would be where you would start, is like, how do we get people to want to come to all the restaurants and businesses and museums and all that stuff. Oh, make all the public transportation free, but we'll lose like $200 a year if we don't do that, after all of our expenses.
1:07:53 Thomas: Yeah.
1:08:00 Lydia: Yeah. Um.
1:08:03 Thomas: Oh man, well, the woke are coming for our pizza ovens. I think we've pretty much covered it, huh? Is there any other research that we didn't get to?
1:08:11 Lydia: I think the only other thing I'll say is that, you know, like looking at New York City's best pizzeria, I know Polly G says there's no best, there's only favorites, but looking at some, you know, an eater list out of New York, um, there's a lot of pizza places that are highly rated that have ovens post-2016, um, including the Neapolitan style, so uh, that's what the big fight about is.
1:08:32 Sam: That's chocolate strawberry
1:08:30 Thomas: Neapolitan style, yeah. I thought a genuine, that's where my mind went, I was like, what is this? Oh,
1:08:37 Sam: Yeah. Sounds
1:08:38 Lydia: No, no, that's the classic wood-fired one, right, where they said that that style of pizza will just disappear,
1:08:38 Sam: Delicious.
1:08:42 Thomas: Okay. Okay. So is that how they make that ice cream, they put it in a wood fire? Okay. So that's how all
1:08:48 Sam: Yes. The chocolate is just baked longer, hunger.
1:08:50 Thomas: Right Yeah.
1:08:52 Lydia: So gross. But yeah, so there's plenty of pizza places to go to, even if some of these don't feel like doing it and want to go out of business to protest. I don't know.
1:08:59 Thomas: They they never do it. They they just Yeah. Yeah.
1:09:05 Lydia: No, they don't. And yeah.
1:09:06 Sam: Nothing Yeah, exactly, yeah.
1:09:07 Thomas: Can't
1:09:08 Lydia: Oh, and then one other thing, the public hearing will be virtual for this. So if anyone wants to tune into that, I can share that. I kind of feel like I might listen to it because I want to hear like the public reaction and stuff. If like if Scott Lobato comes, you know, yeah.
1:09:16 Thomas: Wait you should we should make some predictions yeah like here's
1:09:26 Lydia: Like Like, is he going to throw more pizza?
1:09:26 Sam: Yeah.
1:09:27 Thomas: Here's yeah He's like, I need everyone to install all this add, add-on to zoom so I can make sure the pizza throwing works virtually, it'll do a, it'll do a splat on your screen.
Yeah, we could make some predictions, because here's the thing, will there be some other fake thing, fake controversy that comes up between now and then, and so literally no one will attend this or care except for like, you know, one person who doesn't know anything about this who just likes to go to governments, like in Parks and Rec, like the one person who goes to all those those things and like it could just be that like, genuinely, they could do this public comment and it might be nothing, like literally nobody will pay attention, or will they have that sustained enough interest to, to go in like, complain about a bunch of fake things and then have the poor government employee that's working it be like, that's not okay, your time's up, because they give them like, what you know, 30 seconds to talk, okay, your time's up, none of that was real, next, you know, like it'll be one of those two things.
1:09:56 Lydia: Oh, yeah.
1:09:57 Sam: Yeah crazy person yeah oh
1:10:24 Lydia: I don't think anyone's going to show up. It's not for another month for the hearing. I think they're going to get over it.
1:10:24 Thomas: Oh yeah there'll be, will be will be several
1:10:29 Lydia: And yeah.
1:10:28 Sam: Yeah yeah
1:10:30 Thomas: Pizza oven controversies have passed, this
1:10:32 Sam: I was gonna say the odds that somebody shows up, does, and like a long story about how their ancestor came from Italy and like made pizzas and these ovens and blah blah yeah that would be good, I would love, god, he died at 46, six from lung cancer from the particles
1:10:43 Lydia: Amazing.
1:10:39 Thomas: With nothing in his pockets but two slices of pepperoni pie. He didn't have two little pepperoni slices to rub together, yeah. And that was his god-given American right. Oh man, well, Sam, thanks for joining us to take on this very serious issue.
1:10:58 Sam: Yeah I'll be here for all pizza stuff, you yeah Thank you.
1:11:05 Thomas: Pizza correspondent, Sam Smith.
1:11:27 Thomas: Go to type in who, and it does Wilhelm von Gloyd, like just from the W, is that something that I was searching earlier, okay, who paints, paints Trump in really gay ways, okay.
1:11:33 Sam: Have
